Begging
Steven quickly ran toward the ambulance carrying his third child whom he would see for the first time. Seeing the child's face, he couldn't hold back his tears.
"D-daughter? Daddy is here! Forgive Daddy if I only met you now."
Even the police and staff in the ambulance were moved to tears by the event in front of them. They did not know the whole story about them, but they felt the great guilt and longing of the child's father.
Steven's heart was filled with fear because the girl didn't open her eyes. She was also pale and thin. When he caressed her cheek, his fingers trembled.
"Sir, she needs to be taken to the emergency room for treatment."
Steven did not answer the nurse who had spoken. He quickly picked up the child with care and ran to the emergency room.
"I beg you, do everything you can to save my daughter's life!"
"Sir, please calm down first and go out. We will do our best." The doctor said.
Steven stepped out of the emergency room dejectedly. He was depressed because two lives of his loved ones were in danger. Nicole was still in the operating room and now his daughter was also not in good condition because she had a convulsion. When he remembered his son, he quickly called Gaven. But no one answered Gaven's phone, so his nervousness increased. He had already ordered his subordinates earlier to follow Gaven and help find Sean.
Sean kept walking and trying to find the right way back to his sister. He was tired, but he didn't stop. He worried that his Daddy Gaven might not have seen her yet and that she'd be found by the abductors.
"That boy fooled us, it looks like he helped our captive to escape." Toby was furious when they couldn't find the girl.
"Let's go and find him. He must be with our captive."
Toby quickly followed his companion. But they had not gone far when they were surprised by armed men.
"Raise your hands!" The leader of the team shouted.
Gaven approached the two men caught and immediately grabbed one of them by the sleeve. "Where's the boy?"
"We don't have him and we don't know who you're looking for." Toby denied.
"If you don't tell the truth, I'll shoot you and throw you into that cliff." Gaven threatened the men.
Toby was scared and it wasn’t the police who caught them. "We don't really know, Boss and we're also looking for them. But we last saw the boy there."
Gaven's gaze followed where the man was pointing. He quickly let go of him and walked down the path.
The two men couldn't do anything when they were handcuffed and dragged out of the forest.
"Sean? Where are you?" Gaven called again to the boy as he strode.
Sean stopped in his tracks when he heard the familiar voice. He turned to the direction of the voice and shouted. "Daddy, I'm here!"
He thanked heaven several times when he finally found him. "You scared me!"
Sean just laughed and asked him to carry him because he was tired of walking.
When Sean got in the car, Gaven called Steven.
"Thanks, God!" Steven exclaimed when he heard Sean's voice from the other line.
Tony also arrived with his grandmother who was crying. Though dejected, he tried to show the old woman that he was okay, so that she would not worry too much.
"Just stay here first, I'll just meet Sean." Steven said to his grandmother. There must be someone left so that the doctor can talk to someone after the operation.
"Daddy!" Sean ran to his father when he got out of the car.
Steven knelt on one knee and hugged his son. He was dirty and he was very guilty of what happened to him to save his sister's life.
"Good boy, baby! But don't do something like that again, okay?"
"I'm sorry if you worried too much!" Smiling, he kissed his father on the cheek before hugging him tightly again.
Steven quickly wiped the tears from his eyes and lifted his son.
"We also need to get him checked to make sure he's not injured somewhere."
Steven just remembered that Gaven was there when he spoke. "Thanks a lot! Without you, one of them might have been doomed."
Gaven patted Steven on the shoulder and nodded. Somehow, he was happy to see his love for Nicole. He was saddened to learn that his friend was not well.
Asuncion smothered Sean with kisses on the cheek while crying.
"Grandma, that's enough. Look, my cheeks are getting dirtier." Sean complained aloofly as he wiped his cheek wet from the old woman's tears.
The people there who saw what was happening laughed at his reaction. He was cute, although aloof. He even used his own clothes to wipe the dirt off his face.
"Kuh, you're just like your father!" Madame Asuncion complained while pinching the boy's cheek.
Steven managed to smile at Sean's haughtiness. He took him to a room and let the doctor examine him. He had only a few scratches and no fractures were seen. The doctor also advised him to undergo a psychiatrist who would help relieve the child’s trauma. Even though he didn't see anything wrong, he agreed with the doctor to make sure his son grew up well.
Natasha was first released from the emergency room and transferred to a private room. Steven will just wait for Nicole's condition to be better and then move them to a bigger hospital and closer to them.
"Who are you?" Natasha asked nervously to the people in the room. She was suddenly frightened when she woke up and saw unknown faces.
"Nat!" Sean called to his sister happily.
"B-Brother!" Natasha stuttered as she called to the boy who had introduced himself earlier as her brother.
Asuncion and Steven bowed their heads at the same time when they saw the fear in Natasha's eyes. They were so hurt because she didn’t know them. Fortunately, she seemed to believe in Sean because he was her saviour.
Sean climbed on the bed to accompany his sister and hugged her. "I'm so happy that you're fine."
Gaven smiled as he watched the two children. He knew that Sean loved his sister even though they had never met before.
"Brother, who are they?" Natasha whispered to her brother.
"He's Daddy Gaven." Sean pointed to Gaven.
Gaven smirked as he saw the aura of Steven's face darken when he was the first Sean introduced to his sister.
"Is he my dad too?" Natasha asked shyly in a low voice.
Steven coughed, but was unable to interfere with the conversation of the two children. It looked like his world had turned upside down.
"You can call him daddy, but our real father is him." Sean pointed to Steven.
Steven immediately smiled at the girl so she wouldn't be scared of him. His smile widened even more when she talked about his resemblance to Sean.
"You also look like him because we're twins. And she's Grandma Asuncion."
"Hello, my granddaughter! I'm so glad to finally meet you. Promise, from now on, you won't be separated from us and we will make it up to you."
Steven noticed that she was not afraid of his grandmother, so he let her take care of her. Probably because she grew up with an elderly. When he approached her and hugged her, he felt she was still scared. It was the same with Gaven. It looked like she was traumatized because of the men who abducted her.
"I will take care of them. Go take care of Nicole." Asuncion said to the two men.
Gaven and Steven exited the room at the same time. Nicole had been taken out of the operating room and moved to a room next to Natasha.
"Her condition is still a bit bad because her internal organ had an infection, so she can't be transferred today." The doctor talked to Steven.
"Thank you so much, Doc!" Gaven and Steven both thanked the doctor.
They sighed at the same time when the doctor left.
"How is your sister?" Gaven broke the silence.
"She's fine. She's at home now to make sure Danica doesn't leave."
"What? That woman hasn't been caught yet and you even let your sister be with her? Are you out of your mind? What if your sister gets hurt by that woman again?"
Steven couldn't react immediately to Gaven's questions. He secretly smiled when he felt that he was too worried about his sister.
"Don't stare at me like that! You know that Danica is crazy because of you." Gaven said unhappily.
"Relax, I won't let any of my loved ones get hurt. She was with someone there and I ensured her safety. As for Danica, I want to let her taste my anger first before handing her over to the police."
Gaven felt Steven's hatred for Danica, so he understood what he wanted to do to the woman. If he was in his shoe, it wouldn't be enough for him to just send her to jail either. With the greatness of the sin she had committed to Steven’s family, he couldn’t quite imagine what the man wanted to do to Danica.
"I'll leave them to you again first. You're the only one I can entrust her to." Steven pleaded as he stared at the sleeping woman.
"You can count on me, just promise that your sister will be fine too." Gaven said seriously.
Steven placed his palm on Gaven's shoulder. He tapped him and nodded. As a man, he knew what he was thinking. "Thank you!"
Steven went to Natasha's room and said goodbye to them.
"Daughter, Daddy will leave first and I'll pick up your sister." He talked to Natasha who was hugging his grandmother.
"T-Take care!" Natasha shyly responded to her father.
He kissed her forehead and Sean's.
"Where is Mommy?" Sean asked his father before he left.
"Mommy is still recovering, but she's fine, so don't worry."
"Be careful, Daddy!" Sean even waved goodbye at his father. He had fully accepted him as his real father.
Steven happily walked out of the room. Together with Tony, he returned to the mansion to settle accounts with Danica. He knew that Nicole's parents were coming too, because he had ordered his subordinates to get them.
Nicole's parents couldn't stop crying when they heard what had happened. They were heartbroken to learn that they had taken care of a snake before and had caused their own daughter suffering.
"Why did this happen? What did I do to be given such a severe punishment from heaven?" Rox wept as she stared at their unconscious daughter.
Joey was quietly crying too and he could only hug his wife.
"The time for visiting the patient is over." The nurse calmly informed the couple.
They nodded understandingly to the nurse. Their daughter could not receive visitors for a long time because her condition was still critical.
After leaving the ICU, the couple went to Natasha's room. Rox blamed herself for what happened to their daughter and grandchildren. If she hadn’t been blinded by Danica’s outward appearance, all this wouldn’t have happened.
"We're all to blame for what happened. Even if we blame ourselves, there's nothing we can do because it's already happened. It's also because of Danica that they are here." Asuncion's eyes were full of love for her great-grandchildren.
"You're right, thank you for sympathizing with me now." Rox smiled in response to the Madame, but the tears continued to flow down her cheeks.
They were happy when their grandchildren called them grandmother and grandfather. Their only wish was to be forgiven by their daughter.
