As rivals, we meet again
The party was organised at NYC Magic grounds, a little further into a forest but the safest of them all. We selected our suits and were ready to step into Mid-June, half yearly party organised by the Business Summit Committee.
As I watch Ravine clothe herself in a shape wear, I furrow my eyebrows at her choice. Just then, the sound of my phone ringing distracts me from my thoughts. Getting up from my seated composure, I go to the bedside table to collect my phone.
"Hello?" I say in an unsure voice, I don't recognise the number.
"Hello, sir. I am Ms. Carlos speaking for Mr. Javed from India." The woman introduces herself.
"Oh! Mr. Javed's assistant! Tell me, Ms. Carlos." Delighted, I circle my arm around her waist as she was only few centimeters away from me. She curiously turns to me too, listening on the conversation.
"He wants to have a special meeting with you after the party at night. Will you be able to make it, Mr. Skiez?" The assistant asks.
"Sure! Tell him I'm hosting the party and his family is invited."
"Ah, sir. About that. He's already planned the same at the State towers tonight." She says.
"Ah! He's quick, isn't he!? Well, do tell him I'd join in for the delight. Thank you." Saying, I cut the call. Turning towards Ravine, I place the phone on the table and begin dancing with my beloved lady.
"What's happening?" She questions while chuckling.
"Mr. Javed, the businessman from India invited us for a late night dinner at the State towers after our party. I don't know if he's trying to win the title or show off to me." I say, giggling as she spins around my lifted hand.
It was for our little practice for today.
"Neither, haha. He's being a sportive person. If we see it, you two are at tug with each other. Your tables are reserved beside each other too. If he wins, he's going to boast all about it and give you tips at the after party. And if you win," She leans closer to my face. I hold her snatched waist, looking even smaller because of the shaper she is wearing as I lean in an inch too.
"We'll come home and practice making some babies." She says. At once, my eyes widen and my mouth falls ajar. She laughs at my expression as I enthusiastically jump around.
"Are you serious!? Ravine!! You wanna make babies with me!?" I exclaim. She nods her head while blushing as it makes my day.
"Thank you, aww thank you so much!" My happiness knew no bounds. She's never said it openly, nor stated that she wants to make babies with me.
What's left is that we tell our parents about our decision and make them the happiest grandmas on earth. I know for sure, that they will support and encourage every decision of ours without worrying about the consequences. We have our supportive ol' ladies by our side.
"Thank you too, baby boy." She says, parting from the hug.
"After so many things happened between us and around us, I realised you will be the best father to our children, and the best father on earth as well. I don't wanna give up on that chance. Especially not when I'm f-fertile and healthy in my years." She says while blushing again.
"Thank tou, baby girl. I promise I'll be the best father to our babies, because you already have the title of best mom before time." I say, she chuckles and hides her face on my chest.
What a day~
At around 8 pm, the driver takes us to the venue. Clear water and a fountain so big... I almost had the design planned for our next mansion.
Ravine stares at the entrance while i was distracted by the fountain. Suddenly, someone taps on my shoulder as I look back to see Mr. Javed with his arms wide open and laughing charmingly.
"Mr. Javed!" Addressing his name, I enter his hug while I was reminded of my father. My father, Timothy Skiez also gave hugs which showed their heart on their sleeves.
Papa was so selfless and the most energetic man I've ever seen in my life. I hated to admit that we lost him. I hated living in a world without him for such a long time. I was only 19, and I had so many things to learn from him but he was gone in the blink of an eye.
Coming back to the scenario, Ravine hugs his wife, doing the courtesy of two kisses to either sides of the cheeks and then, she interacts well with the teenager children of his.
"You kept so abruptly, my boy. We were looking forward to that baseball match with you!" He exclaims. Ravine and I look at each other. The emergency was of greater value, and hence prioritized but we never gave him an explanation of our emergency flee.
"Ah, that. We can have it again this summer. What do you think, kids?" I ask them, as if I was any older than them.
The party commences as we take our seats.
There were a few programs and a special motivational speech by the ex-super businessman of the decade; Mr. Jack Mriswoldt.
The time was coming closer. I could feel the tension between me and Mr. Javed as we took sips from the complementary champagne. Each time our eyes met, there was a spark of competitiveness burning in our eyes.
The whole world knows what kind of title is that bringing home to a company.
Fame, wealth, reputation, politics... and so many more.
At 21, i realised that if I work now, I can enjoy my thirties with my lovely wife and kids, with Ravine.
I don't have to appear again in the next business Summit, because if I win here, I won't be titled the same title again. And I don't wish to work my butt off again 10 years later when I have a bunch of kids calling me their dad.
I have my goals set into one direction.
If I lose here, I'm never accepting another invitation again.
It would be a dishonor to my reputation, to be called again and again to the same ceremony without having to take home the award I aspire to bring home.
The announcer, a rich man with vocabulary and thought presents the award.
It was time...
"And the Businessman of the Decade award goes to..."
A massive drum roll blasts from the authentic speakers. My heart was mimicking the fast pace of the drum, racing abnormally.
Ravine holds my hand on the table as I open my eyes and realise.
Her sweet smile... is the best award I can have.
All other things were superficial. But not her...
So what if I lose?
