Chapter 27 Encounter
Debjit was getting calls from his senior for updates on the case. Because of the last bomb attack, a sense of panic was created, and ordinary people were scared to come out of their houses. A lot of pressure was on him and couldn’t reply to any of the seniors. He was concentrating on the case. He closed his eyes and remembered the time he had spent with his daughter. He smiled. Then, the blood bash events and the blasts flashed in his mind. And he ran into grief. Finally, an unknown man came up against his eyes. His face wasn’t visible. He was standing tall pointing gun at him. He shot him. He opened his eyes with a sense of revenge growing inside him.
“Avinash, you will pay for your sins,” He reticulated and was firm. They had been leading now. The information about Dubai was correct and Debjit believed that this could help them grab Avinash. After receiving Dubai’s knowledge, they applied for a funds grant for Advait to go to Dubai. However, the process was seven days long, and they didn’t have a second to spare Debjit, from his own pocket, paid for Advait’s visa and ticket expenditure. Advait was ready to leave on the next flight to Dubai.
“Advait, we have tried everything here to get Avinash. If you need to find him, get the key person Avinash is trying to cover. She is his weakness. Get her.”
“Yes Sir.”
“You know me, who I am pointing at?” Debjit asked. “Yes. Ishita Kapoor”
“We are going to target her and automatically Avinash will be on the run to save her.” Debjit was confident his point and administered hope to Advait to successfully return from the mission.
“Keep me updated on each and everything once you land,” Debjit told him. They were at the airport terminal 9, waiting for the announcement of the flight. Advait, on the information, greeted Debjit and left for the journey. Debjit, after seeing him off, went home.
His wife opened the door for him. She had prepared dinner for him and was making the chappatis. He didn’t talk with her and didn’t say anything. They went off to sleep and the same feelings for Debjit came out. He was looking at Myra’s photo. Through all the upheaval of his life. He set himself determined, he was firm. There was an unassailable confidence in his eyes that said he could do it. He was ready for revenge for his lost daughter. He felt a warrior inside him awakening. He slept peacefully that night, talking with his mobile in his arms. Debjit’s real self was back. He woke early in the morning and apologized to his wife for his rude behavior. He resolved all the misunderstanding with his wife. She was so cooperative before Debjit could explain his condition. She understood each and everything and was happy to see Debjit’s new aura of care.
Debjit was happy as something was elevating his spirits, lifting him from the mire of whatever was normal. He was now on his office table, contacting every informer he knew to get the location of Avinash. Advait called him and told him that he was in Dubai now and had started the investigation. With Advait’s call, he also assured his seniors that he was going to solve the case soon. We remember the verse, ‘where there is a will, there is the way.’ The same thing happened while he was contacting people. He got a call from the same informer, who told them about the Jaghdheer incident.
“Sir, he is coming tonight. He is planning something big.” The informer was running and Debjit couldn’t hear him correctly.
“What happened? Is there any problem? You are talking to ”
“I am being chased by someone I am in danger, I just want to tell you about this,” the informer replied,
“Please help me, Sir.”
“Tell me, where are you at this moment? I am coming,” Debjit said.
“Somewhere in Shashi Island, the location. ” he hung up.
Before the informer could tell his location, he was attacked from behind. Debjit hurriedly drove the car to the muddy island region. After reaching, he searched for him and kept on trying his phone but there was no reply. The place was so big, he couldn’t search the entire area. However, he kept on looking for him for an hour or so. then, as he almost gave up, he found a mobile phone. It was of the informer. The phone was utterly discharged; he tried to power it on but hard luck. He went back to the department and unlocked the phone. He searched for any information he could get from it. They checked the messages, calls. While he was going through the phone, his eyes took him straight back to messages, and he opened the outbox. A message resonated. He got it also, a message in the outbox saying that.
‘Konkan Port. 10 p.m. Today.”
...
“Good Evening, sir” Advait said.
“Yes Advait, what’s the position?” Debjit asked.
“After reaching here, I contacted my friend. He got information that the Dhiman family lives in Ghantoot,”
“Then, you went on there or not?”
“I went there. In fact, I am standing right in front of the house. But it’s locked. I inquired from the neighbors. They don’t know about them,” Advait explained.
“Okay, any other information you got?” “No Sir.”
“There might be something to it,” Debjit thought.
“I am perplexed about what to do. I see no way out of this.” Advait was worried
“There is one. Avinash’s dad is a medical patient.” Debjit got an idea.
“Yes.”
“His treatment. He must be taking treatment from somewhere, from some hospital or something. Now, your job is to contact every hospital there and enquire about him. It can lead us to some result.” Debjit was optimistic about it
“Bravo, Sir. Thank you so much. Let’s get started then, Sir.”
“All the best and be careful,” Debjit cautioned him.
A police team was ready for the operation. Debjit was leading them from the front. The main aim was to catch Avinash red-handed, all equipped with their best weapons. They didn’t want to miss this golden chance; everyone was given his duties. It was the plan that at every exit point, there would be a police, secretly hiding around the corners. When Avinash arrives, they will ask him to surrender there only. Everything was going as per plan, hiding at each corner were police officers. waiting for the Debjit’s signal. It was almost
11.30 pm now. The Police waited.
After a few minutes, Debjit could see a boat coming from far. Its green light flashed upon the post; the grunting light was direct to his eyes, causing a glimpse on the post to see the person. As the boat was coming in close, the police were looking to grab it from all corners. But an unexpected thing happened. The ship, which seemed to slow its speed, suddenly picked up speed. It was blazing like a broken star. The boat thrashed upon the sliding post, leading to rustle and bustle in the area—every person along the ship, helplessly watched what was happening. The speed of the boat was so fast that it crunched on and fired on the road.
A person came out of that boat and starting running to the residential area. He was wearing a long black coat with blue jeans and a baller’s hat on his head. His face was covered with a mask. Debjit, with his companions, chased the person and fired at him. They didn’t want to shoot him on his head because they wanted to catch him alive. The shots fired hit him but it didn’t affect him. Debjit figured out that he was wearing a bullet-proof jacket inside his coat. He was moving quickly. He jumped inside a residential building on the next street and it created a problem for Debjit and his team to grab him from inside the society. They didn’t want to harm any civilians, so they entered without making a noise.
Debjit was helpless now. He was unable to enter the towers. The suspected criminal now founded a safe place to hide in. It created a challenging situation for them, as people came out of their homes listening to the police sirens and the officers in numbers. They started to protest, they wanted them to leave the place as soon as possible. But, Debjit didn’t want to miss the golden opportunity. He asked his force to cover the four corners of the society so that the suspect won’t escape and they can find him inside and arrest him red-handed. Then, he made an announcement.
