I hate you
When they got to Mandy’s home, Thandi took some painkillers and went to sleep in Mandy bedroom.
S’bu called Zake again to update him of what has happened since they spoke that morning. S’bu’s worry now was that even though Sivu was arrested the other eight young man were not and could still hurt Thandi. Zake managed to get emergency restraining orders for the eight and were delivered to each one of them by the police. The young man were very shaken for receiving a formal document from the police. They did not intend on doing anything illegal or hurt Thandi in anyway. When they heard what Sivu did they were shocked, they joined the group to irritate S’bu not destroy their lives. If they got arrested and had a criminal record it will be very hard for them to get employment in the future.
Thandi was woken up by Mandy an hour later telling her that aunt Noli, Mr and Mrs J had arrived and wanted to speak to her in the lounge. When Thandi got downstairs Noli ran to hug her followed by Mrs J. S’bu and Mandy had already told them everything that had happened.
“How are you feeling child?” Mr J asked her softly. Normally he would let S’bu sort all this to assess his son’s capabilities but this time someone else’s child was almost hurt because of him.
“I’m fine, thank you” Thandi responded politely. She had spent a lot of time at Mandy’s parents but was still not used to talking to Mr J. He was a tall, dark, handsome man with an aura. He hardly spoke and very few people got to talk to him.
“S’bu is there anything you would like to say?” Mr J asked looking at his son.
S’bu looked at Nozie then Thandi “I’m sorry for the trouble I’ve caused. Yes I love you, I really do. It was not my intention to tell the whole world and make you a target. I know it does not change anything but the other man who were harassing you have all been served with restraining orders. They will be arrested if they come near you. I have arranged for the bodyguard to drive you to and from school everyday. This is the replacement for the uniform that was torn” S’bu said handing a gift bag to Thandi.
Everyone in the room was amazed that he had done so much in just an hour.
Thandi kept quiet until Noli responded saying “Thank you Mandy for making the call right away. If you had delayed, Thandi would have been hurt badly. We all make mistakes S’bu, the important part is taking responsibility and correcting your mistakes. I believe you did that by saving Thandi today and making arrangements to protect her”.
Mr J has dealt with a lot of people and knew that most people would use any opportunity to get money from him. This time S’bu had messed up badly that he was willing to compensate Thandi with anything she wanted. He was waiting for Thandi and her aunt to make their demands but they were just relieved that Thandi was not hurt and went home without asking for anything. He was even more amazed when he realised that S’bu had handed five sets of school uniform to Thandi but she only took out one set and gave the rest back.
Mr J and S’bu were in the study talking about happened to Thandi. Mr J had planned to reprimand his son but S’bu had managed the situation so well that he did not even loose money when he thought he was sure that he would.
“Do you really love her or is it lust?” Mr J asked looking closely at his son. S’bu had attracted and hooked up with a lot of girls since he was a teenager but those girls were very different from Thandi.
“I love her, dad but I’m afraid she must hate me by now” S’bu answered his dad sincerely.
“Well Son, you gonna have to work harder to make sure she stops hating you. Good luck, she does not look the easy type”Mr J said putting his hand on S’bu’s shoulder.
Thandi had no appetite so she got to her aunt’s home she went straight to bed and was woken up by S’bu’s call.
S’bu expected that Thandi must hate him but hearing her say it still hurt him. He decided to write her a message.
I love you and will always do. I believe that we were meant to be. I know you hate me but I hope one day you will forgive me. I’m prepared to spend the rest of my life convincing you of my love. Rest now, sleep tight my love.
Thandi read the message and threw her phone on the floor. S’bu had a nerve to call her ‘his love’, why can’t he just leave her alone?
The following day the bodyguard was outside Thandi’s home waiting to take her to school.
“Good morning Miss Dlamini, I’m Gama your bodyguard. You can call me G” he said respectfully. G was a highly skilled bodyguard who had been with JJL for almost ten years. He took his job seriously and had never failed.
“Good morning Mr G, please call me Thandi” she said politely.
G bowed his head slightly and opened the car door for Thandi to get in and driver her to school.
“I will be parked outside until you come out, take this and press the red button when you are in trouble and I will be there” he said handing Thandi the remote.
“School ended at 3 in the afternoon, are you going to stay here the whole day?” Thandi asked puzzled.
“Yes ma’am it’s my job, I get paid for it” G responded as if he had done this a lot of times before. To be honest this was easier than some of the jobs he had taken and he was glad to make easy money.
Thandi nodded and went into her school. When she came out G was waiting for her as promised.
That evening before he fell asleep she received a message from S’bu again.
Hey beautiful, I thought I should let you know that I have gone back to the university. You must have met G, he is the best bodyguard in JJL, I have no doubt that he will keep you safe. Sivu is still in jail waiting for his trial. I will make sure the other idiots apologise to you soon. Sweet dreams, my love.
Thandi read the message and threw her phone away again. S’bu’s persistence was annoying.
