Chapter 114
Chapter 114
When he had me in his clutches, he seemed so certain of everything and so strong as he gazed at me.
"Does it look pretty?" The abrupt inquiry caused him to wrinkle his brows. "The mark you gave to me, does it look pretty?" He reached for it again, as if he were insatiably drawn to it.
The flood of pleasure surged through me again as I grasped his wrist.
His emerald eyes glowed brightly as he held onto my longing for him through our mate bond.
"The prettiest of them all." He pulled me to my feet by gently tugging on my hand and leading me to a little mirror that was hanging on the wall.
I stared at my reflection as I leaned my back on him.
Derrick collected my knotted hair and pushed it away from the side of my neck, without caring that I didn't look decent.
The mark he left on me was really noticeable.
A crescent moon atop a crown.
As I took a closer look, his hands circled my waist, and I ran my fingers over their silky outlines. I let out a moan as the urge and desperation surged through me once more. You would think that after everything that had happened, I would try to calm down before approaching him and bending over his desk, but there was still so much at risk that there wasn't time for me to want him.
I saw him looking at me in the mirror.
"How long was I asleep?" I asked him, feeling a wave of panic rising in my chest.
"Not too long." With his fingertips making circles across my sides, he whispered. "Around six hours, so you still need some more rest." He claimed that nothing around us felt explosively close to detonating.
"We must put an end to my mother. She'll do all in her power to harm you, and with his own words, he turned me into his arms and silenced me.
"I've got this pack house encircled, and we'll know when something goes wrong. Give me a moment to tend to you and stop worrying. Please allow me to look after you." He nearly begged, but we didn't have time for the luxury he was asking for.
"I need to know your plan first." He scowled.
"I have it under control." Though he spoke in a blunt manner, I was already shaking my head.
"You're not understanding that I'm the only one with a chance to defeat her. You witnessed her abuse of your parents.
"I saw what she did to you as well!" His grip tightened around me. "There isn't anything I can do for my parents anymore, but you—I am not going to put you in harms way."
His words had a strong mate tie, but he was being foolish in his desire to protect me since doing so would mean losing everything else.
He had witnessed my magic and my abilities, as well as his father's impotence in the face of my mother's threat. I was the only thing that could impede her progress, and I was holding onto something valuable that I did not wish to lose.
"She is my mother, so I am responsible for her; I don't need your consent to terminate her. I refuse to watch helplessly while the same catastrophe that befell your parents befalls you." His eyes darkened as he opened his mouth to say more, but I spoke before him, and he let out a grunt of frustration.
"I made a promise to your mother that day, and if I have to use my powers against you to keep that promise, I will!" Knowing that the memories would trigger something, I spoke obstinately.
With his arms ensnaring me, Derrick shoved me against the wall, his nostrils flaring.
His lips found mine as he scowled down at me.
His lips melted into mine as he passionately kissed me, as if I were the only thing sustaining his existence. His lips were burning against mine, burning with the desire to accomplish so much more. I drew him towards me, wrapping my arms around his back and pleading with him to never let go, feeling his desire for me unravel my own.
His hands gilded against my torso until his fingers clutched at the area beneath my breasts, exactly as intended. He squeezed his body against mine.
I gasped against the way he was devouring me, his tongue demanding admission and not even trying to resist, and I felt hot to the core.
For a little while, he withdrew, his eyes black with want for me.
"Fuck, you should be punishing me, but this feels like a reward." I stared at him, dumbfounded, as he mumbled.
I gently murmured, taking him by the back of the head and guiding him to the bend of my neck. "If I punished you, then I'd only be punishing myself."
I felt my legs almost give out as his lips met his target.
As he sucked at my tender flesh, I pulled at his hair, but before anything else could happen, the door on the other side of the room opened, letting his delta come in.
"I'm interrupting, but I don't care; I found something that can help." Derrick growled threateningly, but Gabriel was unconcerned with manners.
"I'm happy that you are doing well Luna, but you need to see this." Despite Derrick's possessive environment, he continued with his stiff posture.
I ran my hands up and down his chest, trying to alleviate the disruption, and he dropped the book he was carrying on the table to the side of us.
Gabriel appeared to be the only wolf, aside from Vera, that had sided with me when I last saw him. The smart delta saw the world objectively and strategically, and since I had freed his mate from the spell my mother had set upon her, the delta owed me a favor that went above and beyond his call of duty.
Once more, Derrick pressed his lips to my mark and sank his head into the crook of my neck.
I made a mewling noise that was embarrassing to hear myself, but even more so now that we were in front of others.
I started to distance myself from him, even though I wanted him to kiss me once more.
"What did you find?" Against the strong grip of my partner, I moved towards Gabriel.
Gabriel began speaking without even looking at his alpha.
"This is an old text; it speaks of wolves with witch blood and how they come into their power twice in their lifetime." As I got closer to the book, my eyes got bigger. The pages were bound in leather and had a yellowish hue.
This explained the remaining books and papers that were scattered around.
"Twice?" My heart had trouble beating at a constant rhythm.
When I was younger, my mother had only lied to me about my magic, and when I needed to escape her, my magic had to be taken away. My powers had first appeared as a survival strategy.
"Your magic comes once you come of age, which is explained in annoyingly ambiguous terms, and then the second time you come into your power is when you find your mate." After raising his eyes to his leader, Gabriel shifted his attention to me.
"You have to mark him for your true power to take effect."
