It's alright
AUTHOR'S POV
Ravine sat on the stairs, crying her heart as she held her face in her palms. He shouldn't have left the laptop home, he said to himself. He blamed him for the misfortune.
He had no place else to go than to his own beat friend's house. He reaches the place in under fifteen minutes with his stride walking. He knocks on the door, he was received by Jack who welcomes him, but the words don't come out completely.
"Oh, Hi Aaron — Whoa, what happened boy?" He was mixing something in his hand with a whisker when he sees Aaron's tired, gloomy and tear stricken face. "Is Jasmine home?" He asks in his cracking voice.
"Yes, she is in the bedroom. Go." Moving to the side, he allows the boy to run towards Jasmine as he cries loudly. Concerned, Jasmine's heart beat increased.
"Aaron!" She yells at him, thinking he was only pranking her. It's been so long since she heard him cry, but when she saw his tear stricken face and a broken heart up his sleeve, she knew he needed her comfort more than anything.
He jumps on the bed, is pampered by Jasmine and Jack both alike. As he calms down, Jack gives him a glass of water.
"What happened?" Jasmine asks to him, he answers with his shaky voice as he wipes his tears.
"Ravine was exploring my laptop videos today and she accidentally deleted my precious files." Says the man. Jasmine knew partially how precious were his files. As he told her about everything that those files included, Jasmine couldn't help but be angry at Ravine for accidentally deleting them.
"But it's not entirely her fault maybe. You told she accidentally deleted it and she was guilty about it. Maybe she was guilty. I don't know what she is feeling right now." Jack thinks wisely. The two best friends frown at him, but they know he was true. He wasn't entirely siding with Ravine either.
Jasmine scratches his hair as he laid on her thigh, curled up into a ball with his knees together. The sun was setting as he grew concerned about his actions.
He shouldn't have reacted that way, he felt. He introspected within him and knew he was wrong too. He was simply upset at her, he was angry that something so precious was lost, but he wasn't a bit angry on her.
"I should apologize to her. I was too harsh to leave immediately without a word." He says to himself.
"You should. He will cry to you, and maybe you will find a way to retrieve those files. Go to a professional, they will read the hard disk or something for you." Says Jasmine. He didn't even think about that.
He felt more guilty now.
He runs back home after the couple encourage him to apologize heartily to her.
In five minutes and under, Aaron was panting in front of Ravine's house.
He was almost unsure if he should apologize for his actions. She did implore him for forgiveness, yet he ran away like an upset and immature child. However, he really treasured those files. He was confident that they will find a way to retrieve them by hook or crook. It all lies in the hands of a professional.
He knocks on the door, he was to receive a response from her. But a minute or more passes, he doesn't hear a response.
"Ravine...?" His voice was still unsure, yet it called her out with such gentleness.
He finally decides to open the door himself. Suddenly, he felt like a stranger from day 0 entering his own girlfriend's house.
He sees her lying on the sofa with her tear strains stuck to her face. He felt incredibly guilty.
Suddenly, he too starts to tear up with the regret of not listening to her. Nor giving her a chance to speak and explain herself. He falls on her shoulders and cries.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry..." he says to her, his presence stirs her awake.
As soon as she realizes it was him who'd come home after so long, she wakes up to sit upright.
"Aaron, I'm sorry that—"
"Shush..." she silences herself when he shushes her. He slowly laid his head on her lap as he sat on the floor while she sat on the couch with the blanket on her.
She was hesitating, but she rubs his head softly to call him down.
"I'm sorry that it happened."
"I'm angry at myself, Ravine. I'm such a bad man to you. I couldn't even listen to you." As he says, her eyebrows crash together. She forcefully lifts his head to look at her.
"No one out there is eligible to call you a bad man for me. Not even yourself. How dare you? Besides, I talked to an IT professional and he said he'd help me—" Aaron bursts out crying as she says her words.
"Oh, Aaron." She tears up too.
It was the emotions of not being perfect for each other that was eating them away. They did not like how each other them was one step ahead of each other when it came to accomplishing their situational goals. She's already got some technical aid to help him with the misfortune.
And he on the other hand wanted to beat himself up for being irrational and waking out of a situation instead of facing it up and neatly laying the issue down, than splatter it all over the place. He was far inferior than herself, he was imagining.
"I'm sorry, my love. I know how dear those kind of things are. If someone were to delete or get rid of my initial memories of my dream job, I would be way too upset to even look in their direction. I'm sorry, Aaron. I'll set everything alright." She says. The young man wails while closing his eyes. She's never seen him so heartbroken and beaten up emotionally.
"I love you. I love you... I love you..." he keeps saying in his shaky voice. Ravine couldn't help but laugh at him who was bring so cute at the moment, also it was breaking her heart so bad. She wanted to give him the entire universe if it calmed him down.
She could not bare to see him break down like that.
However Aaron on the other hand has vowed for one thing.
He would be mature for her. He wanted to become the best of his version, for her. If she's done an irreplaceable mistake, he would try to understand her perspective and judge with wisdom if she was right or wrong.
He, from today shall quit being a gentleman.
He will, from today, adopt the characteristics of a perfectly-flawed, healthy and judgmental man.
