The Earth of mist ch17
Ch17
The relationship between Naomi and her mother was strange and complicated, unlike the mother's relationship with the rest of Naomi's brothers.
Naomi's brother Jeff always hated her because she was the only one with a mother's love and money.
After Naomi was killed in such a brutal way, the mother's heart became suspicious of Jeff eating the food in front of her at the food table she had made for all her children, and she thought, Is he really the killer of her daughter? He could have killed his sister and he didn't care.
Jeff looked his mother in the eye, but he fed on indifference, wanted to leave her unanswered just to get back at her, and kissed her on her forehead before he left.
Naomi always wanted to get out of that house and not come back since she was young after her father left.
Only Jeff knew that Naomi thought her mother was the reason their father left home forever, and that Naomi was looking for her father.
It took Naomi years to look for her father until she found his address and finally got herself ready to go and meet him. Naomi later regretted it, but to no avail, it all started there.
For years, Maureen used to deal with dead bodies in the most brutal way, and she did not feel scared, but it is their duty to find out the truth and bring those who did it to justice. It is justice and pure truth that is all Maureen's faith in life.
But a very bad feeling has trapped her since she dealt with Maureen's body, because that woman Naomi was brutally murdered, and it was imitating what was being done on her body, not just assault and murder.
A while ago Maureen wasn't talking directly to Jason, so when his phone rang and found her number, he was worried and quickly responded: Maureen, are you okay? Maureen replied, I don't know, you have to come to the lab. He quickly and solemnly replied, I am on my way.
It was a rainy night like that thirty years ago when he first saw Maureen in the lab, still young and not recognizing family or marriage and never planning to become a mother when Jason dreamed of becoming a father.
Maureen, too, remembered that woman she was years ago, how confident she was.
Now, after what happened to her only daughter, Christine, she feels deeply hurt because Christine does not accept her mother and thinks she does not love her.
Only Jason knew what was going on, but he couldn't do anything, and both Maureen and Christine got mad at him.
But Maureen never told anyone, not even her only friend Amy, that she deliberately drove away in front of her little diner just to check on her, without ever having to face them both directly.
Every time Maureen did her autopsy work, she thought, What if the next victim was her only daughter, having chosen to walk away from her what if she did something wrong and went to jail?
But Amy tried to be as good as her only friend and told her that things were happening Christine might be angry now, but there would come a time when she understood why Maureen was really afraid.
It's Maureen's secret that only Amy knows about.
It's the one secret Jason doesn't know about his wife Maureen.
Jason progressed and hugged Maureen after seeing her pale face, taking his face away from the remains on the table. Although it has been years since Jason's work, the oddity of the crimes he has seen on the victims' bodies by sick criminals makes him feel disgusted, he too was afraid for Christine to become a victim, and he never told anyone that he had asked for help and psychological support to get over the idea of his daughter being killed by a monster.
Maureen goes back and says there's something wrong with these murders. Jason is nervous, he's trying to understand, he says, What does this mean? Maureen said, There's something between Naomi and Selma. Look, Jason.
She pointed to the skeleton below and said, The uterus has been removed from the two bodies. Jason said, "How, why?" Maureen said, I don't know yet, but I think there's something between Salma and Naomi. Jason said, Is there a clue?
Jason was surprised at Maureen that she was not her usual self. Maureen, explaining to Jason, said, The pelvis was removed as if it were an operation, but Jason anxiously said, But what?
But the two victims were alive, Maureen said with emotion: What do you mean did they know that? Maureen said, Yes, I think so, they agreed.
As Jason tries to comprehend what Maureen says, Bailey is carefully watching a new goal. During his years of work, he never missed his goal. A man in his 40s was out throwing garbage in the morning and committed to staying home with his family on Sundays. Since Bailey started watching him, the man in his 40s did not change his habits. The 40s are stalling. Bailey couldn't refuse. Years ago, he had to fight the guilt of killing his partner next to him without being able to help him and then endure the eyes of his partner's children, and then he fell easily into a gambling addiction. Bailey tried hard to keep his job and nobody knew, but over time it developed and Bailey got involved.
Bailey also knew he could no longer return with further orders from the mysterious man. The next morning, morning TV shows, reported the discovery of the body of a 40-year-old man whose body had been maimed in a forest by a young jogger.
Jason stood watching the recovery of a new dead body as reporters at the scene took pictures and tried to get information exclusive to them. Maureen seemed so stressed because she had been working for weeks on the case and had not yet been able to reach the killer that she felt she was not what she was in the past, especially after she came out with a strong competition for Dr. Maureen and began to make her premonitions through online videos in which she also accused Maureen of being incompetent
What is more, a popular evening show featuring Dr. Sarah, a rival of Maureen's, always presents theories without evidence on screen and begins a bizarre online attack campaign against Maureen.
