Just cousins
I wake up to the sounds of mental rattling against each other. I wake up Aaron, tapping his chest as he groans.
"Hmm, what? What?" He asks in sleep confusion.
"Your cousins are trying to open the door. Manage." I say simply, keeping my spectacles aside.
"Oi! We're trynna sleep here idiots!" Upon the male screaming, their loud cackling and giggles were spontaneous as it fades away with their heavy footsteps.
"Ugh, I'm tired. Let's go down." I suggest. But he had something else in mind.
"I don't wanna go down already. Let's sleep right here." He says and we enter a small shed like thing on the roof. It had a dusty bed as I made a face at him.
"Just for the shade." He says, placing me down on the blanket he roughly places on the floor.
We fell asleep regardless of the environment. We were damn tired.
We woke up again after a few more hours. I was tapping around for my spectacles when I was actually sprinkling dust all over.
I begin coughing and sneezing, waking up the man who was asleep in peace.
"Sorry, sorry! Go back to sleep." He shakes his head, refusing. He begins to stretch his body out.
"Hmm... The best sleep ever." Saying, he sits up.
"Let's leave it here. Come, I'm hungry." He says as I wipe my hands and my spectacles.
He drags me under the scorching sunlight and we finally go back to our room.
His notorious cousin brothers have already spread the word. We were the hot topic of discussion on the breakfast table.
"You guys slept in the terrace? In that shed? Oh, no what did the poor room do to you? Your cousins made the bed and all yet you two went to sleep on the terrace? Tsk tsk tsk." Aaron's mother scolds us. I made a guilty face while the heavy cheese quesadilla was freshly pressed onto my plate.
I yawn in front of the food, disrespecting it.
"Ay~ Brother she's yawning!" The boys were merciless when it came to teasing new couples. I'm seeing the other couple being teased to death too.
"Aaron and Ravine, sitting on the tree~
K.I.S.S.I.N.G!~" Aaron throws the empty fruit basket at them while the elders start yelling at Aaron and the boys alike. The whole family vibe was warming up my heart.
After the heavy sumptuous breakfast, I was pushed again towards Elizabeth by her mother. I wanted to tell her honestly about her daughter's foul attitude. But I couldn't get my thoughts together because of the fear of seeming too judgemental.
So, I go back to the farm land without any protests. But this time, I ask Aaron to accompany me.
"Where do you want me to go now?" He asks. We were in the middle of the streets while houses were left behind. The luscious green grass on either sides of us calms my mind.
Suddenly, I feel Aaron's arms slithering around my waist. He presses me into his body while walking.
I sigh, holding his forearms.
"Aaron, not in public again please. I'm enough embarrassed."
"They didn't give a complain on us, did they? Besides I always wanted to fuck you in the middle of a corn field." He says boldly. I remember one such setting I created in the tall grass where the male actor was fucking his widow girlfriend out of her mind.
Now when I look back, my scripts have all been upto what my audience wanted me to write. I've never fully written a script wherein there was genuine love, as far as I understand the concept myself.
There was Elizabeth. She was ticked off when our view catches her sight. I was well aware that she would feel this way. But I needed to make sure she wasn't trying anything funny. Besides, it's weird getting into a relationship with your own cousin too. I don't like that kind of thing.
She stomps on the floor, trying to act cute but she only might have hurt her foot doing so.
"Aaron!"
"Yes!" Aaron too stands up straight.
"You said you will marry me!" How dare she say that when I was still standing there? She's a little bitch, and I'm here to take care of it. I've had just about enough now.
"I did?" Perplexed himself, he looks at me to read my reaction. I take a deep breath, coming up with a soul-slaughtering comment for her when Aaron speaks up suddenly.
"Hey, you! I never said that. And by the way is aunt Carol and your brother doing fine after... Theo, Uncle Theo passed away?" His words make me stop my soul-crushing words abruptly.
This girl lost her father...
I feel sorry for her.
"Yeah. We're doing okay."
"Bring it in, lil champ." Saying, Aaron spreads his arms for her to enter his embrace. I did not like it, but I shouldn't be too possessive about him either. They're only cousins, right?
I hate the way this girl looks at me. She wants to enrage me, but I can't be enraged anymore.
I'm mature, I'm a confident woman who trusts my partner. As far it goes, I have no regrets coming here except for this girl.
Well, I have to keep up with Aaron and his cousins, his huge ass family just for four days more.
After that, I'll be home soon.
