Chapter 32: What Am I Going To Do?

“How are you feeling this morning baby?” I cock my head and ask her softly while lying next to her on the bed.

She barely opens her eyes as I run my fingers through her silky hair before she answers, “I have been better. Honestly, if you keep that up, I am going to fall back asleep. It feels so good.” She almost whispers and smiles before struggling to sit up.

“Let me help you.” I say while I place my hand behind her back and watch her sit up to look at me with a questioning look on her pale face.

Stretching, her bones creak and then she opens her eyes wide and says, “I feel fat.” When she looks at me with a frown looming on those sensuous lips of hers.

How could she feel fat? When she is always gorgeous in my mind. I love her and nothing will change that. Even when she becomes the size of a beached whale.

Just thinking that, makes me laugh and then she glares at me before asking, “What was that for? Are you laughing at me now because I feel fat?” Pouting the whole time, she is saying it.

“Nooo. I was just thinking that you are gorgeous to me, and you will always be. Even when you become the size of a beached whale.” I start to laugh again, but then she punches me in the stomach, forcing me to rethink this whole thing.

Glaring at me now, she grows silent and then suddenly climbs out of bed to run to the bathroom. I yell after her, “Are you alright, my love?”

I hear her reply after a few seconds, “Yes, I had to pee.”

Watching her walk out of the bathroom with a smirk on her face, I can’t help but laugh again. She stops and places her hands on her hips before pouting and asking, “Now what?”

“It was just really cute that you sounded like a three-year-old when you said I had to pee.” Still laughing, I fight to stop before she might get mad and storms out.

“Alright. Can we go to breakfast as soon as I get something on? I am absolutely famished right now. These little guys in here are wearing me thin.” She says as she points to her stomach which is growing more and more every day.

It is just amazing that every time I look at it, it looks so much bigger. They must be really growing fast in there. I think it is a bit odd though because they are half human. So, wouldn’t they be smaller and grow slower?

All I know is the doctor said they are growing wonderfully and that in another few days we should be able to tell their sexes. That pleases me so much that just thinking about it makes me smile. When she sees my Cheshire smile, she asks curiously, “What are you smiling like that for? Did I do something that amuses you?”

“Nope.” I become quiet and stuff my hands in my pants before I stick my foot in any further.

After getting dressed, she turns around and asks, “Alright, I will bite. What is it?”

Hesitating, I stand up and start to head for the door and then she grabs ahold of my forearm. I glance at her and then she says, “Tell me.”

“It’s just that in a couple days we can find out the sex of the pups and I am really excited. I have never been a dad before. I guess this is what everyone feels when they are just about to find out. Aren’t you?” I shrug and then open the door for her.

When I turn around, she stares at me with a weird look on her face that I can’t place. Then she answers, “I am scared. They have been growing so fast. I hope there isn’t something wrong because they are hybrids and honestly, I don’t even know if they come out the same way or if the doc will have to do a c-section.” The worry on her face is evident now and I feel kind of bad that I didn’t realize it earlier.

“Well, we can ask him after breakfast. We can take a trip over there and find out for ourselves, so you don’t have to worry anymore. Does that sound like a plan?” I cock my head unintentionally, while I stare at her.

As I wait for an answer, she walks past me and out the door. Once I shut it, she becomes quiet for a few moments and then finally says, “Yes. It does.” As she sighs quietly.

After eating breakfast, we walk over to the hospital and wait patiently for the doctor to arrive. While we do, I pace the room that the nurse placed us in till he got a chance to have a conference with us. Arabella starts to shake her head when she sees me constantly walking back and forth, and then she says, “You need to settle down. You remind me of a caged tiger.”

Sitting down, we wait for a minute longer and then he finally opens the door. I stand up immediately and take his hand. “Doc. Arabella and I are worried that the pups are growing so fast. Can you look and see if everything is alright? We are concerned because they are hybrids, that they may have problems with them.”

He nods in understanding and then says, “Well, Arabella lie down, and we shall take a look then.”

I watch him pull out the ultrasound handheld machine and the wand with jelly. It always makes me nervous because it reminds me of the vibrator, I had Arabella use our first night together as mates. “Let me warm up the jelly first. Otherwise, it will be really cold for you, and we don’t want the pups jumping everywhere just yet.” He smiles with confidence before he places the wand on her stomach and starts to look at the screen.

When he glances at it, he makes a strange sound and then he turns to look at Arabella’s stomach quickly with worry on his face. Right away, I ask, “What is the matter?”

“Nothing really. They are just twice the size they were 3 days ago, and they shouldn’t be growing this fast. Not to mention, because they are human hybrids they should be growing slower not twice as fast as our kind. This is quite puzzling. I am going to have to do further investigation.” His voice trails off as he stares at something more closely on the screen before continuing, “Wait a minute. There are 2 more pups here then I seen before. They must have been hiding behind the others. How interesting.” He says almost in a whisper.

Turning to Arabella, he raises his voice a little and says, “My dear, you are the proud mother of 6 beautiful pups not 4.” Shocked, Arabella closes her eyes, but not before I see the worry creep up in them.

She opens them again and a tear escapes the corner of her eye before I can wipe it away and then she asks in a worried tone, “Will I be O.K., and will I need a c-section or something?”

Quickly the doctor tries to quell her concerns by stating, “Yes, of course my dear and no you shouldn’t have to. Usually our kind come out quickly, but that is in one of our kind. If necessary, there is always that option. However, I will only use it as a last resort.”

I watch as he wipes the jelly off her skin before he says, “Go ahead now. You should be fine. If you are still worried in a couple days, come back and we can check the sex by then too.” Smiling, he turns his back to write something down and then he leaves the room for a few minutes so Arabella can clean herself.

After we leave the hospital, we go back to our room where Arabella lies down because she is worn out just by the little that we did. As I start to worry about her more and more. I begin to wonder if I should have mated with her or not.
