I saw the tears on her cheeks and the sparkle in her eyes. Surely she was blown away by the wedding. She looked so beautiful and I made my way to her.
"I'm pregnant," she breathed suddenly as I stood right in front of her, my knees getting so weak I thought I was going to fall over on the spot. "Are you serious?" I asked, clutching the back of a chair, my other hand on my heart to steady it. "Yes!" she said and then she threw herself firmly into my arms while my whole body was shaking.
Ludwig sat behind her at the table and nodded at me with a smile and that was the first time that I didn't wish this pretty boy anything bad, just the best.
I closed my eyes and only saw her. The murmuring of the people, the music, everything became quieter and quieter until I could only feel her heart beating on my chest and I almost cried. Who would have expected something like this? I couldn't believe my luck and hugged her even tighter, causing her to take a deep breath.
"I can't breathe," she breathed and I let go of her, shocked. "Sorry," I murmured, then settled into the chair next to Ludwig, who was kind enough to pour me a glass of whiskey. I drank it down with a trembling hand and put it back in front of him for him to refill, laughing.
"What's going on here?" Jayden said smiling, standing next to Jo and watching me trembling as I drank the glass. "You're going to be an uncle," my mate said to him and I saw the sparkle in his eyes.
"Oh my god, congratulations!" He took Jo in his arms and then excitedly came to me to pull me up by the arm and take me in his arms beaming. "You so deserve to be happy, my brother," he whispered in my ear, patting my back in a friendly manner.
"Our children will grow up together here, just like you and me." He pulled away from me, smiling so proudly that I couldn't help but let a few tears flow down my face with joy. "Our children?" came from Chiara, who appeared with Lou next to Jo and looked questioningly at Jayden.
She looked from him to me and then to Jo to roll her eyes and grin. "A little Ethan. That could be something," she laughed and took my mate in a friendly hug. "Let's just hope that it will be a little Josephine," said Lou, who gave Jo a grin and winked and then disappeared again, probably to look for Chace.
"I think we should celebrate now, our women with water, of course," laughed Jayden and took Chiara's hand to disappear onto the dance floor with her. I put my arm around Josephine's shoulder and followed my best friend to just dance happily and reunited with my family to the rhythm of the music.
As it got later and later, the women lined up to try their luck at catching the bride's bouquet.
Chiara stood on the stage with her back to us and counted out loud from 10 to 1 before throwing the bouquet.
It felt like slow motion as these flowers tied together flew through the air, and when I saw that it was my mate catching the bouquet wide-eyed, my heart skipped a few beats.
Everyone around me was clapping and it was Jayden who slapped my shoulder in celebration while Josephine walked towards me happier than ever.
"You and me against the rest of the world," she breathed and gave me a loving kiss that was just the foretaste of our future together.
"I love you, forever and ever."
