Chapter 40
Thea's Point of View
Craig’s topic about Felicity and mommy Lily was never brought up again. Even though I knew Craig’s decision would enrage mama Felicity, I never considered it. I don’t mind if Craig wants to talk about it, and I don’t mind if he doesn’t want to cut his ties with Felicity. I’m not paying attention to that initially right now. I’m more aware of my sudden shifts in emotion and feeling.
It’s been a week since my last appointment with my doctor.
I’m back in the bathroom, and I’m feeling sick. Craig had gone early for work, so he couldn’t have seen me in this circumstance again. I need to act quickly because I will go to the hospital later to get the findings. If I’m pregnant, I’ll also get a checkup to see how I’m doing.
I’ll head to the company once I am done, to see what’s going on there. It’s not good for me to just sit here and wait for the next disaster to strike the company, especially when Mason and aunt Joana are in charge.
I’d take the business from Mason if I could just simply snatch it from him, but that’s not feasible because he’s also one of the heirs.
A basic flexible dress is what I’m wearing today. My arms appear to have expanded in size. My face is also turning a little chubby.
Craig saw how hungry I was, so I bought a lot of milk to make sure I had enough milk in case I was pregnant.
I walked a long distance to locate a cab because there was no driver. I felt like I was strolling in a faraway village as soon as I arrived at the parking lot; it was nice, and I kept wet tissue in my bag so that I wouldn’t sweat too much and stink up the place. I was taken to the hospital right away.
I was wondering about Megan in the cab because she hadn’t texted me yet. I just knew she’d gotten out of the country. At first, I was shocked since I had no idea if Rayleigh was aware of the situation.
I rushed to the hospital after getting out of the taxi; thankfully, the doctor was already inside, so I didn’t have to wait long. He ordered a nurse to take me to my room straight away. They won’t conduct an ultrasound, since ultrasounds are only done in the first trimester to determine the due date. I believe they will ask only a few questions rather than a full physical examination. I am not quite sure because I’m not an expert on the matter.
They asked me to put on a hospital gown again and scan me in the MIR as soon as possible. When we were done, I saw the slightly larger circle once again on the monitor. The doctor turned to face me and gave me a confident gaze.
“Take a look at this.” He made a circle with his finger. “A tumor won’t develop quickly in a week if it’s a tumor. Of course, if the food is stuck due to an unknown sickness or any other reason. Because you’re digesting food, it doesn’t remain and goes gone. Follow me into my office while I ask some additional questions to confirm.”
I followed him right away. I wasn’t mistaken; his queries were all about how I was feeling. I was undergoing morning sickness. He stated that morning sickness is common and that pregnancy is usually challenging, so I should be extra cautious. I feel my heart and head float as he explains things to me.
“This is the outcome of your last physical examination. Is your friend, in any case, not going to accept her results? The results have already been released. Just tell her when she can take it, and I’ll take care of the rest. After all, the doctor who examines her will request a leave of absence.” He then handed me the brown envelope and walked away after saying that.
I wasn’t sure if I should be glad or frightened as I walked out of the hospital since I was concerned Craig wouldn’t like it and wouldn’t be ready yet. When I was exiting the building, a car abruptly came to a halt in front of me. I assumed he had stopped by accident, but as he went down the window, I was shocked to see it was Wayne.
How did he get here? My eyes widened instantly. What brings him here?
He grinned as he waved at me. I’m not sure what I’ll do since I’m afraid of what Craig would say, and based on his previous reactions, I’m sure he won’t like it if he finds out I’m seeing Wayne. I don’t want it to be a source of contention between us. Especially when he chose to stay away from Felicity.
I know there are still a lot of unresolved questions between us, but I want to wait for the day when he tells me the truth because I believe he has a reason for not telling me.
I was about to inform him that I had to go and wouldn’t be able to accompany him when he lifted his hand to greet me again, but I noticed something. The ring on his middle finger caught my eye. I’d overlook it if it was simply a regular ring.
However, the ring on his finger looked identical to the ring in my company’s office drawer.

As Wayne's car followed me out of the cab, I promptly exited. I told him to come with me to the company and we’d go somewhere after that, and then I’d ask him a question.
He was perplexed at first, but he didn’t ask any questions and did not do anything when I hailed a cab. He didn’t even try to force me into his car.
I went straight to my office’s upper floor.
Because it was office glass, I could tell Mason wasn’t in his office instantly. I grabbed the ring from my drawer and stuffed it into my purse so it wouldn’t be misplaced. I ran out, passing some individuals who greeted me, but I was too preoccupied with my numerous questions to notice them.
Wayne noticed me exiting the building and leaned against his car, waiting for me. I didn’t get in his car when he stood up and offered it to me. I walked up to and simply spoke with him.
“Behind this building is a restaurant. Because it is the only restaurant in the area, you can see it right away. I’ll ask you a question if you find me there.” My word is still hasty. I instantly hailed another cab and boarded it. I removed the ring from my purse and began to play with it when I was inside.
I studied the carved phrases carefully, and I was able to deduce the meaning. (Nunc scio quid sit amor) I couldn’t explain how I felt when I first saw it. All I knew was what it represented and its meaning, and I assumed it was mine until I noticed Wayne wearing the exact.
I walked into the restaurant and saw that he was already ahead of me. Perhaps I was too preoccupied to see his car passing the cab I was in. As we walked into the restaurant, he followed me. Because there weren’t many people, we were able to get a table right away. We did not get a VIP room. I’ll just ask him about something.
I hope he'll answer.
