Betrayal

It’s was the day for the matriculation results to come out. Thandi and Mandy did so well they were featured on the newspapers and magazines for outstanding achievement. Thandi was awarded with a JJL scholarship for overall achievement in the province. Mr Q was once again awarded the best mathematics teacher in the whole country. Thandi and Mandi were both accepted to do quantum physics by four universities. While other pupils worried about being accepted into universities, their challenges was which one they should choose. Mandy chose the university in Pretoria and wanted Thandi to come with her. S’bu wanted her to choose his university in Johannesburg and she torn between her best friend and her boyfriend. She decided to take her time since she had the whole month before she needed to accept or decline the university offers.

S’bu posted a photo of Thandi and Mandy with a caption “my sister and my woman, beauties with brains”. His post attracted a lot of attention. One user commented by saying “The two of them make 4Sx2= Amazing product”.

It was a reference to S’bu‘s old post of Thandi when one user called her 4S for Simple, Smart, Sexy and Serene.

When Thandi got back to her village, everyone was so happy for her and wished her well.

The following week the big entertainment company was bringing movies to the park again like they did every December. The park movies were very popular with the youth. You could bring a blanket and have a picnic with your friends while watching or stay in the comfort of your car. Thandi and S’bu booked a ticket to watch one of the movies there. When the day finally came, they got to the park early in order to buy popcorn and choose the best spot. The first 30 minutes was adverts and clips of upcoming movies. Everyone settled down when the movie was about to start. The movie started.

“What the hell?” someone shouted.

Thandi’s hand shook, dropping popcorn on the floor.

“Thandi” S’bu said panicking getting closer to her.

“Please don’t” she said shaking her head looking at the screen. She looked up fighting her tears from dropping. She could not believe her eyes. On the screen S’bu was having a heated making out with Pretty. They were changing positions now and then moaning and making all kinds of sexual pleasure sounds. Pretty could be heard begging him to go faster and S’bu taking up the challenge until they both collapsed in bed exhausted. The video stopped playing with the audience dead quiet.

“Thandi, let me explain” S’bu pleaded.

“Go ahead” she snapped.

“It was a mistake” he said with a low voice.

“So it really happened? You slept with my friend?” her heart sank, she had hoped for another explanation.

“It was a mistake” he repeated.

“A mistake is when you bump to someone not removing her clothes and making out!” she said shouting at him.

“I turned her down so many times, I really did but she kept coming. It was a moment of weakness, it will never happen again” S’bu pleaded.

“It’s over between us, I don’t ever want to see you again” Thandi said with her voice shaking.

“Thandi, I know I messed but please don’t leave me” he pleaded.

Thandi was not a talkative person by nature, she stood up, walked away from him and went home. She told Mandy all about her heart ache and cried herself to sleep that night. She woke up with red eyes, hoarse voice and throbbing headache. She didn’t feel like getting out of bed at all. She was not allowed to have a boyfriend yet so she could not tell her mother about her broken heart. Her worried mother thought she was coming down with flu and brought her soup and herbal remedies.

S’bu realised that Thandi blocked his number when he could not get hold of her and his messages were not going through. The video of him and Pretty was also trending on social media. His followers had so many questions, he had posted so much about Thandi recently but now there was video of him with someone else. He did not know that Pretty had recorded them until few days ago when she blackmailed him. He thought he could handle her and did not expect that she would be so vicious and share that video at the park when he was with Thandi. S’bu was so angry and swore to have his revenge. If Pretty wanted war, he will give it to her 200 fold. He logged on to his account and wrote his response.

“I know you that you have seen the video that’s circulating and have lots of questions. I also know that those that are close to me are very disappointed by what I have done and you have every right to be. I hooked up with Pretty two years ago when we were both drunk. The following day she had told the whole world how much in-love we were and even had the guts to tell my sister and Thandi whom I was pursuing at the time that she was the future Mrs Jobe. I did not even know her surname at the time. S’bu gave details of everything Pretty has done to get him to bed again and posted her messages and naked photos she sent him. He also added that the video was used to blackmail him to give her money. He ended his post by saying I guess in the end I was not strong enough to resist Jezebel and now I have lost the love of my life”.

The first to comment were Duma, Omesh and Clarence adding stories of how Pretty flirted with S’bu during their Johannesburg tour. More and more witnesses came out telling how Pretty would show up everywhere S’bu went. By end of the day Pretty’s inbox was full of messages telling her how shameless she was. Some were telling her to join prostitutes if she wanted money for sex and stop blackmailing unsuspecting man.

Pretty looked at her messages and could not believe that S’bu would be so ruthless. Her naked photos were all over the social media and people she’s never met were calling her Jezebel and gold digger. Initially all she wanted was to be S’bu other girlfriend. She just wanted him to love her and post her like he did Thandi. She promised that she was never going to cause trouble for him but S’bu was rude, saying sleeping with her was a mistake and he was never going to lover her. In anger she had bribed the technical guy at the park movies to play the video of them, thinking S’bu would reconsider but instead he told the whole world that she was a Jezebel. She stayed at her home the rest of December without going anywhere fearing meeting people who saw her naked photos.

Weeks had passed since the video was released, Thandi was still not talking to S’bu. She was sore every time she thought about what happened between them and the plans they had got the future. She made her decision to forget about S’bu and to stay far away from him as possible. She ended up choosing Pretoria and Mandy was over the moon when she found out.

Schools and universities were opening soon. Thandi and Mandy refused for S’bu to take them to Pretoria and took a bus together. Cindy was accepted to do civil engineering in Durban, S’the joined the South African navy and Pretty went to Cape Town to get away from everyone who knew her or had her naked photos.
