Chapter 6 Referendarius
Unedited
Oh! Please! Bitc...
"Liliana!" He snap lightly as he furrowed his brows in response to my stubbornness.
.
.
.
Minute's passed and I routinely and secretly glance over the dim, blurry view of the outside environment through the tinted window as it mechanically speed past.
The silence maintained choke and relieve me at the same time.
"This is Liliana Roslyn; the trouble maker, takes shit from no bender and gives them shit instead. The girl with two heads, the girl who doesn't follow order, the fearless, courageous and doesn't care about death or fears death." My terrorism voice resurface and I mindly hear accolades howling inside my head.
No humans in this universe could ever beat that... No one!
No one, except Liliana Roslyn!
"Why do you save me? To break me or turn me into a slave?" I boldly asked aloud.
He smirk and said humorously. "I knew my arden doesn't stay low for long."
"What the fucking hell is an arden?" I wouldn't dare say that out loud though.
He bent another tainted into his cup as he speak. "You are not a slave but an emit. You don't stay much in class, uh?"
He figured that out too quickly.
Commander smart callous is he.
... But aren't emit the worst slave ever known. They...
"Depends on their owner!" He once again invade my privacy. "It depends on the owner, who may do whatever he wants. For me... I like my properties to be intact. My emits are not to look miserable even though they are been feed on."
"You have more than one emit?"
"Yeah! I'm not a kind who kills their emit every year before buying another."
I quickly recall Mrs Rogue saying. "Let her be Dominic! She's going to be marked as an emit anyway, perhaps commander Lucas will choose her."
Ignoring his last statement, I asked. "If I'm not a slave but an emit, then I'm also one of your emit."
He snicker. "No! I'm going to buy my own emit. I just took you along, so you wouldn't let your arden-self get you killed by the guards before I'd return." He paused to check out the time, turning on his phone.
He return his phone back to his pocket. "I told you at the ship that someone will love to have the kinds of you, and luckily the someone did. You are his emit."
I avoid asking him about the someone. Something tells me that he's not ready to reveal the someone's identity to me.
My brain flashes back to his unclear words which he said to me while we were at the room. Allowing him to gulp down tainted, I iterate his words. "I hate them too."
"What does it mean?" I reluctantly asked.
He glance over the window, obviously staring at the blurry outside view.
Well... I'm not sure. Maybe to him, the view might not be blurry. I kind of not know his capabilities.
I should have stayed in class, learning all about benders, especially the royals, had I known that I'd one day be with one.
"Bad dreams. I hate bad dreams too." He reply, still facing the outside view.
I thoroughly recheck my memories to know if there are still some of his words that I don't understand.
As soon as another clicks, I hurriedly asked.
Without remembering his whole words. "Talents, do you also read my mind when you said: My talents are worth... "
While hoping he'd remember the remains of his words, he smirk as he drops his cup and pick up the magazine on his lap, changing the topic.
"You can think of me as a monster like most do or call me whatever you want- commander callous-commander Bitch... I saved you from your bastard instructor, not to kill or hurt you painfully in any cruel way. You are s..." His voice trail off as he face the front after which the stupid, harsh driver pull back and off the engine.
"We are here, sire!" He say.
"Thanks, Roland." Commander Lucas said and face me again.
"How about we finish our discussion some other time, little arden."
A guard from one of the SUVs afront us, opened the car-door for commander Lucas.
"Come on, let's go do some shopping." He said, alighting the vehicle.
Shopping! Is that what we are to them. He's fucking buying a slave and he calls it; Shopping. He must be a maniac.
I alight, opening the car-door myself as I follow commander Lucas path while bowing my head.
Anne has done a great a job in teaching me some lessons about my new life-role.
A helix skyscraper building welcomes us on which a bold writing 'Referendarius' lies followed by another just below it, which says 'Emits' at the very top of the first floor outside the building. Civilian benders bows for commander Lucas while some holds their slaves with collars and leashes, some... Their slaves just walk behind them, and some... Has no slave with them.
He looks unaffected by the greetings he's receiving as his posture stands authoritative, walking towards his destination.
I don't know why he wouldn't choose me as his emit. He's nice and nice authorizer are hard to find.
"Ana continue to play nice. We don't want to see the other side of him." I repeat in my head, over and over again.
Now that I don't know much about benders, perhaps most of my believes about them might be wrong. I need to find a way to learn the real truth about each bender tribe and their powers.
A hefty door man who wears a plain black outfit with a black shade-glass, opens the door for us as he bow lightly.
We enter into a small and fascinating room, where a pale-skin, blond hair and sharp features female bender sit behind a counter that is fixed to the southern corner of the room.
On sighting commander Lucas, the lady sharply bow her head, smiling as she walks towards us. Even with my head bent I could see her throwing me hatred glares which I ignore as I maintain a subservient act that's currently killing me.
She walks ahead, escorting us to another room.
" You don't have much fans, do you?" Commander Lucas voice say in my head.
"Not from benders." I reply in my head.
"... And neither from humans. Your memories shows that much humans don't befriend you."
"Yeah! Because they are dorkazoid that can't fight back. They think I'm stupid for not being submissive." I said huffily.
The obscure steel door open after she leans forward, closer to a technical eye scanning flat screen machine by the door fixed to the plain steel wall.
I gasp at the beauty we walk into. The room is extremely tall on the inside. The glassy walls allows light to radiate from sky and into the room, where tons of helix stairs are lined up to the very top. Each emit stands on each steps with a leash and collar tied around their neck and chained up to an erected steel bar behind them, like that, reaching to the atop of the curly inside of the skyscraper. There are pellucid elevators attach to the walls at few meters from one another which allows transportation for benders to move from bottom to top of the building and a metal bridge that links the elevators to the steps allowing benders to walk to the emit that wish to buy.
"Welcome to the referendarius, commander Lucas." She says as she courteously stretch forth her hands for him to enter the elevator.
Commander Lucas tilt his head in a 'come on, follow me' way and I did without arguing.
The elevator move us past different frame of humans while benders in the other elevators bow their head.
I think royalties don't come here much or at all because of the surprised facial expression on these benders faces. They seem shock to see commander Lucas come here.
"Royalties don't come here my sharp little arden."
Oh, gosh! When will he stop reading my thoughts. Human girls need privacy, for goodness sake.
"Since you don't like talking aloud, guess we should talk on the inside then." He said, facing and winking at me.
"Why don't royalties come here?" I asked as curiosity wouldn't leave me alone.
"Your school performance must be incredibly poor with these things that you seem not to know. You for sure are gonna be an emit already according to this year rules." He smile on the outside. "Royalties don't come here because we choose our emit at the audition room while the rest come here so non-royal benders can choose theirs."
I wanted to use this opportunity to ask if he can teach me more things about benders that I don't know when a familiar frame caught my eyes. I try to remember where I know the figure from and... "Linda!" It clicks.
Linda is a friend of my friend and a foe of mine. She's one of the dorkazoids who'd think that one day they'd fall in love with one of the royalties and they'd be free from the cruelty of nowadays world. She's one of those who'd get jealous of a friend of their friend. She's Rita's friend and Rita is my friend but she's a foe to me. Her filthy self makes me hate her the more as my brows starts to furrow in anger.
Memories of Rita floods back to me and I feel tears blurring my visions as I regret opening my big, stupid, and uncontrollable mouth to annoy Mrs Rogue at the academy. I'd have been there the day she'd got separated from me and got transferred to a new place. May be she has been bought, maybe not! Maybe she's here, maybe not! I just pray she doesn't get stuck in the same brutal fate as mine.
Suddenly a thought clicks in my mind. Linda might be key in knowing where Rita is. She might know her whereabout or where she got transferred to.
Now my prayers has taken a new dimension of; "Please, sweet heavens. Let commander Lucas choose Linda as his emit."
The elevator suddenly halt as we are a bit far from Linda's stair.
Commander Lucas cuts his eye at me and I immediately bow again dispersing the thought from my mind.
He lightly chortle and walk out of the elevator to the metal bridge, towards Lina.
Lina's breathing increases as her eye flare while the metal leash rattle as she tries to move from her stuck position. Tears roll down her cheek as she begs for mercy."
"We haven't touch her yet and she's already begging. She's a weak one, don't you think?" This time he asked aloud, leaning closer to my ear.
I want to shout to his ears that he's crazy for thinking that she wouldn't beg or get afraid but I need to keep my cool if that's what it'll take to know Rita's whereabout.
To say the truth, apart from using Linda as a tool. I didn't want her to suffer. Rita wouldn't be happy to find out that one of her friends end up in a bad situation, not to talk of two of her friends.

***************************
The shrilly cries of Linda decease as we leave the "pet library" as informed by the lady whom I now know to be called the "pet librarian" right after commander Lucas compel her to sleep.
One of the guards that escort us, come in and take her away into the SUVs.
Commander Lucas just finish settling issues with the pet librarian, a while ago when a fruity, gruffish voice beams from a few inches beside him. "Lucas, my old Bitch friend!"
He accept the friendly hug which the figure share with him as they intimately taps each other's back.
Commander Lucas greet back. "Cornelio Lorenzo, my old worrisome friend!"
Commander Lucas's friend watch me with amusement as he ask. "Your slave don't adhere to lessons?"
"She's new. She'd learn soon enough." He reply with a bit anger.
... And that's when I knew I've done something wrong. Again I failed to follow the simple principles, now my death is near. I'm sure its near me, just hiding until the right time.
"Kneel now and seek forgiveness."
I may want to act 'nice girl' but kneeling, especially for a bender... I'd never in my life do i...
"Stop being hard-headed, little arden."
"No! I'm not gon..."
"You have to, or I'll have to punish you. "
"Whatever you wanna do, do it, 'cause you've got a stro..."
High-pitch screams from the outside cuts me off, follow by the sudden rush in of five guards. Three air benders from the guards creates a globe of air as they cup their hands swirly and hurl it at us, enveloping us as it enlarges into a massive shield while the other two water benders blows frozen particles from their mouth and onto the air.
The guards surround the shield, waiting to attack any foreign incoming threat.
Out of nowhere, a massive fragmentary rock that's as big as the universe itself hover flashily from outside, breaking through the walls and its shadow covering us as it almost fall on us.
Commander Lucas quickly as a flash bend water from the two water benders hands and turns it into an elongated hand-shaped figure that tucks the guard towards the globe and stretch its hand to the outside of the small room and carrying us out of the building.
He squoosh another water at one of the SUVs to carry Linda out of the car. He then motion Linda and I together and then froze our surrounding to protect us.
Just before the ice could blur my vision entirely. Commander Lucas eye glow deep bluish-white while commander... Commander Lorenzo's glow a terrifying scarlet-red.
Rumbling roars of clouds fills the atmosphere as the two commanders walk towards the benders in the far distance.
Commander Lucas' POV.
After I made a protective ice globe to protect my little arden and my new emit.
Lorenzo and I walk towards two earth benders harlow's that stands lethally in the far distance waiting for us right after we both open our connection barrier so we can communicate faster.
As we walk towards them, few meters away. A earth bender by the left walk two steps closer and announces. "Your wretch life will soon be taken to hell, mercilessly by the commanders of the one and only king of all universe. 'Frederick Harlow'. Do you want to die here or at home sweet home?!"
"Why are you guys an enemy of progress? Your cockless king sent us away from our world and we accept our fate. Now you wanna send us away from here too?!" He face the bender by the left. "... And you, why didn't you go for comedy. Your humour..."
"Seriously?" I unbelievably asked Lorenzo, cutting him off.
"Should I attack first?" I asked through the mental barrier connection.
Lorenzo acerbically reply. "Oh, no! I'm the eldest here, so I take the first bite."
Before the harlow's could made an attacking move at us, Lorenzo clench his fist on the ground and a weighty roars of fire move towards them.
The harlow's quickly bend a protective coating of a hard rock that obstruct the fire but some hit them.
Rains falls profusely on my command and I once again mind link Lorenzo who nod his head in agreement. "Careful, they are going to attack unexpectedly anytime soon."
As expected, the protective rock suddenly cease and one harlow's made a side roll over in which in response, three prismatic rock fly over towards me while I hurriedly turns the moist air into a hefty solid crystals of ice that hit the rock, turning it into tiny particles. Out of the corner of my eye, I see Lorenzo struggling his own opponent.
As the harlow's touch the ground they bash their fist into earth and it's surface split so deep that molten fire erupt from earth and swoosh towards us. Lorenzo and I divert the fire back to them, and he sweeps his leg skillfully, several times which cause multiple blaze-folds of fire to move towards the harlow's while I connect with my bivatar powers. As soon as they finish defeating Lorenzo's fire. I move inhumanly with the aid of the moist air towards them.
On touching their heads, I compel them. A strong unknown force fights me as I vigorously use all my strength to not let go.
My eye glow more like a flashlight while my body radiate blue oceans of electricity that flows through my veins.
One of the harlow's make a move to kill me as l unfortunately was unable to conquer the mysterious force that was long way beyond my reach, but was fortunate to read their mind and know their master plan.
Before my death could click, Lorenzo in his bivatar state somehow save me as I'm too weak to know much. My eyelids feels heavy to keep open and I succumb to darkness as I'm too fragile to stay within light...
