Thandi’s authority

Today was the first day S’bu had not gone to the office since he took over JJL two months ago. He spent the whole day with Thandi. They watched a movie and had a picnic at the park. S’bu felt refreshed being outside, he had hardly seen sunlight these days. Always getting to the office early and staying until very late.

“I know you don’t get enough rest, do you even eat on time?” Thandi asked concerned.

“This is all temporary, once I have proper plans for the company I will be fine” he said not answering her question.

“When do you think you will have the proper plans?” she asked.

“Two months” he said.

“Okay” Thandi said already making her own plans.

“Marry me” S’bu said looking at her lovingly.

“You hardly have time and I’m not done with my studies. Once I’m done, I need to do something’s at home. Only then can we get married” she said.

“Your studies will be done in a year, how long will you need after that to sort the stuff at your home?”he asked. It’s been two months since he married her without her knowledge and he had promised his father to do things properly and make everything official. A year was already too long, now Thandi wanted more time after that. He needed to do something to change her mind.

“How about you finish your studies, then we get married and I promise to let you do whatever you need to do at your home. I will even help you” he suggested.

“Patience is a virtue, she said laughing. People are already calling me a gold digger, there’s no way I’m using your money on anything that’s related to my home” she said.

S’bu decided to let it go for now, he had the whole year to work on something to convince her. Thandi went back to the university and S’bu was back to his tight schedule. He got to the office before anyone else and ready to start where he ended but G came to see him. G was JJL most trusted personnel, initially employed as a bodyguard but his capabilities and skills have seen him doing much more than what he was originally employed to do.

“What’s the matter G?” S’bu asked.

“Your breakfast Sir?” G answered handing nicely packaged food to him.

“Thanks G” he said already eating. He had skipped breakfast again that day.

“Anything else?” S’bu asked noticing that G was still standing there.

“No Sir” G said but showing no signs of moving.

“Whatever it is, just say it” S’bu commanded.

“There’s nothing Sir, I’m waiting for you to finish your breakfast” G said.

S’bu smiled, Mrs J must have noticed that he did not have breakfast and sent G to bring it. He finished his breakfast and thanked G again. At 12 o’clock, G showed up with his lunch and refused to go until he had eaten all his food.

“Stop playing games, I have a meeting in 30 minutes” he told him.

“Your meeting has moved” G told him dropping his head anticipating trouble.

“I scheduled that meeting myself, what do you mean it has moved?” S’bu asked giving G a cold stare.

“All your meetings that were around meal times have been moved”G said.

“Moved, you say?” S’bu asked. “Charlie, get in here” he shouted for his personal assistant. Charlie was the only other person who had his meeting schedules.

“Yes Sir” Charlie said.

“Who moved my meetings?” S’bu asked.

“I did Sir” Charlie responded his voice starting to shake.

“On who’s authority?” S’bu shouted.

“Miss Thandi, Sir” Charlie said.

“What?” S’bu asked puzzled.

“There will be no meetings during meal times, G will bring your food on those hours and make sure you eat it” Charlie related the instructions given to him.

“And you listen to Thandi?” S’bu asked curious.

“She said if you get sick because of starvation she will make me personally responsible and when I met Mr J yesterday he said she’s like your wife so I better listen to her” Charlie said almost breathless.

“You also got the same instruction huh?” S’bu asked G.

“Yes Sir” G confirmed.

S’bu laughed and released Charlie to continue with his duties.

“Where are you getting the food from?” he asked G curious.

“I have a schedule to pick it up from different restaurants”G told him.

“Let me see that”S’bu commanded.

G handed over the schedule to S’bu. S’bu looked at it with disbelief. Thandi must have searched for his favourite meals from all restaurants and preordered for different days and times. It must have taken a lot of her time, he thought feeling warm inside. He finished his lunch to release G and made a call to Thandi.

“S’busiso” she answered lovingly.

“I enjoyed my breakfast and lunch, thank you”he said lovingly.

“You not upset about your meetings?” she asked.

“How can I be upset with my wife when she’s taking care of my needs?” he teased.

Thandi laughed, she didn’t expect S’bu to accept her arrangements so easy.

“I miss you” he confessed.

“Miss you too” she responded feeling warm inside.

S’bu continued with doing extensive research and consultation about JJL and G continued bringing his food. After two months he was happy with his plans for JJL. He set a date to meet with the board members. His father started JJL from scratch and had everyone’s respect but he inherited the company and knew that he needed to prove himself to everyone and earn their respect.
