The Earth of mist ch20
Ch20
Christine hasn't felt this much anger in a long time. Christine Stewart stood in the middle of the household detergent room to prepare the biggest cleaning and disinfecting of everything. Christine felt it wasn't just the house that wasn't clean, but her body as well, so when she finished a thorough cleaning, she went to a shower. Years ago she was diagnosed with OCD, but she refused and rebelled. She was watching her body in the bathroom mirror and the blood stain was too red.
Christine watched a protrusion in her body, feeling her hand with her eyes closed. She still hears the screams of the other girl who was brutally raped while she was still thinking about Maureen at the moment, Christine almost swears she saw her fucking face watching what was happening to her with these two wild men, and looks at Christine, lamented: I knew you were a loser from the beginning, so it happens to you.
She closes her eyes as she rubs her hair well as it falls to the ground. She still hears the sound of their breath in her nightmares Gilbert does not succeed in erasing them from her body. The relationship with Gilbert was never good, both were not satisfied, but asked after it was over Are you happy? She lies and she answers Yes, knowing she is, but he turns away from her and sleeps deeply. It has not been like this for many years; Gilbert has saved her from death several times. But he is always afraid to mention these men, even though he knows them well. Years passed and Christine's life was unbearable until one night she heard another voice. She remembers that night eleven years ago.
It was one long, exhausting night of work in a distant city where she had to work a lot to raise money. It was raining hard outside, and Kristen was moving fast through tables and chairs to serve the customers.
She waited tips from clients to be compensated by hard work while Gilbert inside cooked for clients fish recipes that everyone loved.
As she fell from exhaustion and wrote a new request, she heard the voice at the round table behind her, laughing next to a young woman and sharing loud jokes with her.
She felt her entire body was sweating and terrified and thought everyone was looking at her and watching her, while in fact a client was yelling at her late at night bringing his order while she ran inside and entered the bathroom, locked her door and let her body fall to the ground. She didn't know how long she was unconscious until she was awakened by Gilbert, who was looking for her everywhere.
She thought, How did Gilbert change like that? He could be with another woman? Why would all men do the same thing with her: Jason, then Gilbert, and now Peter, who disappeared from yesterday and doesn't answer her phone? She thought he must have left when he realized that her business was ruined and she was finished.
It was Christine's decision, three months after observing the man who was always coming to the restaurant, to observe him on one night when she knew she had to. After watching him for several nights, he finished his job at a prestigious company, came back to his mistress 'house after work every weekend and at the same hour put his car in the garage before coming up with gifts.
Does his mistress know what bastard he is?
The question was on Christine's mind, as she waited to pass, avoiding the surveillance camera, following him. His moment was perfect, as he climbed up a back ladder. A second she pushed the knife to his right side and swirled into the bone as the man's face swelled out of pain. She quickly pulled her knife into her bag as she walked away and calmly returned to the restaurant to return the knife after cleaning it well.
Christine had panic attacks, imagining Jason and Dr. Maureen breaking into her room and arresting her, screaming to wake her up in the arms of Gilbert, who was holding her in her arms as she tried to calm her down until she fell asleep again. Christine spent nights staring at the roof as Gilbert did all the work for both of them. Like her, Gilbert believed in the dream of a big restaurant and a family one day with Christine Stewart, but she proved to him that he was wrong and that she was no different from his mother, who always cried in and was offended by her husband.
Gilbert hated his mother, and when Christine Stewart began to resemble her mother's hatred, so did Mary Montgomery, a brave girl who came from hard work but stood firm and never complained.
It took Christine four months to be sure that no one suspected her before she moved on, and it wasn't without remembering that accursed night. With Peter's body, it was very comfortable and different: she wasn't watching or hearing the voices of these men; she was seeing her restaurant, which is big and famous, and that critic talks about her restaurant, and how he deserves the stars he harvested and inviting people to eat. Christine wakes up next to Peter and feels quite at ease.
When Christine Stewart arrived at her restaurant that day, she was still angry, caught between the memory of Gilbert abandging her and the woman he had fated for her, and Peter, who disappeared yesterday without news. Until she collided with Peter's appearance and wretched state, she almost yelled at how he was standing at her restaurant door like this What would a customer think for his coffee and breakfast, but she soon took him inside the kitchen.
But she soon took him inside the kitchen, and watched him wash his hands and face before he came back to sit down. Christine asks, What happened to you? Did you dream about painting again? No, no, I was stolen. They took my car and some money, he quickly replied. Well, what did I do? Peter shyly said, I resisted a little but I couldn't. Idiot, you could have died, Christine said. Peter said, I know. Then Peter opened his hands with his mother's necklace and said, But I got away with at least that.
