We will catch him
(The following five chapters will be an interesting crime arc! I would love if you all participate in reading with me, please!)
As soon as the police and a few investigate journalists on the scene leave, Ravine breaks down in his arms. She couldn't tolerate the pain of putting people in danger anymore. Especially not after she saw Aaron get hurt because of John.
She walks back inside, smelling ugly from all the sweat and their previous all night activity. Inside, Aaron sat on the couch. She perceived him as an angry ball of fire. She looks at him with guilt building up.
"Aaron I'm—" He scoffs loudly and gets up from the couch, walking away to the kitchen. Defeated by herself and her mistakes, she moans in emotional pain and sits on the place he sat on. She curls herself into a ball, crying in her hands.
Why wouldn't she? She was being blamed for not saying anything about a literal psychopath— not to forget the close connection between the victim and the culprit— she was expected to say at least one word to him.
On top of that, Aaron was at stake of leaving her and keeping himself safe and hidden. Until the man actually, literally perishes, Aaron's life was in danger she thought. Her mind wasn't letting her be at peace.
The sun was rising yet the two were half awake. One was angry on the other while the woman couldn't bring herself to seek forgiveness from him.
"Aaron..." she calls him for the umpteenth time. She was confused because he locked himself in his assigned room and wasn't going anywhere. She was assuming he would leave her, go back to his routine life and never come back to her again. She hoped, that Aaron would be the kind of guy who would leave her during her worst days.
On the contrary was Aaron.
He was upset at her, because after the Hawaii incident, Ravine could have at least give him a heads up about the psychopath running behind her, with an intent to grant her worse causes than death.
He sat alone in the middle of the bed. The sun was illuminating through the curtains. He tried his best to ignore Ravine who sat outside the door and kept knocking on it.
At exactly 5:43 am, he loses his cool and opens the door with a slam. Terrified, Ravine flinches badly and moves away from him until she realizes it was only him. She takes a deep breath in, standing upto her feet weakly.
"What do you want from me now, Ravine?" Her eyes widen. She was right, she assumed. He was going to blame her for the misfortune that dawned upon them. Moreover, she will be left all alone again.
Without her knowing, she was developing a disorder within herself.
"I- I don't— I want forgiveness from you, Aaron. I know you want to leave me and I promise I will make a script for you, don't worry. Just be safe—" She stops talking when Aaron widens his eyes, looking straight into her wide ones which said "I can't fucking believe what you're saying, Ravine!"
He yells at her.
She jumps when he holds her shoulder and shakes her.
"You don't get to push away people from your life, okay!? I don't care about this stupid contract. It never fucking existed!" He says to her, he was gasping for air. She then realises how angry he really was at her. Ravine breaks down badly.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry..." she chants it like a mantra until he hugs her tightly. Aaron brushes her silky hair and rubs her back, giving her assurance.
"Look, Ravine. I'm a guy who loves to fight for justice. As I can see, those damned officers don't give a fuck about you nor do they care about that psychopath. I've heard them say it's your damned fate because you're a fucking pornstar. That doesn't make any sense to me." Says Aaron. Ravine was crumbling from within. The man she trusted turned out to be a snake, that inspector.
"So... what should we even do now? He will keep coming back even if we build the most secured prison in the world."
"Don't worry. He's a lousy psychopath. He will surely have a weak point that we must find. Or on the worst parts, we need to kill him by ourselves." Says Aaron.
She widens her eyes, overwhelmed by the thought of killing someone who surely was troublesome. She felt wrong, morally. How much ever she tried, she couldn't get rid of the damned pest and in the end, it came up to her hands at last.
"Come here." Grabbing his hand, she wipes her tears and turns around to enter her own room. She digs through her belongings and finds a metallic object.
"Next time he comes, I am defending myself and... you should too." She says, passing the metallic object to him. He was shocked that she even had such a thing in her arsenal. Somehow, she couldn't bring herself to use it.
"Let's do this." Says Aaron as Ravine smiles.
Ravine dials up Charlie, Gerroto and her lawyer who all arrive at lunch time.
Charlie, as soon as the door opens, hugs the two of them as tears flowed down his eyes.
"Goddammit! I thought you two were—"
"We're fine. Thanks to Aaron who saved us both. I—" Ravine shakes her head, trying to forget the horrible glimpses flashing from her memories.
"Oh babe, it's fine. At least we got past the security after getting checked thoroughly. It's a real eye sore, but I understand why that need be done." Says Charlie, kissing his best friend on her cheeks while he thanked plenty to Aaron.
If it wasn't for the contract or Aaron being there, Ravine would have surely experienced the worst day of her life.
The lawyer walks in front of Gerroto who quickly comes towards the three.
He realized it was no time to let them know that Charlie and him got closer and confessed slightly.
Yet, the lawyer who was an external source gave them time to settle. He brought a suitcase full of documents as be sat down with them and they began discussing a plan.
A plan to keep Ravine safe and get rid of the psychopath behind her.
