EXPLOITING THE ENEMIES' WEAKNESS
As Martin exited the office, a sense of disquiet lingered within him. The general's warning had struck a nerve, raising questions about the path he had chosen. The veil of loyalty he had worn so skillfully was beginning to fray, and the warning echoed ominously in his thoughts.
Martin carefully dialed Gia's number, his mind racing with the recent developments after the conversation with the general. After a few rings, Gia answered the call.
"Hey, Gia, it's Martin," he greeted, his tone low and cautious.
"Martin, what's up? Is everything all good? How are you and everything from your end?" Gia's voice held a mix of curiosity and concern.
"I need to talk to you in person," Martin stated cryptically. "It's about the recent developments."
A note of concern crept into Gia's voice. "Is everything alright?"
"It's complicated," Martin replied, choosing his words carefully. "But I think it's crucial we meet. Somewhere discreet."
There was a pause on the other end of the line before Gia responded, "Okay, I understand. Where and when?"
Martin thought for a moment. "How about the old abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of town? Tomorrow evening, around 7 PM?"
Gia hesitated for a moment before agreeing. "I'll be there."
7 p.m
Martin and Gia sat in a secluded corner of a quiet café, their conversation cloaked in discretion.
Gia sipped her tea, her eyes fixed on Martin with a mix of curiosity and concern. "How's everything been going lately, Martin?" she asked, her voice laced with an undercurrent of worry.
Martin sighed softly, a faint crease of concern marring his brow. "Things are getting complicated," he admitted, his tone measured yet tinged with unease. "The general's starting to feel uneasy about my position within Ejay's circle."
Gia's eyebrows furrowed in concern. "Uneasy? Why would he feel that way?"
Martin recounted the recent encounters, carefully choosing his words. "He's becoming suspicious, hinting that he's aware of a certain ambition brewing within me," he explained, his voice tinged with caution. "He warned me against harboring thoughts of advancing within their ranks."
Gia's expression mirrored her concern. "That's risky, Martin," she remarked, a note of worry coloring her words. "His suspicion might endanger your cover."
"I know," Martin acknowledged, a sense of urgency in his tone. "But his unease might offer us a unique opportunity to exploit their vulnerabilities and gain deeper insights into their operations."
The cold, desolate warehouse exuded an air of secrecy as Martin and Gia stood within its confines, the faint glow of a single dim light illuminating their faces. Gia observed Martin, a sense of urgency evident in her eyes.
"Martin, what did you need to discuss?" Gia inquired, her voice echoing softly in the eerie silence of the abandoned space.
Martin shifted uneasily, the weight of recent events heavy on his shoulders. "The general's suspicions about me... can you imagine the general is getting jealous of me? He says that I am too ambitious. The dog thinks I might be trying to surpass him. It is complicated and intense. He confronted me about it today," he began, concern etched in his expression.
“What? Wait, that means that you are doing good by fooling them. You are doing your work well, and he is feeling threatened. He knows Ejay likes competent people.” Gia said.
Martin nodded. "You may be right. This might be an opportunity for us too. We can use this to our advantage."
Gia raised an eyebrow, intrigued by Martin's statement. "An opportunity for us? How so?"
Martin recounted his encounter with the general, detailing the growing insecurity within Ejay's inner circle. "The general's unease might work to our advantage," he explained, his voice tinged with a sense of cautious optimism. "If we can exploit that and create conflict between him and Ejay, it could unravel their operations. Can you imagine those two men crashing?"
Gia's eyes widened with realization. A ripple of curiosity about how bloody that crash could be rippled within her.
“I cannot begin to imagine. But still, it is too risky. The general will not take it lightly that you brought discord between him and his long-lasting ally.” Gia said.
Martin nodded. "Yeah, you have a point. Then let us settle on creating discord between them; it could disrupt their network.”
She mused, the wheels turning in her mind. "Yes. But how do we go about it?"
Martin pondered for a moment. "We need to plant seeds of doubt," he suggested, his voice brimming with a hint of strategy. "Induce suspicion; make each of them question the other's motives."
Gia nodded in agreement, a sense of determination lighting up her features. "If we can fracture their trust, it might reveal their vulnerabilities," she added, sharing Martin's resolve.
Martin nodded in agreement. “Exactly. Then they can kill each other if they want. What matters is that we destroy them. It doesn’t matter how.”
“That will even be better. At least I will not have to stain my hands again.” Gia said.
“Yeah. But his resurrection cleaned his blood from your hands. You practically did not kill him. You are clean now, Gia.” Martin said.
Gia smiled. “Sure, but I wouldn’t choose to remain with my hands stained than to go through this again. It is so exhausting, Martin.”
“We are closing this chapter soon. In a short while.” Martin assured her.
“Alright. I trust you. This is still so risky. Will you still be on the safe side?” She asked, taking the conversation back to the root.
"As risky as it is," Martin acknowledged, a sense of determination in his voice, "we have to be meticulous. Any misstep could jeopardize everything."
Gia nodded, her gaze fixed on Martin with a newfound sense of determination. "We have to tread carefully," she agreed, her voice resolute. "But this might be the breakthrough we've been waiting for."
Martin nodded in agreement, his determination unwavering. "I'll proceed with caution," he assured, the weight of his covert role evident in his demeanor. "This might be a chance to gather valuable intel."
