Bauer
Bauer POV
Chanel and I leave the roof. Well, technically she is not Chanel right now. Inanna is determined to get Jasmine out of this hotel quickly. There will be nowhere for her to run once Walker sinks his claws firmly into her. Sweet little Jasmine, how I wish you would have never come to work here. You should have run a long time ago. I was a fool.
“What are you going to do when we get to the eleventh floor? Have you thought about it at all Insanna?” I ask her.
She is known for her temper. I do not want her to start slaughtering people. There has to be a peaceful way to just leave. She acts like I was able to stop Jasmine and this is somehow my fault. I do hold some fault but not to this degree.
“I do not know exactly. Just be ready Bauer. Be ready to grab and run,” she says.
Great, she wants me to grab Jasmine again. Run out the door with her yet again. And finally, try to make it out of the hotel in the middle of all of this rain. Great! Sounds like a plan.
“And just where should I take her?” I ask.
Inanna stops. “Listen to me Bauer,” she grabs my face. “Are you listening to you,” she asks.
I push her hand away from my face. “Stop that shit. I am not one of your little minions. I am listening,” I say.
“I get it, Bauer. I understand you better than you even realize. I am not stupid you are in love with that girl. From the looks of it what I can see you have been for a very long time. You were just too stupid to act on it. Now we need to get her and get her far away from here,” she says.
I do not argue with her. My feelings for Jasmine have never been something I would act on. At least not until now. My feelings for her are not even relevant today. The only thing important today is getting her out of here.
“You know she could be under his spell when we get up there and she could fight you,” Inanna says.
“I know,” I respond.
“Bauer I do not care if you have to knock her ass out, grab her and get out of this hotel,” Inanna says.
She is right. I should not have stayed here. When we walked off of the eleventh floor I should have taken her as far as I could get her and then come back for Chanel or Inanna. Whatever. I fucked up. There is no going back now.
“Are you ready?” Inanna asks.
“I am ready as I can possibly be,” I say.
We get on the elevator. I swipe the key. I hit the button for eleven. The elevator starts moving. I feel as if I am marching to my death.
Inanna is not nervous at all. Of course, no one can hurt her. She is a god. I am just a demi-god caught up in all of this. Fuck.
The elevator stops on the eleventh floor. I swear I hope this is the last time I ever come to this floor for any reason. Nothing good comes of it.
As we approach the security guard he looks at me up and down. I am waiting for him to say something.
“Passcode?” he says.
“1119” I respond.
“You may enter,” he says.
You know the other guard did not ask. I wonder why this one. Fuck I do not care. I need to find Jasmine. The room is still full of pets and patrons. The room smells of sex and bad decisions. I want out of here myself.
Inanna walks behind me. She is watching and waiting for Walker or Raymond to make their move. I hope they are not stupid enough to fuck with her. Why anyone would fuck with someone as high ranking as her is beyond me. But I am sure my brothers will try.
I spot Walker coming out of a room. I do not see Raymond. I will leave him to Inanna. As Walker turns to head toward the bar I duck down and wait for him to pass. I need to get to her. I know he will see me when I leave, but I need just long enough to grab her.
Inanna goes in her own direction. I walk slowly but with a purpose to the room, I am sure Jasmine is in. I get closer watching for Walker. He seems to be occupied at the bar. He is probably trying to find someone else to bend to his will for his guilty pleasure.
I grab the knob and turn it slowly. Jasmine is lying in the bed with two other women. All three sound asleep. I do not want to startle the others and cause a panic. I remain quiet as I approach the bed.
I gently reach for Jasmine. “Jasmine,” I whisper softly.
She does not move. She continues to sleep.
“You should have left with her when you had the chance, Bauer,” Walker says.
I turn to see Walker standing at the door.
“She does not deserve this Walker. You have so many women. Let me take her away from here,” I beg him.
“Okay, if she wants to leave she can,” he says.
“What did you do to her?” I ask.
“Oh brother, you should have gotten a taste of her when you had the chance,” Walker says.
He cackles as he leaves the room. Oh Jasmine you have to wake up and leave with me. I shake her again. He fed her the fucking flower.
