Chapter 29
Thea’s Point of View
As soon as I saw the light, I slowly opened my eyes. I couldn't get up off the bed because I felt like I had been hit.
“What time is it? I feel like I've been sleeping for a long time.” I muttered to myself as I helped myself up. I'm pretty sure that my body will give out from exhaustion. When I thought about what had happened last night, my ears turned bright red. My private area hurts, too.
"Err... Ugh." I groaned as I got out of bed and rested my head on the headboard. Also, my body was tired, and my throat was dry. I'd like to drink some cold water. Including my body was shaking because of the pain, I feel like I'm getting beaten up. All of my veins are pummeling.
“Where is Craig?”
The room was quiet, and the window was open, but Craig wasn't next to me. My eyes started to get teary. “It seems, to him, nothing happened, and he left without waking me up.”
I feel a tightness in my chest. I put my arms around my knees and cried. My knees were already wet because my face was on them. The sobs wouldn't stop.
As I tried to calm myself and was about to get up and go to the other room to get my clothes, the door opened.
"Are you still sleeping—" Craig opened the door. “Hmmn...”
At first, he hadn't seen me, but when he did, his eyes quickly got bigger. He was in his boxer shorts and had a knife in one hand and a doorknob in the other.
"Why are you crying?!?" He ran at me quickly, not sure where to put the knife. He gripped both of my shoulders, which made me look up. "Is it hurting? Is it because it's so painful?" He gave each of my arms a gentle shake. "I’m sorry. I won't do it if you don't want me to. I won’t ever—”
Because he was fidgety, he didn't finish the last thing he had to say, and I slapped him before he could finish. He was surprised by what I did, which made me cry even more.
“You!” I hit him again with the pillow I was holding. Even though I hit him a lot, he didn't fight back, but I could hear him moaning.
"Ugh ...! Ouch ..! Ugh, Baby W-wha." Now, I used another pillow to hit him on the head. Now, he has his hand on his head to keep me from hitting him.
"I was thinking..." I sobbed even harder. Is this how sensitive I was? What happened to my bravery last night? My rage was like a virus, and Craig was the cure. "I assumed you left... because... because... you weren't pleased with what happened between us." I cried again, this time covering the blanket with my body. My tears had saturated the cushion in less than a few seconds.
“What? What am I doing?" He's now sitting on the floor, holding his dislocated jaw. I'll admit that he has the sexiest appearance in that posture. I then had a look at his legs in the middle, which were swelled from merely wearing boxer shorts. When he realized where I was looking, he smiled and rose from his seat.
He leaned in and softly kissed my neck before clutching my waist. "I'm not going anywhere; if I do, I'll just go to the company. Were you worried about what happened to Felicity and me at work? I've already told you everything."
I moved away from him and looked in the mirror, where we could see where we were. It's lovely to see our position like this. I hope it never changes, that it never ends. "However, the person who cheated, according to the internet, would never disclose it, particularly to his wife. They will not admit or apologize until they are apprehended."
"You know you should avoid reading anything on the internet because who knows what kind of inaccurate information you'll get?"
I put my head on his chest, and he rested his chin on the top of my head. I hammered on his chest as well. We were just having fun when we smelled something burning. We originally imagined that the electricity was on fire, but the stink became worse.
"What is that?" I inhale the air as though the odor is present.
When he quickly leapt up and his eyes blazed, I was taken aback. "That's what I'm cooking!" He said as he snatched the knife he'd been holding before and walked out. He nearly tripped when he walked on the floor cushion.
I laughed when he was out of sight. I rose up and entered the restroom. In the mirror, I grinned at myself. “At the very least, you no longer look like you are walking on eggshells.”
I'm glad that my overthinking was somewhat distilled. I have many more questions, but all I can do is wait till I receive the answers one by one. All I can think about is why Craig is so upset with Aunt Joana and Mason when they were at the company.
When I got downstairs, he was already serving meals. I was wearing denim shorts and a white T-shirt. There was bacon, eggs, hotdogs, ham, and corn soup on the table. There's also fried rice, which I guess he overcooked since there's just the two of us. He was clothed sensuously in an apron. Even if you put a rag on him, he'll look good. When he spotted me, he smiled. When I noticed the maids hadn't returned, I rolled my eyes.
"Why aren't the maids here?" I couldn't continue to disregard the question. He indicated for me to sit and pulled the chair. He put food on my plate.
"First, I treated them to a trip. Apart from watering the lawn, there isn't much to do."
"What exactly do you mean? Should they be deported?" As he proceeded to remove his apron and seat in front of me, I took the spoon and fork.
“No. Vacation. I got them a beachfront hotel so they could recuperate."
“Oh. Okay.”
Only the sound of silverware and plates could be heard since we were so silent. I was eating when I remembered the package I saw yesterday, so I asked him without looking up.
"What happened to the box you gave me last night?"
He stood up and picked it. When he put the new box next to me, there was no more blood. The headless doll and knife, however, remained. When I picked up the folding knife, I saw it had a note. The black paper came off when the folding knife was fully opened. There was red writing when I opened it, but my fear was heightened when I saw the same sentence I had already read.
“The past holds the secret.”
