Over my dead body!
Thandi woke up exhausted. She has not been sleeping well for months now. She went over the past four months in her head over and over again. S’bu believed that she cheated on him with Menzi. He has disowned her and Sipho and has moved on with Jane. She had to accept that her marriage was over.
Recently everything they owned was on the media. People were discussing how she was shamelessly staying in S’bu’s mansion and driving his cars even after he left her. She was called a whore and a gold digger among a lot other names. Having made her decision, she woke up and went to speak to Amahle.
“If you divorce him, will the court grant you my custody?”Amahle asked worried.
“I don’t know sweetie but you are the only thing I will fight for”Thandi assured her and kissed her forehead.
Thandi filled in the divorce papers and decided to personally deliver them to S’bu. They had spent many years in love, she thought she at least owed it to their marriage to end things in person. She walked into JC and was surprised that her access card was not deactivated even though she resigned months ago. She walked pass a lot of JC employees who sneered at her. When she arrived at the CEO’s floor, both S’bu’s PA’s tried to block her way to his office until she made a lot of noise attracting a lot of attention.
“Let her in”S’bu shouted from his office.
“What do you want?”he asked coldly the moment she walked in.
“It’s clear that our marriage is over, these are the divorce papers. I will leave with Amahle and Sipho, you can have everything else”she said handing him the papers.
S’bu took the divorce papers, tore them into pieces without even looking at them and tossed them into the trash. “You can go now, we will divorce when I say so”he said coldly.
Thandi did not believe her ears. Was is not easy for both of them if they just ended things? Why was S’bu being so difficult about it then? “You give me no choice but to go to court” she said defiantly with her chin up.
He stood up and walked to the side of the desk towards her.
Thandi instinctively walked backwards away from him. He kept coming until her back was against the door, she was trapped between him and the door. She swallowed hard , her heart racing and her breathing becoming faster. She was wandering if he was going to strangle her. She had never been frightened of S’bu her entire life until this moment. He lifted his hand and Thandi closed her eyes shut anticipating his strike but none came. Instead of striking her, S’bu was holding her face with both his hands and kissing her. She froze, confused and only realised what was happening when her shirt was on the floor and S’bu was unzipping her skirt.
“What do you think you are doing?” she asked pushing him away with all her strength.
S’bu was caught off guard and stumbled backwards holding to the desk, giving Thandi the opportunity to zip up her skirt and put on her shirt.
“Go to court and you will feel my wrath” he warned her, still holding to the desk.
She opened the door and ran out as fast as she could. She buttoned up her shirt on the way and did not notice the two PA’s who were ears dropping by the door. S’bu picked up the vase that was on his desk and smashed it against the wall. Thandi betrayed him, then why was she still having so much effect on him? He had wondered how he would feel seeing her again. He thought she came to apologise and beg him to come home but to his surprise she had come to hand him divorce papers. Seeing her again raised deep feelings he thought were long gone. Seeing her being so frightened by him broke his heart and he just wanted to hold her tight in his arms but he ended up kissing her instead. Once he started kissing her, he could not stop and lost his control like he has always done with her. Divorce would be easier for both of them. The process would even be finalised very fast since Thandi only wanted custody of Amahle. He had no doubt that the court would actually rule in Thandi’s favour since she has literally raised Amahle like her own since their marriage and Amahle would no doubt chose Thandi if she was ever asked. He had thought a lot about divorcing Thandi recently but something still troubled him. He knew first hand how smart Thandi was. She planned everything she did to the last detail and would look at every angle. That is what made her such a successful researcher. For her to be caught on camera a multiple times having an affair, she would have to be very reckless and Thandi was never reckless. Unless she was so in love with Menzi that she did not care about anyone finding out. He decided not to make any decisions until he found the anonymous person that sent him the video.
Thandi was so angry when she arrived home. S’bu wanted to keep her as his wife while he was busy starting a family with Jane. He knew very well that she hated polygamy, now he was trying to force her into one. “Over my dead body!” she exclaimed, looking through divorce lawyers on the net. She finally decided to go with Linda Bell, a divorce lawyer that had a lot of good reviews from mostly women clients. Linda was not surprised when she received a call from Thandi. S’bu and Thandi were well known high profile couple. The two have been trending on the social media with rumours about Thandi’s affair and questions about their son’s paternity. She was however surprised when she heard that Thandi only wanted full custody of her son and shared custody of her stepdaughter,Amahle. She wanted no share on anything else, even the properties and cars they bought after their wedding. Divorce between high profile couples usually took a long time to be finalised because both parties usually fought for wealth. Linda went to court to apply for the divorce hearing date confident that everything will be finalised soon however, she was shocked when the judge gave her a date in ten years time and refused to engage with her any further. Her whole career, she had never heard of a court date that’s set for that long in the future. She was walking out of the court defeated when she received a warning from her firm threatening to terminate her contract if she does not drop Thandi as her client. She was known for taking challenging cases but she was smart enough to see a career suicide and that’s what was going to happen if she represented Thandi.
