Chapter 52: Did She Make It?

The minute the doctor walks back in, the nurse follows with another bed to wheel her away into the operating room. I watch as Arabella wakes up for a brief second and then smiles at me, before closing her eyes again. Not wanting to let go of her hand, I finally give in and release it while kissing her lips lovingly.

A thought occurred to me that scarred me so much, I had second thoughts about her surgery. “What if the doctor and the nurse are in on it? What if she doesn’t live or the pups?” So many things could go wrong, and we have barely had any time with each other.

“Stop.” I demand before looking the doctor in the face and warning, “If she doesn’t make it out of this, you will be to blame, and I will make sure that you spend the rest of your life in misery and pain for it. So, watch it.”

“I understand, but you have no worries. She will be fine, I guarantee it.” He produces a fake smile before wheeling her off to the operating room.

Sitting outside in the waiting room, I worry about so many things that I have no control over. When it happens, I turn around quickly and jump to my feet. “Hurry, I know who is to blame.” Omega Roger walks up behind me and whispers so no one else can hear.

Following him to an empty room, I take a better look at his clothes. He is wearing an orderly’s outfit and the name tag is not his. I decide it is best to not ask but to just listen, when I wonder to myself, why he is wearing someone else’s things.

“Alpha Andrei is to blame. He is intending to take over the throne as soon as Arabella and the pups are dead. He knows that if they die, you will fall apart and not be strong enough to fight him when he tries.”

While cocking my head, I listen even closer as he whispers, “They are intending on interrupting the surgery and killing everyone in the operating room, so you must hurry.”

Not even waiting for him to finish, I rush out of the room while slamming the door behind me. Running to the back of the hospital where the operating rooms are, I see an advancing group of Rogues who must have come in the back exit and are now in front of me. Stopping a few feet from the operating room, I halt their progress and yell at the top of my lungs, “Don’t even fucking try it! If you do, the last thing you will ever see is my face when I rip your heads off.”

They smile gleefully and then the one in the front raises his hand and closes his fist. When they rush me, my wolf takes over happily, and I watch as he shreds them in a million pieces. The first one he lunges at and bites the throat out of. The second one gives him a little trouble, but in the end after the claws fly and blood spills, the rogue lies on the floor with his entrails all over.

The third one, runs off when he sees that the first two are torn apart so violently, so I chase after him and spin his head in a 360. Hearing silence fall upon the hallway, I regain control and then call the guards. As I sit there and think about what just happened, I wonder to myself “Where were the guards when all this was going on? Surely someone heard the commotion and would have alerted them? I was busy or I could have called them.”

Scanning the area to make sure there are not even one still hanging around, I stand patiently just outside the operating doors to wait for them to get done. When I hear the cries of pups, I know that everything is going well and relax for the moment. Hearing another one cry out, I smile and then start to laugh, “My pups are strong and have big mouths. Great.”

Just shortly afterwards, the doctor walks out and smiles with a smile that is spread clear across his face. You have 6 brand new pups, and they are all healthy. Congratulations, my king you are a dad now.” He smacks my back and then gives me a hug before continuing, “I will let Arabella tell you, their sexes. Have the two of you come up with names for them yet?”

“No, with everything going on we hadn’t had a chance. Plus, I think she was hoping that seeing their faces would give her inspiration.” I stare at him deliriously happy, with a Cheshire Cat smile on my face.

“Good, good. Well, I won’t hold you back if you want to go in and see her before they take her back to her room.” He gestures for me to walk in and see them all.

“Thank you.” I glance from the doctor to the room and then back before I shake his hand and walk right in.

When I get in the room, I hear many pups crying loudly. Lying there on the bed, Arabella is sitting while smiling. I am just glad that today went better than I thought it would.

Hearing the door open, she glances over at me and then smiles a beautiful smile. It is a once in a lifetime smile that only first-time mothers have, and I am just glad that I can share in this moment with her. When she looks up into my eyes and stares, I lean down and kiss her with such happiness of a man in love. In love with the only woman I could ever love, the mother of my pups.

After I break the kiss off and stand up, she clears her throat and asks, “We have 6 pups, 3 boys and 3 girls, isn’t that wonderful?” She stares at me waiting for my approval.

I repeat slowly, “3 boys and 3 girls?”

Nodding, she smiles so bright that her dimples show for the first time since I have known her. So much so, that I must lean down and kiss them on both sides of her face. She giggles and then I whisper, “If you hadn’t just given birth, I would be making love to you right now.”

When her face reddens and she says, “Oh my.” I know that she was thinking the exact same thing.

“Now for the naming.” She says before her voice trails off, while in deep thought.
