Secret reveal
"Steven, when you read this letter of mine, I am no longer here, so don't look for me anymore. Forgive me for the sins I have committed against you. I will leave Daniela with you again and Sean. I need to get away to find myself. It's also my fault why Rita was kidnapped. Please forgive me and don't vent your anger toward me on the children. I wish you and Danica happiness. To her, I entrust our two children. I know she will love the children more than I did as a real mother. I'm worthless and everything Soledad said is true."
Steven shredded the paper on which Nicole's letter was written. He was angry and he could not allow Nicole to leave just like that.
"Hijo, calm down first. We need to put your sister first before that problem with Nicole." Asuncion calmed her grandson.
"Grandma's right, Steven. I don't know what else Nicole wants to happen." Danica hugged the young man sadly.
Steven tried not to let the children know about their mother’s departure for the time being. He could not bear to see them hurt, especially Daniela. He didn't want her to be disappointed with her real mother again.
Just minutes later, the kidnapper called Steven.
"I know you contacted someone to help you, bear the consequence." Brando angrily threatened Steven.
Steven's eyes rolled and suspiciously looked around to see if anyone else was there. He wondered how the kidnapper knew his every move.
"Because of that, I will temporarily suspend negotiations with you. If you repeat and continue planning against me, your sister will never see the light of day!"
"Shit!" Steven almost threw the phone he was holding when the man ended the call. He was not even given a chance to speak. He would have had to extend the call for even a few minutes to trace his location.
"How did he know our actions?" Asuncion asked in astonishment.
"No, it can't be," Danica said while shaking her head.
"Do you have any idea who?" Steven knit his brows.
"Nicole mentioned in the letter that it was her fault why Rita and I were kidnapped." Danica said in a terrified voice.
"She can't do that!" Steven’s jaw clenched. He forcefully denied in his mind that she might be right.
Asuncion sadly shook her head. Even she couldn’t quite imagine Nicole being able to do that. There was not enough reason for her to think of harming them.
"Where are you going?" Danica also stood up when Steven stood up.
"Stay here. I have to make a way to end this."
"But Steven, they might be harmed because of what you're going to do." Danica wanted to stay close to him to know his steps.
Steven stared at the woman, there seemed to be something wrong, but he just put it aside. "Thanks for worrying. Do take care of the kids until I find Nicole."
Danica frowned when the young man mentioned the woman's name. He was still concerned about the latter and seemed to be leaving to search for her. "I'll let you until you get tired of looking for her because I will bury her alive in the ground!" She muttered to herself.
"Rest first because what happened to you is not a joke." Asuncion instructed Danica before she decided to go to her great-grandchildren’s rooms.
Danica just locked herself in her room. But she made sure someone followed Steven to find out what he would do. She was very happy because everything went according to her plan. Nicole's parents would be a piece of cake to her and she would abduct them. All she needed now was to get the money in exchange for Rita. She also had to dispose Soledad after she buried Nicole alive.
"Sir, I heard what happened to your family. Is it true that Ma'am Nicole left?" Tony asked Steven while driving.
Steven turned sadly to the gentleman. "I don't want to think about it, but she admitted in the letter that she was the reason why Rita was kidnapped."
"Do you believe she can do that?"
Steven stared at Tony skeptically. By the way he spoke, he seemed to know something about Nicole.
"I've been silent for a long time, Sir. It's time for you to know the truth. Sir Kanor still doesn't wake up and before he had the accident, he left Ma'am Nicole to me."
"What do you mean? Why do you know Kanor and he trusts you?" Steven knit his brows.
Tony slowed the car down. "I'm sorry, Sir, but I used to work for Sir Kanor. I applied as your driver to watch over Nicole's daughter."
"Are you a spy? What is your motive?" Steven asked the man angrily and he became on guard.
"We are not your real enemy, Sir. The real victim here is Ma'am Nicole." Tony quickly explained to the young man.
"How can I believe you that you're not one of those trying to harm my family?"
"Take this," Tony took out the phone he always carried. "That's Soledad's phone. Through that, Nicole and Sean survived back then."
Steven took the phone from Tony's hand without hesitation. He quickly turned it on and opened all its contents. He immediately recognized the number registered in the phone book. To confirm, he opened the gallery.
"Hello, my Dear…"
Steven's eyes widened when Danica's face appeared in the first video. Even his voice was on the record and he remembered when he said that.
"H-How did it all happen?" Steven muttered angrily and he punched the dashboard in anger.
"It's clear in the video that she planned to use Nicole's child to stay by your side. Nicole mentioned before that there was an agreement between your grandmother and Danica, so she did that to Nicole." Tony explained to him.
Steven's muscles trembled from the rage at that moment. Everything was clear in the single video, that Nicole was set up by Danica. Even the drink at the hotel back then, he was sure that Danica was also the one who planned that and she pretended that she was the victim of Nicole's scheme.
"Sir Kanor asked me to work as your driver to monitor Danica's every move. And I've discovered a secret of hers."
"Go on," Steven said and his eyes were cold as ice.
"I found out that she became part of your family because she introduced herself as Rita's childhood friend. When I told that to Nicole, she was very hurt. Because Danica not only took her child, but also used her past."
Steven's jaw and shoulders dropped as he stared down the road. He didn’t know what he should feel right now.
"Sir, Danica is holding Ma'am Nicole by the neck now with your third child."
Steven felt he would explode with anger. He quickly suppressed the tears that wanted to escape his eyes. He couldn't quite imagine how hard those experiences were for Nicole. How she tried to get back to find their other child. He was even more worried now at the thought that he had another child and that she was Danica's hostage.
"Let's return!"
Tony was nervous at the tone of Steven's voice. He was like a hungry wolf ready to bite the head of its prey.
"Sir, calm down first. You can't attack Danica and let her know that you already know her true colors. Remember that she has one of the triplets and even your sister."
Steven closed his eyes tightly and forced himself to calm down. Tony was right, he needed to calm down. He can't use violence like Danica. It was now clear to him why the kidnapper knew his actions. They may already caught Nicole and he didn't want to think that way, but they were unlikely to give back his sister alive. He had never imagined that he had been caring for a devil in his household for so long!
"Please be careful with your every move, Sir. Someone is following us."
Steven peeked into the side mirror of the car and saw a vehicle behind them slowly following them. He also noticed it earlier, but didn’t pay attention.
"Thank you for everything, you're right, I need to be calm. I should focus on Danica."
Tony smiled and followed his order to return to the mansion. He hoped he could save the lives of Nicole, their third child and his sister.
"Since you've also been a spy in my family, I want you to help me watch Danica's moves from now on. I need to know where she's hiding Rita."
"You can count on me for that, Sir."
When he got back, Steven immediately looked for his grandmother. He also ordered all the maids to clean the whole mansion, particularly the sofas. He wanted to make sure there were no hidden cameras planted inside his house.
"What happened?" The Madame asked in confusion when she saw what her grandson was doing.
"I just want the house to be clean. Let's go to your room first." Steven led his grandmother.
On the corner of his eyes, he spotted Danica's figure. She obviously didn't want him to notice her presence.
"It's not good for Grandma to inhale even a little dust, so clean well!" He authoritatively ordered the maids before continuing to enter his grandmother's room.
Danica shrugged and went back to her room and resumed what she was doing online.
