Chapter 48
Thea’s Point of View
“Megan!”
“Thea!”
It seemed like our words were echoing throughout the entire grocery store. Both of our mouths were covered by our hands. She appeared out of nowhere and started jumping for joy. At the same time, I was smiling to myself. It has never occurred to me that it has been far too long since I've communicated with her.
Just as we were about to ask each other about how things were doing in our lives, Ray's child began bawling. They had been fighting for a long time before finally being together. When I looked at Cray and Craig, they were both staring at Ray intentionally. Looking at them, it is evident that they are father and son. Then I was asked whether I was ready to welcome Craig into our life again. What about Felicity and mommy Lily?
I was brought back to myself when Megan touched me and raised her brow in a manner that suggested she wanted to say something. Because I knew everything was going through her mind, I could only chuckle and shake my head in response to what she was doing. She believed that Craig and I had reconciled our relationship. This is the one thing I do not have complete faith in due to the many people who can stand in our way.
"Would you like to spend the night at our place so that we can get to know one other better since the years you’re gone?" She said this to me, her eyes gleaming with anticipation as if she expected me to answer in the affirmative.
Cray yawned again and rested his head on his father’s shoulder while I stared at him. We had been outside earlier and the heat was still on, so he was probably hungry. I’ll have to change his diaper as well. I’m merely taking the milk that we’ve been looking for. This is the last brand and box on the shelf.
“Maybe next time. Because Cray needs to rest. If it’s okay with you, we could meet next week.” I said as I pulled out my phone to enter her number.
“I have her number.”
“Oh.”
Not long after that, we showed ourselves at the front desk to make our payment. When I pulled out my credit card to swipe it, he quickly grabbed my hand and held it with one of his hands since he needed to use the other hand to support Cray, who was dozing off at the time.
“I can pay.” I removed his hand that was holding me, but I don’t know when he got his card. His black card. Is he crazy? We only went to the grocery market. Why does he issue a black card?
“I should pay for my child’s necessities.” He said seriously. I was just about to answer what he said when suddenly someone shouted at the other counter.
“Let daddy slash hubby pay the bills. Yahoo!” I wanted to hide because of what she said. It’s embarrassing because everyone looked at us, even the people who followed our line. The contour of Megan’s tongue still hasn’t changed. She’s still noisy to this day and her mouth has no brakes. Ray stopped her immediately, but the woman still seemed angry.
Eventually, I had just given up and just sighed. Is there anything I can do? I didn’t want to argue with him over small things.
Because we bought a bit more than we needed. He gave Cray to me so he could handle the plastic bags. He was apprehensive at first about handing Cray over to me, but he ultimately did. What did he think of me? I run my son away from him again? He already knew Cray was his son.
To be honest, the event moved at a breakneck pace for me. This, I believe, indicates that I never grew up. I couldn’t help but feel weird by the time we got in the car, especially because Cray was sound asleep and I had no reason to be with him. He spoke in the midst of our quiet. The night is also starting to peek.
He was the one who broke the silence. Since he was with me, I have not heard from him. He only talks when it is necessary. I’m curious whether he talks.
“What cut do you want from my hair?” I turned violently to the side as he inquired, almost getting smacked by the vehicle window. I’m not sure why I did it.
When he abruptly braked the car, I was only hit a second time. Why would he ask such a thing out of nowhere?
“I-I don’t know about you, but it’s your hair, so you decide,” I said, “Cray doesn’t want long hair.” That was the only reason I could think of for him to get a haircut. His long hair suits him, but I still want to see Craig’s face.
As we reached the enormous building’s parking lot, I saw his despair in his demeanor. This is most likely his apartment. I’m not sure why I felt so guilty when I saw his look, but I replied to his question before I went and exited the car with Cray.
“The clean cut is good for you.” I quickly opened the car door and went inside the building but also stopped immediately, remembering that I had just been here and I didn’t know what floor he was on or what his room number was. Given the size of their mansion and the mansion we used to have when we got married, I don’t know why he was settling here.
We went straight to his room, and I left Cray in Craig’s room because I could feel my bladder since I had been peeing excessively. As soon as I set him down, I dashed to the bathroom. When I was done, my gaze was drawn to the side table. When I came closer, I noticed a piece of paper.
Someone quickly grabbed my hand as I read what it was.
