CARRYING OUT THE PLAN
THE STORY WILL BE WRITTEN FROM THE 3RD PERSON'S POVE FROM HERE
Finally, as the beautiful full moon cast its silvery glow over the city with Gia lying wide awake beside my sister, who was fast asleep, her room was steeped in shadows. An air of anticipation lingered, fueled by the distant sounds of music drifting through her window. It was the night of the much-anticipated music gala, an event she'd longed to attend, intertwined with the allure of the Wild Waters, an enigmatic place rumored to hold mystical allure after dark.
Gia glanced at the clock—midnight, the bewitching hour when adventure beckoned. For safety, she could not have sneaked out any earlier in order to not alert her sister. With a racing heart, she slid out of bed, careful not to disturb her slumbering surroundings. She tiptoed across the room, her movements purposeful yet surreptitious, slipping into an elegant ensemble she'd tucked away, waiting for this clandestine moment. Music always turned her wild, and now the Wild Waters groove was awaking all her wild senses with the slow, high-pitched soothing beats of music.
"I will be back in the morning. Do not worry. I am safe.” xx Sissy.
She inked a short memo for her sister and placed it beside her sister’s pillow. She knew her sister would go berserk on her when they next met because she was against the idea of Gia going out amidst the terror that they were immersed in. But Gia had found a hole that would sneak her out of that terror for some hours, or maybe expose her to what her soul yearned for—to spot her tormentor.
With top-notch carefulness, she tapped her feet on the floor, heading out—slow and soft. No sounds were made. The night embraced her like a secret lover as she stepped outside, the city pulsating with life. The music's faint melodies guided her, luring her toward the heart of the gala—the Wild Waters. If the situation were different, she would have started losing herself to the wildness denoted by that name itself. But she knew she would not have the fun that the place promised. Her mission was different. She moved swiftly, a phantom navigating the shadows, relishing the thrill of her nocturnal escapade.
Whatever Martin had told the securities was a puzzle to her, as they did not stop her. They actually inclined their heads slightly to her, smiles plastered on their bright faces, the words of salutations lingering on their lips, and they directed their silent echoes in her direction. She responded calmly, her faint words finding their ears with ease due to the unruffled surroundings.
Outside the motel, she ran into Martin, who was standing erect, his tall gram leaning slightly on the black porch. “Officer Marting.” She uttered a silent whisper of his name.
“Just Martin, even just for tonight. Remember, we have to be discreet.”The officer responded with a grin, reminding her of the danger they were stepping into.
“Sorry, Martin. The moon is doing enough justice to your features, I must say. You look cute under the moonlight and out of green. Just a harmless opinion.” She teased. The man is really extremely charming without the uniform.
Martin smiled, his smile as beautiful as Gia had imagined. “At least you don’t find me annoying like your sister. I am flattered.” His words were warm and friendly, with a tinge of appreciation.
“Don’t worry about her for now. She is just under too much pressure. We all are. She will warm up later when things brighten up.” Gia said.
“I understand. I hope she does not kill me for this.” He said.
Gia stared at him and spoke with a reassuring smile. “Don’t worry. I got your back. And thank you for doing this."
Martin traded the smile back, his shiny tee reflecting in the light. You are welcome. And since I know your heart is throbbing with every beat of that buzz, why don’t you get changed so that we leave already?”
Gia nodded in consternation. Her hearing was indeed rippling. The beats were calling her nonstop, and every unanswered call left her with discernment. “Did you get what I asked for?”
Martin opened the back door of the Porsche, and two wrapped-up golden boxes greeted her eyes. “See whether I suck in taste.”
Gia smiled and got inside the car to change. After sliding on the new dress and shoes, she stepped out with the floral glittering blue dress and red heels hidden beneath the dree. Even the moon dimmed for a minute to appreciate her beauty, while the stars shone brighter to blend with her blinding beauty. “Mmmh, I don’t suck after all. Lucky will be the man who will have a dance with you tonight.” Martin complimented, his eyes blinking as they sampled the spell-binding beauty before him. Not in a manner less way, just the way any man would appreciate a beautiful woman before him.
“I did not expect that you would do this incredible, but I knew you were not that bad either. You nailed it. Thank you. And about the dance, I don’t think I would be that stupid to dance with anyone tonight. Everyone is a suspect tonight.” Gia said. Her invitation to the gala was just suspicious on its own. If there was one thing she was carrying to the gala that night, it was curiosity—to know if there was a motive behind her invitation—and caution.
“I get it. We will all be close. Don’t be afraid. I have already sent some officers over there. Others are at different allocated points, and others are coming with us. No one will notice them because we are in uniform. Our signature sign tonight will be a thumbs-up. If you see someone give you a thumbs up, just know that he is on our team.” Martin explained as he opened the front door for Gia.
“Got it.” Gia responded as Martin settled behind the wheel, and off they hit the road to their about five-minute drive to the Wild Waters Lodge.
