Chapter 12 NewsNet Channel
A new life had yet again came calling, and while I was contemplating something else, destiny had some other plans for me again, but this time I accepted it as I strongly believed that God had planned something better for me this time. In this journey, I learned that we sometime may take good turns or bad ones, that sometimes you can lose and sometimes you win. People may sometime change situations may sometime change, the way your life was can also change but no matter what happens you should always move forward with your head held high . I had no idea that I would be able to receive this kind of offer, it surprised me. Utkarsh dropped me near the building. Before entering, I prayed to God that whatever no matter whatever type of obstacles that I might face, I can still rise up from it.
“Morning rituals, huh,” I suddenly heard someone say it from my back, I glanced and saw it was Ishita, who had seen me praying to God.
“No, just a small prayer,” I turned back and replied. “That’s a good thing”, she hugged me like she had done
yesterday. She looked so gorgeous in her office uniform. “Nervous?” she asked.
“A bit,” I replied.
“Don’t worry, it will be fine, our office is on the second floor of this building, c’mon now let’s go in together,” Ishita showed me the way to the lift. In no time, I was inside the NewsNet’s office. The environment of the office was unbelievable, everyone looked so enthusiastic and serious about their work. The first room was the where the journalist was working, then came the green print stage where all reports were analyzed and submitted. Every person there were analyzing and processing all type of data and information and compiling them into a series of news for the channel. And the last room of the office was the resting area which was right beside the director’s chamber. Ishita introduced me to him and completed the remaining procedures for the job.
She then took me to the stage area, where she introduced me to her team.
Vikas Menon, Dilshan Thapar, Rohan Pathak, and Saanvi Rudra. After all of the introduction were done, they welcomed me to the team. A good vibe came from them, their cheerful faces and attitude made me feel that my life was once again back on the right track. They helped create a friendly environment for me where they helped and guided me with all the how’s of the job. The way they helped me with the job and all its proceedings made me feel so comfortable and warm.
“Avinash Sir, we are working on a report of the LokShakti Party, for a news bulletin. We wanted you to join it, and began your research on it”, Vikas said.
“Yes Avi, I also think you should take this project, it should help you get started,” Ishita added.
“Understood I will begin researching everything about the party, and also thank you for having me” I said.
"Alright then,” Ishita said as she took out a laptop from her bag along with a brand new diary. She handed it over to me and said, “Avi, here you go, you can begin your research on this.”
“Alright but what about you?” I asked her.
“I will use my other laptop… you can use mine until yours has arrived,” she replied.
“Ok, then.”
Everyone looked so thrilled discussing about their experiences in life. I always wanted to meet new people, make friends and work alongside them. And these people were all worth it, I had developed a unique bond with them in a span of four hours, they quickly became a part of my family. We sat in the office canteen for lunch, and finally Dilshan suddenly asked.
“Avinash, can you tell me a bit about yourself and your family?” On his left Saanvi was sitting, she nudged him for asking that question. “Don’t get tense Saanvi, let him ask it’s alright?” I said.
“In my family there is my dad, my younger sister Aparna and my brother Utkarsh.”
“That’s sounds like a good family”, Dilshan said.
“Yes, they are, I really love them, especially my younger sister, it’s because of her that I am here today,” I said proudly.
“Sisters are often like best friends” He said.
“Yes, you are right. It feels like I can do anything for her.” I responded.
My first day in NewsNet was very successful, not only had I made new friends with whom I now had a unique bond but I also found a new source for joy, laughter and love again. I ended my shift with a big smile on my face. When I thought that this day couldn’t get any better, I saw Utkarsh with a brand new car.
“Oh my god Utkarsh, you bought a new car.” I exclaimed with joy.
“Yeah, buddy, perks of promotion” he replied joyously. “That’s wonderful, congratulations bro,” I excitingly said. “Thanks buddy, let us go for a ride then,” he said.
“Hell yeah, Can I drive?”
“Sure Avinash, it’s all yours,” I sat inside the car and was about to start when he suddenly told me to wait. He told me to wait.
“Waiting for someone Utkarsh?” I asked him.
“Yes, buddy. I wanted to tell you something,” Utkarsh told me in a serious tone.
“Everything’s fine, right bro?”, I got tense.
“Yaa, don’t worry I just wanted to tell you something. Buddy, I am in a relationship with a girl, we are getting married in the next ten days.”
“No way bro, are you serious, that’s awesome bro, I am so happy for you man,” I said as I hugged him and patted on his shoulder.
“Oh my god, you’re seriously gonna give me a heart attack now. First you helped me make this important decision, then you bought this car, and now you are telling me you’re getting married,” I said tipping in excitement.
“So who is the lucky girl, buddy?” I asked.
“Just wait for five minutes, you’ll see for yourself”.
After five minutes had passed, I saw Saanvi coming towards the car, smiling towards Utkarsh, she went and sat inside the car. Now, it was all clear to me, Saanvi was the girl that Utkarsh is going to marry.
“Oh! You were waiting for Saanvi, that’s amazing,” I said. “Saanvi, why didn’t you also tell me about your relationship
with Utkarsh? “ I asked.
“Sorry, Utkarsh told me not to tell anything” Saanvi answered.
