"Do you still have them all to bite me?" I yelled at him as he snarled, holding his cheek that I'd slapped just moments earlier. "I have the right to do that! I told you you have to face the consequences!"
I could feel my heart beating in my throat and was glad that the wound in the crook of my neck didn't cause much pain, which was probably due to the alcohol. "You really should listen to me and we could save ourselves all this trouble," he admonished, but that only made me angrier.
"Who do you think you are?" I pushed him aside and ran back to the street. I was glad it was so dark. What else would people think if they saw the blood on my shoulder. In addition, more and more warm tears ran down my cheeks, which fortunately Jayden didn't notice, because I didn't want to show any weakness in front of him.
I decided to walk back to the Wialtrama on the street and then asked Eddie to take Lou outside for a moment. The big one wasn't thrilled to get up from his seat, but he did anyway, probably noticing my sobs.
"What happened to you? That was my brother, wasn't it?!" Lou came closer to me and clenched her teeth. I could see that she was trying to contain her anger. "Do you know where Ludwig lives?" I then asked her, because I had the feeling that I couldn't go home like this, or go anywhere else.
"I can tell you where he lives, but are you sure you want to see him in this condition?" "Yes."
She explained the way to me with complicated hand movements and different street names and after a warm hug I disappeared into the darkness of some side streets where really nobody but me was walking. Left right right left. I followed her instructions as best as I could in my condition and eventually ended up on a street that I was sure was the wrong one.
Huge villas all along the street surrounded by beautiful gardens at the front. Old cars, none. Only the best of the best was on display here and even the lanterns looked classier than those in the center of town. I turned back and forth on the sidewalk, wide-eyed, marveling at the architecture of some of the houses.
Number 21 I thought in my head. Lou had given me the number and I was amazed that it was the house that looked even the noblest.
The garden in front was full of flowers and a burgundy Mercedes was parked in the driveway. It all seemed so unreal to me, but I walked down the little white pebble path to the front door and mustered up the courage to ring his doorbell, soaked and shaky.
Before anyone opened the door for me, or before I could make out any movement inside, I realized through the thin pane of glass in the front door that the light had gone on, which made me even more nervous. It was only at that moment that I thought it was a stupid idea, but what should I do about it at that moment.
As the door slowly pulled inward, my legs wobbled and my eyes widened, my breath held. "What-" Ludwig stood in front of me in boxer shorts and looked at the crook of my neck, startled. "I'll kill him!"
He turned abruptly and bolted down the hallway and up a flight of stairs. I didn't know what was happening to me at all and just stood there dazed, but then I hesitantly entered and closed the door behind me.
I found myself in a large hallway made really nice and warm with paintings and a red carpet. The white doors around me were all closed, but I didn't care and ran towards the stairs.
"Ludwig?" I called upstairs, but there was absolute silence in the house, which made my hands tremble. Despite everything, I dared to take the stairs and suddenly found myself in a small hallway that was pitch black. "Ludwig!" I yelled again, only louder this time, but again nothing.
I didn't know what to do anymore and stood shivering in the darkness until my legs gave out and I slid down a wall to start crying bitterly. What was wrong with me, with him, with Jayden. Why did everything in my life become so complicated...
I sat there sobbing until the light came on and I could make out a black chest of drawers in front of me. But it wasn't her that drew my attention, but the picture on it that showed Ludwig with a woman he was holding in his arms. They seemed happy.
"Get up. I'll help you." I looked up into his eyes and noticed that he had changed into a white t-shirt and black pants. His blond hair fell sideways over his shoulders as his hands gently took mine.
I let him help me up and pulled my red raincoat tighter around my body. The wound didn't bother me, but it smelled so strongly of Jayden that you thought he was right behind you. That thought sent a shiver down my spine.
"You must be tired. You can have a lie-in in my guest room," the blonde whispered and hugged me tightly before leading me down the stairs and opening one of the locked doors. "Promise me one thing." I caught his arm before he could step through the door frame. "You stay here! I don't want to be alone, nor do I want you to mess with him over me."
I looked him in the eyes pleadingly and dug my fingernails into his arm. It was a terrible thought that they would fight over me. Especially since he was alone and Jayden had his followers. "But-" "No buts!" I interrupted him and then let go of him to step past him into the room. It was beautiful, especially the soothing rippling water of the small fish tank that fit in the left corner. In the center of the room was a double bed made of white wood, covered with white linens.
"So? Either you stay or I go." I turned to him and he snorted loudly. "Then I'll stay," he murmured and then went to the window to look out into the darkness.
I nodded reassured and took off my jacket, the fabric of which was soaked with blood, which you could only smell, not see. "Give me the jacket. I'll throw it in the washing machine quickly and then get you something comfortable to sleep in."
I handed him the jacket and carefully sat down on the edge of the bed while he left the room, before that he threw me a smile.
My thoughts felt like I was sitting on a merry-go-round that never intended to stop. I wondered if I had ever heard of a woman being mugged and bitten. But I had never been told anything like this before. It was also completely absurd. Everything was absurd. From being banned from things by someone I didn't even know, to the bite in the woods. So this Jayden was definitely not normal.
When Ludwig finally came back, I was able to banish my thoughts about the black-haired man from my head for a short time and concentrate on other things. "Just call me if you need anything." Ludwig carefully handed me a pair of gray jogging pants and a black T-shirt and quietly closed the door after leaving the room.
I took off the wet dress and slipped into the fragrant clothes, which immediately made me feel warm and secure. One look at the soft bed was enough and I dropped right in the middle, then covered myself up and had a good night's sleep.
It took a while for my thoughts to let go of me, but at some point I finally managed to fall asleep in peace, also thanks to the aquarium, which was splashing softly to itself.
Loud voices woke me up. It took me a moment to get used to the bright light in the room, but as soon as I did I jumped out of bed and ran excitedly to the door.
I only saw the open front door and heard Jayden and Ludwig's discussion, which apparently revolved around me. Curious and ready to protect Ludwig, I went to the front door and stood right in the door frame to get an idea of the situation.
The two faced each other on the sidewalk. The sun bounced down on them and yet it was freezing cold again. I noticed that even though I hadn't even left the house completely.
Ludwig still looked like he did tonight, but I saw Jayden differently. Something about him attracted me. I was only now noticing his perfect tan skin, shiny tousled black hair, and ice blue eyes that I felt took me in.
I stared at his chest muscles, which I could see clearly through the black tank top, and therefore didn't notice that someone was suddenly standing next to me. "Come with me, Chiara. What you are doing here is wrong."
My heart was racing as I locked eyes with Chace, who was standing right next to me. Samuel suddenly appeared to my left and I was about to back into the house when Chace grabbed my arm.
"DO NOT TOUCH HER!" I looked at Jayden and Ludwig in amazement, who were screaming the same thing at the same time and staring at each other in confusion.
"It's okay, it's okay." Looking at Jayden, Chace let go of me and took a step back while Samuel walked away completely and kept walking.
"You're coming with me, Chiara!" Jayden then turned to me and a sudden voice in my head said the same thing to me, which made me jump in shock. I widened my eyes in horror and was sure I had a psychosis or something and when Jayden approached me worried, I only saw how Ludwig missed him from the side.
