Chapter 16 A Shred Of The Past

King Damon Adrian's POV.

I don't very much admire nature's beauty but as the morning sun is shining onto Liliana's stunning and god-gifted body makes me crave for more of it's wonders. What could I not love about her?

I'm in love with her dark, luscious and wavy hair. I'm in love with her beige attractive skin. I'm in love with her long eye lashes that protects her beautiful blue eyes and send lustful shiver down my member. I'm in love with her pointed nose that flares when she's either laughing or angry. Anyways they both makes her nose more lovely. I'm in love with her pink lips that I'd love to see plump by me kissing her hard. I'm in love with her curvy shapes.

She's the same like I once remember. Nothing's different except for the changes in hair colour. They share the same character. They both are feisty. They both don't serve anyone. They both are rulers themselves, no one can make them bow.

On the referendarius day when the student's file was being examined by me. Since my commanders and I  couldn't attend due to the Harlow's havoc that are just getting heard of at that time. I then made a rule to examine each file and check the student's  performance. Those with bad performance will become emit, average students will become dators and excellently performed students will become emunctor lactis.

Until.. It was until I saw Liliana's file that everything changed. At first, I didn't notice the resemblance. I didn't feel any attractiveness until now. That's why I sent her to the hospes cell. All because, I firstly let my anger take over me. I pour my hatred onto her. Now it's different. I won't hate her but love her more and I will discover the reasons why she'd leave me at first.

I look down at Liliana's sleeping frame, resting on my chest and smile. Her lowly tiredness snore are even lovely as I find myself getting amused by everything concerning her. Even when I didn't feel the attractiveness and affections and passion... All of it. I still sent Lucas to the referendarius to help me check on Liliana. With all the feelings I felt when I checked her file, I knew I needed to know who she is. I guess, I've always felt the closeness but I didn't just look at its direction and I hope I'm not too late. My memories starts to fade emotionally to the past. Well some of it. Just a shred of the past.

(A/N; The full part of the story where Adrian was banished would be explained later in the future chapters and it'll be relevant to the prologue).

This part is after king Adrian was banished and how he lived his life before gaining all the powers.

After I was banished from my earth. The bender's world. Ever since Frederick betrayed the four elementary kingdoms, the avatar rules changed completely. Frederick grew bad lustfulness on the foreign powers that he gained. No one knew where he possesses them from. They just came suddenly.

Frederick used this filthy dark powers to destroy my one true love, and then banish me into a foreign humanly universe. He used the powers to change all the rules that avatar laid.

Life breathed back into me. My head pounded harshly like my body has just been pulled out from an incredibly fast portal. My eyes felt heavy as I opened them while dizziness wore me down. As the door opened, instantly my eyelids snap opened.

"King Damon of Air benders, how are you feeling?" A middle aged bender walked in. His eyes glow bluish which is not one of our powers as he bent water. What's happening? Why can't I remember anything?

"Where am I?" I ask, confused. "Where am I?!" I asked again, this time furiously. Memories started to kick in into me and I could feel another presence inside me. Another being inside me. An angry one. The one who's making it hard for me to control my rage. Something that's not inside me before. My eyes darted around and landed on a mirror by the wall. The hazel glow in my eyes was evident. I started to panic. Impetuosity swallowed me more.

Almost before my hands could catch something to smack the bender with, who is currently narrowing his eye at me as if trying to figure something out. The door opened again and someone familiar walked in. My memories were starting to come back.

"Mother." I pause my intention as she walked in. She gestured to the bender to leave and he heed immediately, walking out the door.

"Son." Mother began. "That's the doctor. How do you feel?" She asked, leaning closer on the bed and shared me an affectionate smile as her hands pet my cheek. Another frame walked inside the room and I recognize him immediately. My cousin, well more like a brother.

"Oh! Brother, we all thought that the stupid cave that the mad king made wouldn't let you go. You kind of spent more time in there than any of us has ever spent." Felix explained.

"Well, here I am brother." I said, trying my best to not freak out as I received the brotherly hug Felix passed. Mother and Felix were also banished by Frederick. Actually, every bender on humans earth were banished and.. Why?!  Just because we wouldn't support him in destroying the bending world. We wouldn't let an unclean king rule. Because we wouldn't let the fire kingdom rule over the other elementary kingdoms. The kingdoms were meant to stand fully on their own, a water tribe king for a water bender kingdom and as should be in the other kingdom.

I look back at mother and her eyes hold sadden expression. She force back a smile while Felix sits closely beside me on the sickbed.

Months passed as I learnt things about our new way of life. At those times, humans were our rulers. The humans despised us then, calling us the viatores. We hid ourselves from their reach. Hideous caves were our homes which were built by earth benders. Frederick intentionally sent us here so the humans can destroy us. He made sure that he wiped away all the benders that wouldn't concur from our planet. He himself created the mercury using dark powers, he knew the humans would find it since they categorize us as an unworthy and violent creatures. They think of us as a monster. Through the cave, Frederick used his dark powers to make us weaker as our time on humans earth increases.

Since we feed off their blood, humans would hate us. Therefore, humans would find something deadly that can kill or weaken us. Then they found the mercury which Frederick already had prepared. This was all his plan but one thing that confuses us was, why Frederick would destroy his people? Why would he destroy the other three elementary kingdoms? Why would he seek lethal dark powers?

We managed to live in the dark until one unfortunate day. The humans manage to trail us by arresting some of the benders that went outside to bring in supplies. Since we don't look any different from them, we used to blend in. Before the humans could kill all of us, mother took some of us and we fled, unfortunately excluding Felix.

Another group of benders took us in where I learnt that the earth bender king is dead. This brought a wrathful presence from me. The unbalance started to make some of us stronger, we felt the presence of another being in us- bivatar and monster.

We named it bivatar because it helped in bringing out our full bending abilities. Bivatar means half of avatar powers. Its a state that give benders the ability to use their full powers. Just like avatar state helped our god, avatar to reach the full greatness of his powers. Bivatar does the same.

Monster presence is believed as a gift from the unbalance. Its a raging power that we believed, the cave must have blessed us with during the space traveling. We started to develop this powers and slowly we were turning into something else. Something that avatar could never be proud of.

During the first war, a war that gained us independence in some far away land. We later found Felix and an orphan human boy who doesn't have name. As far as I can guess, I'm sure that his other humans mate don't treat him well. Felix begged in order to keep the boy, explaining that he was saved by the human boy. While the first war lasted, the boy was cut badly. The humans called him betrayal. The cut was too deep that he couldn't respond to any treatment. Felix rushed him to me on the battle field. He asked me to save the fragile human boy. At that time, my powers were becoming strangely and intensely powerful than others. I was chosen as the leader to protect and save my ilks from humans since I'm the only king left. The king of air benders.

Felix laid down his figure and somehow, after many pleading. I finally agreed even though I don't know how to help and at that moment, humans seem like a extremely hateful species to me. I felt like killing anyone of them that I could lay my hands on

That moment was the first time I connected with the two presence in me. That night, I became the first bender whom electric surge comes out from. The first who would heal and turn a human.

Mysteriously, after I healed the boy. My powers goes into extreme, probably because I couldn't control much of it yet. I turned the boy into a bender by the time he awoke after healing completely. Felix turned him into family and named him, Andrew Lucas. The first human boy to become a bender.

Months passed as things changed. Lucas became the strongest water bender ever seen. The benders that witnessed what I did believed that he gained from my strong powers. Lucas became trusted in our race and became the king of water benders. Ever since then, I've never used the powers again and its because they wouldn't just happen. I tried practicing on them, but no good result came. We tried to root out where my powers came from but it all result in nothing. As time rolled by, I practice more on the mysteries of my powers and I found out that I could bend all the four elements. My powers were almost as Frederick, its just that I still lack some. For example, I can't cast spells nor use dark powers. Also, I can only bend the elements. I can't use their bivatar or the speciality.

By bivatar or speciality, I mean the deepness of our powers. A fire bender can turn the air into a breathing fire gas that can burn one's throat or skin, whatever, but I can't. An earth bender can trace any location or an individual by touching the ground but I can't. In all, I can't do the abnormality of our powers that is caused by the unbalance, except air bending which is my original powers, that I can do the bivatar. Unlike me, Frederick can do all this.

When I learned almost all the elements, we discovered that some benders also possesses this kind of bending. Mother was part of them. In fact she learned the powers quickly and soon, she made an organization to teach those with these powers. Mother named their group acies. Meaning, edge. That is, those on the edge. Edge of two bending powers. And till now, the acies can only bend two element only, no one is seen to bend three or four elements except me.

My zone out stop when Liliana start to whimper lightly against my chest. Her body start to tremble. I quickly enter into her mind to see the disturbance. Her dreams are filled with a terrifying vision of what Logan had done to her. I connect with my bivatar powers and clear out the dreams. I clear out the memories away from her head. I slowly slide away my frame from her head and gently place it on the pillows when her body has calmed down and she's gone back to sleeping. My body aches for her touch once again but I refrain. I need to deal with bivatar.

Hint: There are three parts that holds the body of a bender and are different with different ways of thinking. Like three different beings in a body. The bender part of the body owns the powers(fire, water, earth, and air.) The bivatar part of the body owns the intensity, increasing the abilities of the powers. A part that also deals in feeding on humans. The monster part of the body owns the monstrous and misbehaviors in benders. A part that's specialized for rage.  (A/N- Just wanted to clear this out. I'm secretly hoping that my story wouldn't be too hard to comprehend. But you'll still understand. I'm quite sure of that. By the time we get to the acies part, I'm sure things would have been cleared out. Just stay tuned ❤)

I walk out of the bedroom to the meditation room. A room where I connect with my powers. I can already feel bivatar presence, he's ready for me. On his side, he thinks he's right just like on my side too.

I fold my legs in a sitting position on the ground. My hands rest on my laps as I curl my index and thumb slightly almost intertwining them. My eyes snap open and an electric surge pour out from my body as a sound is made. Gradually, the surge forms my others and they sit opposite me in the same position. Monster sits by the left while bivatar sits by the right. My monster eye radiates hazel. While bivatar lens radiate white flecks. My bender side which is the real me, stay natural as a bender should. Now let's begin. An argument between you and your thoughts, I wonder how it'll end.

My jaw tenses as I look at bivatar. I'd have called his present facial expression, irritating if not that we own the same face. We are three in one.

"Why did you call us out physically?" Monster ask, darting his eyes around the room. I could have called them mentally but I needed us to discuss this face to face. One on one.

Before I could answer bivatar cuts in. We really are going to stay long before being able to resolve this matter.

"Its because of the human girl who has the same resemblance of the one who betrayed us." Bivatar angrily replies.

"Careful, bivatar!" I snap.

"Or what?" Bivatar says. "You're gonna ignore me. We all know that we need each other." Bivatar adds.

"And that's what I'm trying to do. Just like how strong we need each other is as we need Liliana. You know this bivatar." The bender part of me say.

"Yes, we know this, and as far as I'm concerned in this matter. We know that she must have had a good reason before betraying us. Now she's back, we should find a way to support her this time and not let her chose wrong, bivatar." Monster tries to explain to bivatar.

"And because of this stubbornness of yours, she was almost murdered. Why didn't you let us know that Logan is punishing her?" I say.

Bivatar eyes flashes regret but is quickly wipe away as soon as it came.

"I'm sorry but you all know that I'm the one who's most affected. Even though I wasn't born then, still the cave made me feel all the pain. With all the pain I felt, if seems like she didn't care for us. At all. You, monster, you were able to wash away the pain through your aggressiveness and you, the bender was able to wash away the pain through your ruling position and I.. I was only able to wash it away by feeding, which I'm still doing continuously. Do you think avatar will accept me for this?" Just as bivatar finishes explaining, the door creaks open slowly and a light footstep approaches.

We can already feel it, by change in the aura. Her presence is magnificent as it somehow makes the situation less tense. Finally, Liliana steps inside.
