Risk of her life
Danica felt the subtle coldness in Nicole's parents’ treatment of her when she visited them. She felt like she was going crazy because she felt that everyone around her had changed their opinion of her.
Danica slumped on the sofa in her room. She was currently in her own house. She needed to think and figure out what everyone’s thinking about her. She drank alone because she seemed to be going crazy about many things. She could not accept that she would lose everything she had worked hard for. She can't lose the path to the life she wanted to have and the person she wanted to be with forever.
Rita didn't know how long she had been outside the building where Danica's condominium was. Ever since she knew her true identity, she had always followed her. She called her because she was getting impatient, she still had to act like her friend so she wouldn’t suspect.
"Hello?" She did not bother to look at who the caller was.
"I was worried about you, so I called you."
Danica smirked as she recognized the voice from the other line. "I’m fine, I just want to spend time alone."
"Are you drunk?"
Danica smirked again when Rita's voice was full of worry. But her eyes became sharp as she stared into the distance. She was holding in her left hand the glass filled with wine and the right one was holding the phone.
"Just a little." She answered nonchalantly.
"Where are you? I'll go there." Rita asked her even though she knew where she was.
"No need because I want to be alone. Let's just meet later." She meaningfully answered her before she ended the call. She spent a few minutes before deciding to leave.
Rita quickly hid behind her car when she saw Danica come out. She followed her before she disappeared from her sight. She used Xander's car so she wouldn't know it was her in case she noticed she was tailing her.
Nicole suddenly felt nervous while sitting. She was now in Steven's office and she was alone there because he had a meeting. She didn't know why, but she couldn't be calm. She knew that Danica had not come to work and that she was not in the mansion either. A few seconds later, her phone rang and she immediately answered the call when she saw that it was Danica.
"Are you doing what I told you?" Danica asked Nicole angrily.
"You know Steven can't be dictated. I'm convincing him, but…
"Liar!" Danica yelled from the other line. "If you think you can fool me with all your drama, you're wrong! You'll regret coming back alive and taking away everything I own!"
"Danica, please, that's enough…"
"Bitch! I know you told the truth to your parents! And before you continue to ruin me at everything, I'm not letting you succeed!"
Nicole was horrified when she heard Danica's crazy laugh.
"No, I didn't tell anyone, Danica." She quickly denied.
"Liar! You ugly, you really want to snatch everything from me!"
"You know that's not true, Danica. You're the one who did that and…"
"Shut up!"
Nicole pulled the cell phone away from her ear because of the loudness of Danica's voice.
"I'll kill them, and it's your fault why they will die!" She laughed out loud as her eyes rolled.
"Danica, I beg you, that's enough! I'll do whatever you want. Please, I beg you…"
"Too late!" Danica cut what else Nicole wanted to say.
"He-Hello? Danica? Hello?!" Nicole felt anxious when the call ended. "Oh, my God! What's going on?"
Nicole didn't know what to do. She quickly called Rita because she knew she was following Danica. She dialed three times before she picked up.
"What do you need from my friend?"
Nicole's eyes widened as she slowly pulled the phone away from her ear. Her hand trembled and she looked at her phone to see if the number she was calling was correct.
"No…!" She whispered after reading Rita's name on the cell phone screen. She covered her own mouth to prevent making noise.
It was as if she had seen a ghost and she was afraid. She could not be mistaken as to who answered her call. She can't know that she and Rita have a connection. She must not find out that they were secretly talking.
"Uhmm…"
Nicole almost let go of the cell phone she was holding when she heard a woman growl from the other line. She soon heard laughter from Danica.
"Did you hear her?" Danica laughed demonically again.
"Da-Danica?" Her voice trembled as she called the woman's name to make sure she was indeed the one holding Rita's cell phone.
"It's me and no one else!" She said, followed by a crisp laugh.
"Danica…"
"I told you, you can't fool me!"
Tears quickly dripped from Nicole's eyes and her lower lip trembled. She could feel the anger and pleasure in Danica's voice.
"It's your fault why she will die! Everyone who knows my secret will die! But don't worry because you will be the last one among them." Danica laughed continuously as her eyes glazed over at Rita whose mouth was covered.
"Danica, what did you do to Rita? She's your friend and she doesn't know anything about what's going on between the two of us." Nicole tried to convince her and she prayed to the heavens that Danica would believe in her.
"If you hadn't told her the truth, she would still be my friend!" Danica yelled angrily.
"Danica, she doesn't know, believe me!" She started to cry when she heard Rita's growl again. It looked like her mouth was gagged so she can't speak.
"Listen, bitch! This is my last warning for you. When you tell Steven the truth, you won't even get to touch your daughter's corpse. Even Rita won't ever see the sunshine!"
Nicole could barely walk after Danica dropped the call. Her knees were shaking because of the fear of what Danica might do to her daughter and Rita. She calmed herself down before leaving the office. She had to find a way to save the lives of Rita and her child. She was afraid to face Steven because she might accidentally say everything. She had already made a mistake with Rita and she didn't want it to happen again.
While driving, Nicole's cell phone rang again. This time, she received a video call on the messenger from Danica. She suddenly braked when Rita's face appeared on the screen and she had a gag in her mouth. Fortunately, she was able to stop the car by the side to avoid an accident.
"Danica, I beg you, don't hurt them!" She pleaded with the woman, but she just laughed.
"If you want them to stay alive, don't make the mistake of taking a step I don't like. It should be clear to you by now that I can do everything. I know all your actions, so I know you've conspired with Rita." Danica said arrogantly while grinning.
"You devil, you really don't have a heart!" She angrily cursed Danica when she saw the wound on Rita's arm. Her cheek was also red and she knew Danica had done it.
Danica just laughed at the same time as she pulled the arm of a child brought by a man. Nicole's heart almost broke when Danica made the girl face the camera. She was crying and she looked afraid when she saw Rita tied up.
"Grandma Soledad, where are you?" Crying, Natasha called to her known grandmother.
"Shut your mouth, you're making my head ache with your loud cry!" Danica angrily shouted at the girl.
"Don't yell at her! You're scaring her even more."
"You shut up!" Danica turned to Nicole. "You're not in the position to order me around or tell me what to do!"
Natasha's cries grew louder in fear of the woman holding her arm. Her grip on her was tight and her long nails had almost sunk into her skin.
Nicole could do nothing but cry when she saw Danica slap her daughter. She even threatened to torture the child if she complained or informed others about it. She didn't want to upset Danica anymore, so she decided to do as she said.
Instead of going home, Nicole went to the hospital first. She needed someone to talk to and Kanor was the only person she could do that with.
"Dad, get well. Maybe this will be my last visit to you because Danica is acting again. She's already holding Rita because she found out that Rita already knows her true identity."
Even though he could not answer, Nicole just continued speaking in front of Kanor. She hoped that he will wake up soon and help her.
"I'm leaving, Danica needs to see me at the mansion before it gets dark." She said goodbye. She no longer waited for Gaven. The maid took her place when she left.
When she arrived at the mansion, Steven was not back yet. She immediately looked for Sean and hugged him tightly with Daniela.
"Did you cry, Mommy?" Sean asked his mother when he noticed the redness in her eyes.
"Sean, son, no matter what happens to me, don't leave your siblings."
"Why? You're going somewhere and you won't be coming back soon?" Sean frowned at his mother.
Nicole caressed her son's cheek and held back her own tears. When she looked at Daniela, she was staring at her sadly. She hugged her and her tears flowed when she spoke.
"Mommy, don't leave me again." Daniela's voice trembled.
"That's not going to happen, daughter! Thank you for accepting me as your real mother!"
Sean also hugged his mother and sister. He was happy because his mother was happy when his sister called her Mommy.
Madame Asuncion happily watched Nicole and the twins. But she still hadn't lost the feeling she had earlier. She felt something bad had happened. She felt the same way when her grandchildren's parents died.
