"Oh, I see you found a lot." Lisbeth held the door open for us and the three of us immediately ran to the dining table in the living room.
While she laid out glasses and cutlery on the table, I put my bags in the back corner and then took off my jacket. Chace obligingly pulled out a chair for me and then sat down next to me.
"Well then, tell me." She opened her little box with the chicken, which I had to admit smelled absolutely delicious. "There wasn't much going on. But tonight it will be more exciting." Chace winked at me in amusement and savored the first bite.
"What's up tonight?" my grandma asked, looking back and forth between me and him with interest. "We're going to the Wialtrama!" I answered her and waited for her reaction. She immediately met Chace's eyes intensely, and once again it seemed to me that she was having an internal conversation.
Only when her face became friendlier did she turn back to her food. "I haven't been there for ages. But this place never changes anyway. Please tell Rudi to pick you up if you drink alcohol!", she looked demandingly at Chace, who gave her a silent nod in reply .
"You know, Chiara. Chace is our best hunter. It doesn't matter whether it's ducks, rabbits or deer. He gets them all.", she interjected proudly, as if she wanted to make the brown-haired one attractive to me, but my thoughts were still with the mysterious blonde one pretty boy. "Really? That's really cool.", I smiled playfully and looked over at the hunter, who just smiled in humility.
"Lisbeth tends to exaggerate." Despite his brown skin you could clearly see the pink on his cheeks. He took his last fork of the really good tasting chicken and said goodbye to us for now. "I'll see you tonight then." He gave me a fleeting smile and was then escorted by Lili to the front door.
I was slowly starting to clean up the leftovers from our meal when Lili came back to the table with a tray that had biscuits and tea on it. "A little dessert." She said and we sat down together again.
"So. How do you like it so far?" She took a sip of her tea and waited impatiently for my answer. "It's really nice here and so quiet. It's just annoying to keep staring." I said, rolling my eyes. "Yes, I believe you. The people here have all lived here their whole lives and it's not often that someone new moves here. But that will pass.", she smiled and bit into one of the biscuits. "I hope so," I murmured, then got up after the last sip of tea to disappear upstairs and get some rest before the evening ahead.
Lying on the bed I put on my headphones and listened to quiet RnB music. On the one hand to get me in the mood, on the other hand to let my thoughts wander.
I was so excited because the people here were staring at me like an alien, but I hadn't gotten any attention before, so I was a little bit happy to be special in their eyes. Especially Ludwig's, who made my lips smile just thinking about him.
Completely absorbed by the music, I got up and danced happily across the carpet, which just felt fantastically soft under my feet and gave me a great feeling. I didn't care why my grandma had called me here. Where before only a small lonely dump called my home, I now lived with my favorite person in a beautiful house and could start from scratch.
I no longer had to be the woman who dropped out of school, who had no prospects or friends. Here I was able to reinvent myself and finally let go of all the shit that used to pull me down.
While dancing, I suddenly had such feelings of happiness that I didn't know whether it came from the music or the new impressions, but I didn't care either.
When my alarm clock said 8 p.m., I took my entire haul down to the bathroom and took a long shower. My grandma almost exclusively owned shampoos with a vanilla scent, which was fine with me because I liked the sweet scent. He made me feel familiar.
When I was done showering, I stood in front of the mirror and took a good look at myself before I started blow-drying my hair straight and putting on my make-up.
After it took longer than I thought to be happy with the way I looked, I looked at the clock and was annoyed because I only had 20 minutes to put together the perfect outfit.
I quickly rummaged around in the bags and was annoyed again. I actually didn't like to wear unwashed clothes, but I guess I didn't really have a choice. I settled on a black dress that looked sexy but not cheap, cute but not childish and was perfectly happy with my final look.
"Well, someone has made themselves pretty." My grandmother was amazed when I came into the living room and giggled and turned around in circles. "Thank you.", I gave her back proudly and already the doorbell rang.
This time I opened the door myself and was amazed at Chace's wardrobe. A truly manly black shirt that was 2 buttons undone, showing his muscles slightly. In addition, light jeans and white sneakers.
"Then have fun, two beauties.", Lisbeth suddenly stood behind me and smiled happily at both of us. "Don't you bring her back to me safely!", she finally looked at the brown-haired man urgently. "I promise it stays in one piece." He laughed and we ran to the car, which Rudi was driving.
"I've got something for us here." Chace winked at me as he held the back door of the car open for me and handed me a small bottle of bubbly after I got in. When he then slammed my door and Rudi greeted me in a friendly manner, the brown-haired man sat down next to me, closed his door and held out a bottle of beer to toast.
"Have a good evening!" I opened the champagne and toasted him with a grin. "Have a good evening!"
And the old Ford started moving.
