Chapter 5
Chapter 5
"Is there anything else you'd like?" The waitress grinned at us both, entirely unaware of what was transpiring. She stared at the man in front of me, despite my headshake. He wouldn't even give her the time of day, which was unfortunate for her given the mate mark that was clearly visible on his neck.
He made his intentions obvious as the waitress left his line of sight.
"Liar." Through his teeth, he ground.
As he continued to snarl menacingly, annoyance abruptly took the place of my terror. He didn't know anything about me, but it seems like he had already decided on my personality. Before I was compelled to meet his Alpha, I needed a way out. All I needed was a brief window of time to call Alpha Knight and allow him to correct whatever error he had made.
He could certainly hear my heartbeat while I considered my next move, just as I was sure I could hear his own steady beat.
"How about I come willingly after you let me eat this plate of pancakes?" At his snarl, I furrowed my brow. "Willingly means we won't have to fight, and you won't have to clean up the mess I leave behind." I turned to face the people seated at the other end of the room before turning to face the waitress working behind the counter.
He didn't respond because he believed I was a rogue, and every wolf was aware of the havoc rogues could cause.
Maybe I could utilize the fact that he believed I was a renegade to my advantage.
When I was certain he wouldn't try anything foolish, I pushed the pancake dish closer to me and grabbed the knife and fork from the center of the table.
I was sure he hadn't smelled my omega scent either, but it didn't matter because defying him as a rogue meant I would suffer a much worse fate. I was aware from previous experience that titled wolves didn't appreciate having their authority questioned.
It was unsettling for him to see me eat, but it gave me more time to figure out how to get myself out of this jam. Unfortunately, the solution I came up with was too ridiculous for me to even comprehend. I didn't even consider it in my brain before I took action.
I abruptly thrust my fork into his hand and sprinted away, but he didn't flinch. I leaped out of my chair as I saw him struggle in shock at what I had done. I didn't have much time to evaluate the harm I had done to him, though, as I hurried past the waitress and around the counter to the back door.
"My friend is really into you; also, he'll take my bill." As I sped through the kitchen to leave the diner, my hasty statements startled her.
I hurried away, frantically searching my luggage. Vera needed to be safe, and I wanted my phone because if this individual had reached me, they might have also reached her. I turned around, attempting to find a route out of the back alleyways I had found myself in, but I was a muddle of dumb decisions and a lack of direction.
I should have entered via the main door, where others would have seen the man following me, but it was already too late.
My attempt to get away from him failed since he was faster and bigger than I was.
As I glanced at my hands with a racing heart, it would have been helpful if my body had complied. I would only require a small amount of power.
Before I could summon the little amount of energy that had made itself known to me this morning, he grabbed my arm, and I crashed into his strong body. All I could feel after being knocked out cold was the panic rising in my chest.
"You're not very clever for a damn rogue." He grinned. His entire body tightened with wrath and contempt.
"And for a wolf, your hearing is pretty shit; I've already told you that I'm not a f*cking rogue." He bent my arm into an awkward position, causing my bones to jostle against one another. With only a tiny tug, he could snap it in half, but I was able to grit my teeth.
The tears were stinging my cheeks, and the pain was resonating throughout my body.
When you encounter the Alpha King, the truth will become apparent. You obviously made the wrong trespassing choice, girl. I fought against his hold while oblivious to the significance of his remarks. When I felt my bone fracture, I let out a scream.
Before he rendered me unconscious, he wanted me to submit to him.
No matter how many bones he had to break until I arrived at his alpha, he was going to take me there.
I felt him lean over me, and I didn't jerk my head until he was just where I wanted him to be. My head was hammering as I slammed it against his, and my ears were ringing from the power of it. As he fell backwards, I struggled to get up off the ground due to my blurry eyesight, but before I could reach the end of the alley, he was there in front of me again, this time angrier than the two times before.
I had only managed to postpone the inevitable and enrage my kidnapper somewhat, but I had fought, and that was sufficient for me. I awaited his next move, knowing full well how harsh he intended to be, thanks to the burden of my shattered arm.
He struck me in the stomach with his first strike, which was forceful and significant but didn't satisfy him. Neither of us blinks. Now that I had him in check, I collapsed to the ground and exposed my neck. He roared as I acquiesced, and the last thing I saw before he knocked me out, was his contorted face
