Chapter 29 Story Unfolds
Debjit came out of the police department. He desired to have a cup of tea, so he went to the tea stall adjoining the department building. He ordered two cups of tea for himself. He was tired of all the pressure and with what had happened during the encounter incident. He wanted to be left alone; he had to improvise himself. He tried to relax. He took out his mobile, opened her daughter’s photo again, and held it close to his heart. Debjit started now feeling good again and he slowly regained his calm and composed self after the two days of the massacre. His tea had arrived and he almost took a sip when, a constable came running towards him shouting his name.
“What happened, Balwant Ram?” he asked him curiously. “Sir, we have found a dead body from the mud island
area,” he spoke out.
“Fuck, are you serious?”
“Yes, Sir. We found the body floating on water. More than a day had passed since it was in the water it was now totally swollen,” constable told him.
“Oh my god, what is happening? Another killing,” Debjit proclaimed.
After listening to the constable, he headed towards the spot. The corpse was almost devoid of its color and was bloated with water. The face of the body was terribly swollen, sending a foul smell. The blood residue was flowing down the water stream cause of the grievous injury found on his back. Debjit checked his pocket and found an ID card. He was Ravi Jha (informer) whom Debjit was searching for. He further searched his pants and his wallet. He found a piece of paper wrapped in a plastic zip-locked bag. He unwrapped it and found out that it was a letter written for him from Avinash.
Dear Debjit Bhai
Be afraid if you are reading this. As this is the last time that I am warning you, I don’t know why I am doing this. But as you and everyone from the police department are out to catch me, I no longer have any other choice. I am on a mission, which is nearing its end. You got only seventy-two hours left. Good Luck and be careful, if anyone try to get in my way, I’ll end them no matter who they are.
Regards Avinash
“What is it, sir?” the constable asked. “It’s a warning,” Debjit replied. “What does it mean?”
“I am not quite sure, but I can say this much, he is all fired up for the last task” Debjit concluded. He rechecked the dead body but couldn’t find anything else. The case was now getting out of control and the only way out from this mess was through Advait’s investigation. It all depended on him as Debjit now had no idea on what to do next.
“Who is his next target?” Debjit mumbled to himself.
Then, he immediately called Advait, eager to tell him that the informer had died, and wanted an update from Advait’s side.
“Advait, is everything on your side alright?” Debjit asked “Yes, Sir. But why are you asking?”
“Cause I am going nuts over here. Our informer has been murdered. Our last hope depends on your investigation, have you reached the spot or not?” Debjit wasn’t able to control his emotions anymore. He felt really irritated by the events that occurred.
“I am heading towards the spot, I will be there soon. Don’t worry Sir, just relax and don’t panic. We are almost close to catching him.” Advait said confidently.
“Yes, I believe in you.”
“Advait, whatever it is we need it.”
“I will try my best, Sir Once the weather gets back to normal. People can barely move from here, there is so much dust flying around and obstructing our view” Advait said clarifying the trouble he is currently facing.
“Wait, what’s the weather condition over there?” Debjit asked.
“They are saying that there is a sandstorm and due to it all flights have now been delayed, and an emergency has been declared in the city. I hope everything gets better soon,” Advait said hopefully.
“I don’t know how you are going to make it happen but I want you to bring Ishita back here as soon as possible,” Debjit requested him.
“I’ll be there soon Sir, I promise,” Advait assured him.
Debjit disconnected the call. He was sure that Advait would be able to successfully complete his mission. He started thinking of ways to stop Avinash. He started to think like Avinash. He knew that Avinash didn’t want any justice, as he had already chosen the darkest path. But he had to find some way or another to stop him and to make him realize about all the destruction he has caused. He started forming a plan when, suddenly his phone rang. It was Vikas, Avinash’s colleague from the news channel. He picked it up.
“Hello Debjit Sir”
“Yes Vikas, why did you suddenly call me?” Debjit asked. “Sir, you told me that day. If I recalled anything about
Avinash, I should call you,” Vikas said. “Yes,”
“I think I know what he is going to do next” Vikas said.

In Dubai
Advait reached the address. The house was a long and narrow building, it seemed like it was only eleven feet wide from the front, but it was about thirty feet long. It was only two stories high and had a one-story extension at the rear. The wooden frame windows were highlighting the house with old age like brickwork done on the wall. It looked a little weird but it was beautifully decorated. A small rose garden had been planted in the front of the building, alongside the main gate where two security guards were on their duty. Advait asked them about ‘Ishita Kapoor. They had conveyed Advait’s message inside the building through a landline. After a minute, a beautiful lady came out. Advait thought that she was Ishita, but she wasn’t Ishita but Saanvi.
“Can I meet Ishita Kapoor please,” Advait requested her. “Alright, but I don’t recognize you. Does she know you?”
Saanvi asked
“Actually, I am from the Mumbai Police Department, I’m here due to an investigation of a case, can I meet her?” Advait said.
“She is not at home right now.” Saanvi said cunningly. As She started going back inside the building.
Advait got the confirmation he needed. Saanvi looked frightened after listening to his designation. From her body language Advait deduced that she was hiding something. Advait didn’t want to miss this opportunity. He shouted.
“It’s about Avinash Sampath, Please ma’am. Let me come
in.”
She got numb for a moment and without saying anything,
she came towards him and opened the gate for him. Advait then entered the living room. It was really big and felt as if it was around nineteen inches long. She then asked him to sit.
“Where is Avinash?” she suddenly asked.
“I came here to investigate Ms. Ishita. I don’t know where he is right now?” Advait stated.
“She also doesn’t know where he is, it’s been so many months. We haven’t seen or heard from him or Utkarsh?” Saanvi whined.
“We are trying to find Avinash that’s why I came here. Ishita is the only one who can stop all this as he still loves her,” Advait told her, as he desperately wanted Saanvi to believe him.
“How did you know about Avinash and Ishita” Saanvi asked.
“Ma’am, please let me talk to Ishita. I will explain everything to her. We got very little time left. I need to talk to her,” Advait requested her.
“What are you talking about? We still have time?” “Avinash is now a violent criminal. He can do anything.
He has already killed hundreds of people. We don’t know what he is going to do next. Only Ishita can help us stop him soo please stop asking me questions and take me to her.” Advait shouted almost in a demanding voice, he had lost his cool.
Saanvi saw that Advait was fuming anger. Advait got up and started searching the house. He went into the kitchen, bedroom, even the back side of the house. He was about to go upstairs when he heard cracking noise coming from the main door. A woman entered with groceries in her hand. She saw Saanvi puzzled, sitting on the sofa. She came to her. Advait also joined them.
“Who are you?” she asked.
“My name is Advait Chauhan. I am the sub-Inspector of the Mumbai Police Department. Are you Ishita?” Advait answered.
“Yes, but how did you know my name?” she inquired.
“I came here to find you, I want you to help me,” Advait
said.
“What is he talking about, Saanvi?”, Ishita asked Saanvi.
Saanvi told her to sit. She explained to her about the reason for Advait visit there. Saanvi said he needs her help to stop Avinash.
“I am not going to help you in any matter, its better you go back,” Ishita said bossily.
“I came here to take you along with me Ishita, please understand that we need your help,” Advait begged her.
“You need my help. Where were you when five months back, Avinash was looking for justice for his sister?” she said agitated.
“Justice?” Advait got peculiar about it. “I am aware that something wrong had happened with Avinash. I read about it from his diary, I am familiar with one half of his story. But I want to know what happened next,” Advait said.
