Spy mode
"Are you even listening to me!?" I hear my girl scream at me. I was dazed in front of her, my hand under my chin to support me. I come back from my office, the issue and nuisance both cleared out of my way and I look at my girlfriend in front of me right now.
Why is she twitching her eye at me right now?
"Are you listening!?" She screams again, pulling me out of the trance herself.
"You're so beautiful today, Ravine~" my voice sings.
"What the fuck is wrong with you today!? I asked you about Mr. Brown or Mr. Black whoever that was! What happened to him!?" As she asks in a loud voice, I lose my smile and look at her with a bored expression planted on my face.
"Why'd you have to ruin the mood by asking about him?"
"Aaron. Answer me." She says sternly.
"Tsk. Pooper. Well, he's fine and that's all I know. I put bullets in him and I'm the one paying for his treatment too. How ironic." She sighs at my nonchalant response and serves me the dinner she's 'attempted' to make tonight.
Potato and cream... cheese soup.
But it's tasty with the brothy and umami flavor of the potatoes.
I think she accidentally put a sweet potato too.
Anyways, she asks me another question after u take the first gulp of the soup. It was slightly sweet, but I always appreciated her conscience with saltiness in the food. She's worried that I'll become a patient of high blood pressure soon with the density of work I have to dedicate my time to everyday.
"Well... did you find out who was behind this?"
"I already knew who it was." I respond. She sits down after serving herself a bowl and adds two sandwiches of drippy mozzarella cheese. I must love cheese, because I'm salivating just by watching her bite into the texture and the mozzarella dragging all the way to the distance of her little arm.
She chuckles as I do too, I answer her question in detail.
"Mr. Brown was threatened by Gregory Simpleton. That's the man I hate right there." I pass her the phone with his picture from the paparazzi. He wasn't even worth the hype of the paparazzi. I pity their cameras.
"Ew." Ravine reacts to the male's disfigured body and premature baldness. All hate goes to his personality, and not just his ugly physical appearance.
"I know right. Well, he wants to fuck with our company just because he's got a lot of money. Little does he know, that our turn over is ten times more than his."
"No wonder he wanted to know your company secrets and use them against you. You're like the biggest Rival to him." Ravine says as I agree.
"So what's your plan?"
"I'm thinking maybe I'll hire a yakuza to zap him and bring him to the basement to tor—" I stop my stupid thoughts from flowing out when I sense her death glare.
"Ahem, I mean... I'll create some story and make sure he's stuck in the case of bribery. He even threatened one of my employees to act on his accord."
"That was better." She comments as I give her a half smile.
After inhaling the soup in one go, I clean the dishes roughly, placing them in the dishwasher and jump on the couch to watch some TV before going to bed.
After awhile, Ravine passes by me without even sparing a glance. I expected her to sit on my legs or do something to annoy me as usual, but nothing of that sort happens. What's on her mind?
I can't blame it on her periods either. She isn't this bad down.
"Hey babe—"
"I'm going to the park for awhile. I'll be back." She says, and leaves...
The park was right beside our block of houses. At this time, it's going to close up.
But I'm so curious!
I wanna see what's up with her.
She closes the door as I stay still on the couch. Counting to ten mentally, as slowly as possible to make sure there aren't any chances of her coming back, I tip toe towards the door and wear my sandals before peeking outside.
There was still a bit of night life with slowing down cars entering their garages. I don't know any of my rich neighbors. I believe at least three of them on the same street are millionaires as myself. Except, I'm a billionaire in comparison. I'm not boasting, but only pointing out the difference in figures we make.
"What the..." I see Ravine, I recognise her silhouette below the street lights. She enters the park and someone hooded and meek follows her. They sit on a bench, holding a discussion. I wish I could go closer but it was an open area and they could sense my presence with ease.
What the hell's going on!?
Thousands of thoughts rush to my mind.
Is she betraying me? Who's that other woman? I wanted to know what they're discussion is about. Is it about my company? Did someone really steal her loyalty from me?
No, no. I refuse to think that way. She can't be that foolish to give away her two years worth of love for me. I know she loves me over money, but there will be things that go beyond love and lust.
My heart was beating out of my chest. I didn't know what to perceive.
But... I'll keep my distance.
I'll make sure not to seem suspicious while extracting information from her activities.
It's time for me to go all spy mode on my own girlfriend now.
I can believe I'm doing this...
