The Big Green Lady
Meri friend (my friend). It's just a slang and the pronunciation is- Meri as may-rie.
Liliana Roslyn's POV.
As if on queue, as I drop down the book, the door creaks, opening halfway. My gaze move to it to see king Adrian walking in and he shares me a light smile.
Gaiting to the windows, he ask. "How's the journey been treating you?"
"Nicely." I say and tuck the book into the sheets by the headboard.
His gaze move to me and he sits on the bed's edge. "So, you're not angry with me anymore?"
I sigh and give him my full attention. "Well, I don't know but the fact that you killed humans makes me feel uneasy with you. But..I know that the humans you killed at the meeting weren't because you wanted to do it intentionally. I know it's the darkness driving you and I'll help you fight it." I finish. I'll help him fight it? How did I even know that? I'm his emit. I don't even think I understand everything. I don't know that darkness. I mean, we're now in some bender, frantic, and affectionate phantom thing.
However, he smiles and holds out his hands. Instinctively, I capture their soft status and look him in the eye.
"Thanks." He whispers. "I need to explain some stuffs. We'll soon arrive to North America and I need to clarify some things for your wellbeing." His mesmerizing hazel eyes beams on my blue eyes, capturing my mind.
"Ana, I need you to stay close to Alex and I. I don't want Oliver's men treating you badly and what we would face there will involve a lot of danger." He finishes.
Duh. "Is that it?" I ask, almost laughing off my a**.
"Ana, I'm serious." The look on his face shows how baffled he is.
I wave him off with my now free hands and look at him. "Have you forgotten that I beat you?"
He scoff lightly, dropping his head. "Ana, that's not it." Uh-oh! His tone is serious. "You barely can fight normally. Lucas wouldn't be there to amplify your senses nor would I. You need to be careful and stay close to us. Those Harlow's are more barbaric than any of us. They'll pluck our your heart and feed it to their darkness. They'll cast spell to make you cut out your liver. They'll..."
I shun him by saying. "I understand."
"I don't mean to scare you but you need to be careful and stay..."
"...close." I finish it for him and he nods.
"Take." He hands out a tablet to me and I reluctantly collect it from him. He continues. "Lucas told me to give you, saying he'd like for you to give him a call."
"Now?" I ask.
"No, when you're free." King Adrian says and I nod in agreement.
After a short silence, he declares.
"Here we are!"
"We're in New York?" I ask, smiling. New York has been one of the places I'd like to go to and somehow, through my captor, I'm there today. This is awesome!
"Welcome to New York!" He says, flashing me a smile and I follow him out of the inner parts of the plane where we are to the passenger seats, before cuddling close to the windows to check out the view.
"Awesome." I whisper to no one in particular as I watch.
The big, green lady with a big green crown on her head and a big green touch on her hand, holding it up comes to view as the plane passes by her to the landing area which is farther away but unlike how I used to see the picture at the academy's magazine, the touch of the green lady is raining down water onto the water park that's built below it.
An original water bender indeed. I mean, most of things I'm seeing here consist of water. Any water bender should be able to save his/herself from danger here.
As the plane goes down, I notice that the landing area is at a farther distance but opposite to commander Oliver Jace's penthouse and behind his penthouse is a large body of water. That sadistic, idiotic, and maniac man, those Harlow's should have killed him. No wonder, he received the title, the ruthless water bender commander.
For some reasons, I feel nausea just thinking about his ruthlessness. What he could do to humans, how his emits and slaves would be treated. He's a mad commander.
Soon, the plane gets down and king Adrian takes my hand and tells me to follow him. At the back of my mind, I'm still wondering why king Adrian is doing this, why is he protecting me from danger when he's the one who forced me to come with him in the first place? He can't leave me be in his kingdom, -rather Lucas' kingdom but since he's the king of all benders, he owns every kingdom and continents. He basically owns the world and he can stay in any continent he likes- and he can't leave me on my own here too. Why is he being protective? I'm bewildered.
Breaking out of thoughts, the view that follows when we reach outside is picturesque and the beauties of the trees and fountain seems statuesque. Oh, my...I'm lost for words.
Noticing the act of king Adrian, I watch him closely and discover that his eyes are glowing. He'll just dart his eyes to the 'men in black', stony-face securities and they will do things.
Now, he faces Mr. Meany, who then faces the men in black and then, they faces another set of men in black and then, those men in black faces another sets of men in black inside cars and then, a black sport car is now facing us. Cool staring contest then!
King Adrian's hand on my back leads me inside, to the back seat as he opens it. And for me not to say, I'm impressed by his actions are lies. Firstly, I thought I will be the one to open my door or perhaps one of the men in black but him...it's surprising.
King Adrian smirks as I make a thank you face to him after sitting and for some reasons, I feel like he's not smirking because I make a face, most likely, he's reading my head.
After he takes the other back seat, the car roars to life and series of other sets of cars follow behind us. Once again, when king talks, money talks. Jeez!
"The once stupid Oliver wanted to build his penthouse on the crown of that green lady." King Adrian whispers to me, leaning close but his eyes are fixed on the big lady, so is his hand.
"Really?" I smile. It seems ridiculous, wanting to build a penthouse there and also I'm thankful, king Adrian is trying to build a conversation between us.
"Yep. Lucas and I had to travel here to stop him. He always hated us for it as if we've sinned him but soon, he grew tired of it and he forgave us." He pause. "His words, not mine." He adds and I giggle, a bit too loudly. For a second, king Adrian's eyes flickers to me and he grins.
Looking back at the tall frame of commander Oliver's penthouse, I ask. "How tall is that penthouse?"
"You're enjoying the view." He says astonishingly, probably because I'm comfortable with him being close and his hands goes down to my lap, tightening his hold there. My breathing raises before a light gasp escape my lips. He must have notice this, because he tightens his hands more and I look over to him.
My voice breaking as I force out my answer even though he didn't ask me questioningly. "Yes, king Adrian. I am."
After saying this, I push together my lips, making them ruffle over one another. "It's not a necessity to utilize my title when we're together, but if you wish you can." He says, coolly. A hint of respect there.
Wait...a hint of respect...I'm losing it.
After a brief minutes, I finally say. "I'm enjoying the view, Adrian." He brings my head to rest on his chest and I see Mr. Meany tilt his head to the side mirror, followed by a small smile on his lips. He catches me looking at him and he lightly bows his head in...respect, I guess before he focuses back on driving.
Why was he watching us, before? And why do I feel like I'm being treated with respect?
Sooner than wanted, the car stops and Mr. Meany informs. "We're here."
"Hmm." Adrian answers and he looks at me from our close position before saying. "Let's go meet Oliver, little fighter." He tilts his head as I move from him. "I didn't answer your question earlier." He then faces the tall penthouse. "Oliver's penthouse is about 1200 to 1300fts."
I scoff surprisingly and follow him out, his hands on my back once again, leading me inside. The outside is emptied of people or rather benders since they've taken the hold of earth. A place once made for humans are now being controlled by benders. How flip-flop the world can change.
As we enter, I hear the other cars engine die too and benders follow behind us while Mr. Meany and his sidekick are walking alongside us.
The tall penthouse seems to reach the sky with varieties of shining lights from the sun, radiating off the many glass windows that seem to make the whole exterior of the building. A statuesque fountain made up with the small image of the big green lady is at the center of the roundabout which is formed by beautiful, evergreen grasses.
"He likes the green lady a lot, for sometime, I thought that was his mate." Adrian whispers close to my hair and I smile sheepishly.
That 'was' his mate? Does he have a mate now? My subconscious says but I wave it off. Who cares.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not smiling because commander Oliver take a liking on the green lady, I'm smiling because Adrian is being a normal human teenager. I guess the saying is right, once you're old, too old. You'll start to behave like a teenager.
Adrian is old, far too old, no wonder he's acting like 19.
We finally get inside, and the doorman opens the door while his eyes glow. As we enter, while I was taking in the beauties- the arranged, big flower vase that's spread out nicely, filling the room with a naturalism scent. The other decorations, designs and most importantly, the luxurious furnitures, making a small living room by the far northern corner. Oh, man! Commander Oliver must be stinking rich. Gosh! He must have spent all his money in building this place.
Another bender with a ponytail mahogany hair, dressed in a casual official dress with at least, a two inches heel shoes, covering her ankles walks to us and greets Adrian by bowing her head.
She raises her body and tells us to follow her. As we gait past, I continue to watch and admire until we get into an elevator that takes us to the highest floor.
Grateful that the elevator is glassy, I continue to admire.
Finally, the door buzz open and we walk out towards a new room.
This particular room is awesome like every other places I've seen here. Windows spread out, making the wall and as we reach the living room, commander Oliver's familiar voice holla.
"Meri (my) friend, welcome." Commander Oliver usher for Adrian to hug him and he did, patting his back while the sound of a video playing in the background fills the room.
"How're ya doing, troublesome?" Adrian greets.
"I'm fine. Just the way you left me." Commander Oliver says, smiling ear to ear.
"Ahh! I don't trust you. Hope you've not been..."
"Nope. Cross my heart." Commander Oliver says, gesturingly crossing his heart and stopping Adrian mid-sentence. "She's been changing me for good. How's yours doing? Is she..."
Adrian cut commander Oliver off this time. "How about we change the subject?"
"Oh! So you don't wanna talk about your mate but mine? That's not happening. We're definitely changing the topic." Commander Oliver grins and Adrian waves him off but still smiles nevertheless.
Commander Oliver says. "If you want to enliven, just watch the year 20s human movies. They're interesting." He goes back to his seats and fix his gaze back to the wide TV.
"Your mate made you watch them?" Adrian ask.
"Yep. You can't win over her." Commander Oliver replies. His mate would actually be a strong-headed bender to be able to force him...wait...did he just say, human movies?
That could only mean one thing...his mate is a human. But what human could be so strict and feisty to force a man as ruthless as commander Oliver to watch her race's movies? I'd like to know his mate.
"Sit, Adrian. Please everyone!" Commander Oliver calls out. "Be free at home." He adds and Adrian shakes his head, grinning.
"When have we not be free at home?" Adrian ask, and commander Oliver clasp his shoulder tenderly, shrugging it before they smile at each other.
"Alex will take you to your room, Ana. Stay close." He says and I roll my eyes at him before Alex leads me. He must know the way because he's just going without seeking for someone to lead us to the right path.
As we go out of the living room, I see that commander Lorenzo, commander Felix and commander Chris are just entering the room. This is definitely not good. Being around many benders.
Mr. Meany finally takes me out of the room and we take another elevator to another higher floor.
***
Governor Louis and Governor Nicklaus in media...along with a lazy Oliver who just want to watch human movies of the year 20s. Note that their world is in year 30s.
King Adrian's POV.
"Should we ask for Ramon to spare us his trackers?" Oliver ask, tiredly as we are all surrounding the strategic table where the war plans are spread out on. We- the two governors of Oliver- Louis, and Nicklaus, Oliver, Chris, Felix, Lorenzo, and I.
Quickly, I answer. "No, no, no we can't. Each of us has one assignments. Ramon's job is to buy the acies mercenaries and since I can't even help him in buying it because of this war, he'll be busy and he'll need his own men. He could have to use his trackers to help his governors when he goes to buying the mercenaries. Let's sort this out ourselves. We can find the locations of the Harlow's without disturbing others."
"Don't mind Oliver, Adrian." Governor Nicklaus says. We, benders are one big families, so being that I'm the king doesn't mean that my friends should be utilizing my titles every time, especially those that are royals. That explains why Nicklaus calls me by name.
"We discussed it, just last week that we already have trackers looking for the Harlow's hidden area. There were last spotted in the Alfred village here in New York." Explains, governor Louis.
"Oh, we did?" Ask, the pathetic Oliver. Mentally, I shake my head for him in pity. "Must have forgotten." He adds.
"You need check up." Nicklaus mutters, earning chuckles from us and a glare from Oliver.
"Being my governor doesn't give you the chance to insult me!" Lightly yells, Oliver.
"At least I've done this anyways. Let's go back to the topic." Says, Nicklaus, already knowing that Oliver wants to change the topic from what we were discussing earlier. He's pretty lazy, right now.
"All we need to do is just to continue searching for their hideouts." Felix says this time around.
"Yeah." I mutter as I tap my hands on the table.
After short silence, Oliver suddenly yells. "Let's take a break and go for a feast! I've been dying to eat and watch movies!"
"Come on!" He rushes us out of the strategic room. Typical Oliver. He's been whipped just...like me, I guess.
Liliana Roslyn's POV.
This place makes sense. I mean, commander Oliver's penthouse is filled with many enlivening products like a video game, TV for movies and other things but I don't want to touch them. Don't know what touching them might result to.
I don't want to give myself any trouble, so here I am, watching movies on the tablet that king Adrian gave me and to say that I'm not having fun is a lie.
Earlier, some humans came into the room and arranged king Adrian's stuff to where they should belong, and when they touch mine, I quickly told them not to worry. I can't let a human, my race to work for me, not because they want to from their heart but because they're told to. It's not what they are happy to do.
So, I've decided that after watching two humanly movies, I'll go unpack my stuff.
While focusing on the screen, a knock sounded on the wooden door. One thing, I hate about this room is that it doesn't open robotically like king Adrian's chamber.
Pausing the movie, I go get the door and open it with a small creak emitting.
A teenage human girl with light blonde hair, green eyes and sharp features bows lightly at me. No, no, no. I don't want this. I don't want anyone to bow to me.
"Lady Liliana." She says as she retract from her bowing.
"Please never call me that again. I'm Liliana and you're free to call me by just Ana." I say firmly.
She smiles and continue, clearly not taking in my words. "Just like lady Rita too, she hates being called a lady but we have no choice than to call you a lady. Anyways, lady Rita would like to see you. If you ready, I'll lead the way."
After saying that, she bows again.
"Who's that?" I ask. Oh, is that commander Oliver's mate? She's definitely a typical and original human. If it's her then I'd have no problem wanting to meet her.
"When you follow me, you'd know." She says, making me know she's not going to reveal this person's personality.
"Okay, let's go." She leads the way and I stride behind her, still amused by this luxurious penthouse.
