Chapter 10
Thea's Point of View
I walked up to Craig and placed my arm over his shoulder to comfort him, "Are you alright?"
I can see how he swallowed many times and got guilty because of the way he asked her mother to leave.
"Hey... I am so sorry that you and my mother-in-law had a disagreement because of me."
He shook his head, gave me a bear hug, and pulled my face on his chest while wrapping his arms around me, "No. It is my job to give an apology for what my mother did."
I grabbed his hand off of my head and looked him dead in the eye, "Why does she appear so mad with me?"
He pushed my head even more as if he's scared that I will go away from him. However, it didn't stop me to question him.
"Why did she say that I'm just like my mother? Did my mom and her have a quarrel before my parents died?"
“To be honest, I have no clue either. When it comes to personal matters, I don't feel comfortable addressing them with my mom.”
“Who is this Felicity that I kept hearing about?”
I felt his body tense and stiff. He didn't answer first but I didn't move either. I really want to know what's happening.
After an extended period of quiet, he finally broke the silence.
"She used to be my fiance. My... first lover."
'Oh... This is the reason why her mother favored that woman so much.'
"We planned for us to be married and they expected it. But... she ditched the wedding to follow her ambitions in Paris. It's her dream, so I didn't stop her."
“Ah... so the reason she's annoyed with me is simply because I married you.” I chuckled.
“Well... I can't blame her. Who will be proud of the woman who has not yet established herself professionally or built a name for herself?” I looked earnestly at his eyes.
This is the first time that I have felt insecurities about myself since I married him.
"I'm just Timothea Curtis because my parents left their wealth to me. I inherited everything , the reason why my name roared."
Every word I uttered was full of bitterness and jealousy towards the Felicity they mentioned.
“Of course not! Don't say such irrelevant things. Everything about you, you don't know how proud I am!” He lifted my face and kissed me to the lips.
After that talk we had, we went to bed early and it seemed like very little time had elapsed. It is now nine o'clock at night.
I turned to Craig to make sure he is sleeping well now and silently went into the closet where he keeps his laptop.
As I took it out and open I saw that there is no lock on it. The image that appeared on the screen was of me sleeping.
That is the background on his computer screen.
When exactly did he take this photograph?
I couldn't help but smile but instantly moved on to searching Facebook.
I easily logged in and found Craig's profile to be active. He didn't log out.
I quickly skipped through the messages and went directly to his profile, where I checked out the people he was friends with. In addition, I looked for the name Felicity, but I was unable to find anything about her.
Nevertheless, it didn't stop me from investigating more and looking for Lily Holden.
And when I began scrolling through her timeline, I saw a recent post of her where she tagged a girl.
It has been two days since the post.
"I'll see you soon, my darling."
When I read the name, I realized that it belonged to the individual whose name I had been trying to find.
Felicity Smith.
****
I was completely unaware of how rapidly the hours, days, and weeks had passed. Since I heard Felicity's name for the first time. To add more, Craig's mother hasn't come back anymore.
Aunt Joana, on the other hand, never contacted me about what she had said about getting out to discuss despite the fact that she had mentioned going out. Mason never visited me, either.
They are like bubbles that suddenly gone.
Craig is adjusting the tie that comes with his black tuxedo as he stands in front of the mirror.
Since he has already had his month-long vacation, he will resume his job the moment it is convenient for him to do so. It will be necessary for him to organize the ultimate collaboration between the two businesses.
The Holden and Curtis businesses merging.
I was perched on the head of the king-size bed, flipping through a magazine that featured our business on its pages. Since I let him know how I felt about him preventing me from learning more about the past, he hasn't stood in the way of my research into the company.
He slightly shaved the sides of his head to look dashing and wore black tuxedo clothing, matching his black shoes.
So handsome.
Because I was busy complimenting his look, I didn't notice that he already sat down next to me with his feet still on the floor.
I was taken aback when he suddenly kissed the bridge of my nose and continued on the lips while he pricked me on the forehead.
In the past month that Craig and I have spent at home together, nothing significant has taken place. I was also given peace of mind by him since I was aware that if he was hiding anything from me, he would not let me get knowledge about it. Even though I'm getting close to finishing up the red capsule that Aunt Joana gave me, I still don't bring it up in conversation with him.
I was in the midst of pondering something when he interrupted me.
"You are required to be at the big event the following week when I take over as CEO of the two big companies."
"Is it really needed?"
“I'm gonna cancel it if you're not there because I'm going to brag about how beautiful my wife is. I'll show the world of how kind and kind-hearted she is."
I gave Craig a little peck on the cheek as I slipped the magazine into the crease of my leg. My heart is fluttering with happiness because of what he said.
"Of course, I'll come. What type of woman would want to miss the happiest day of her husband's life?"
"No. The day we stood before God on the altar, made a pledge to one another, and then exchanged rings was the most important day of my life. I can trade everything just for it to happen again."
He slowly brought his face close to mine. I closed my eyes as I could already feel his breath.
"This is my first day at the company again after the month of our honeymoon. And it seems like I'll be absent again."
He pushed me to bed and made his tongue enter my mouth.
"It's your fault," he whispered before removing my clothes."
