Chapter 140 Bloodbath
Nikolai
"You are not going to come anywhere near my daughter, pup," Orlando snarled at Dimitri, his eyes turning red as he pulled his daughter behind him, hiding her from Dimitri's view who growled at that. "I have not sacrificed my own beloved only for you to steal my pure daughter and ruin the prophecy." Did he actually choose another female over his own mate so that his daughter could be of pure breed and she could complete the prophecy? What a fucking idiot.
"Father, I —"
"Quiet, girl." He snapped at his daughter, making her flinch. I could feel Dimitri's anger. It was almost tangible. And if she was Dimitri's mate, she was family. And we take care of our family. No one was going to harm her under our protection.
"We have made far too many sacrifices for this prophecy, Nikolai. You need to reject Avalyn. You need to mate Althea." Viktor said. "There is no other way."
"If the Moon Goddess wanted us to mate, she would have made her my mate instead of Avalyn. But that is not the case. Althea is Dimitri's mate. And since that is Moon Goddess's wish, that is exactly what will happen."
"You fool! All of this is happening against the Moon Goddess's wish! She is helpless without God Sol's light of direction. If things happened according to her wish, why would she choose to be apart from her mate? Cross breeding is also a mistake! So many vampires simply kill themselves just because their werewolf mates die of old age. Do you think that is correct?" Orlando asked.
It wasn't correct...
"I don't give two fucks. Althea is mine," Dimitri darted towards them.
'Stop, we need more information,' I told him through the mind link. 'Keep patience, you will get her.'
'Okay,' he replied, his voice tense.
"The Moon Goddess does not need mine, yours or God Sol's help to do anything. She is a Goddess and whatever she chooses, we accept." I replied, meaning each word.
"The Moon Goddess is a female. And no matter how modern you become or how much of a feminist you are, you cannot deny nature. Males are the ones who are biologically stronger, the ones who provide and protect. Females are the ones who produce." Orlando said.
Max asked drily, "which century do you fucking live in?"
"Make fun of it as much as you want but it is true," he said. "If you take the time to notice the world around you, you will see it. The Moon does not have light of its own, it reflects the light of the Sun. She glows under the light of the sun, under the direction of the Sun and the part that the Sun's rays don't touch remains dark. Moon revolves around the earth but ultimately it revolves around the Sun. It is because of the Sun that Jivan exists in the first place! God Sol is the reason Jivan exists! Even in the thousands of stories of God Sol and Goddess Luna, it was always said that God Sol ruled Jivan with an iron fist. And him, being the embodiment of fire, had a nasty temper. Goddess Luna, who had affinity with water, was the only one who could cool him down. Both definitely needed each other to maintain peace, but God Sol had always been the one who played a major role in ruling Jivan. A woman cannot rule alone."
"Cleopatra, Zenobia, Laxmibai, Joan of Arc, Borte Ujin, Wu Zetian and Maria Theresa beg to differ," Max commented.
"They are humans who can barely control a couple of countries. We are talking about an entire dimension here! About all life forms that exist in the entire universe!" Victor burst. "You must reject Avalyn and mate with Althea."
"She has been trained all her life to be a perfect Queen. In every way. You will not be disappointed. She has known that she has to serve you ever since she was born, she has been taught proper ladylike social etiquette, given lessons in dancing, singing, knitting, numerous musical instruments, cooking, even cleaning, maintaining the house staff, training slaves, handing just punishments, serving her mate—you, in any way he pleases, even sexually. And she's a virgin, yours for breaki—" Dimitri's loud growl broke Orlando from insulting his daughter any further.
"Avalyn is my mate and my Queen," I said slowly, making sure it passed through their thick skulls.
"Althea!" Orlando snapped and Althea took small measured steps forward before she took off her white dress, revealing her naked form and kneeled. Ignoring Dimitri, she faced me and tilted her neck, exposing it as an offer for me to mark her.
I turned to look at Dimitri and saw that he had a heartbroken expression on his face, his eyes unable to leave his mate.
"Prince Nikolai, please accept me as—" Dimitri's eyes turned black at his mate's words and in the next second, Althea was standing in Dimitri's arms and his teeth had sunk into her neck, marking her as his.
Orlando let out a loud snarl and ran towards my brother.
Max was quick to zip towards Orlando and pin him against a pillar.
I stood up and walked down the steps, "I don't care what you think. I believe in the Moon Goddess and everything will happen according to her will. And as for the prophecy, Avalyn is my mate and I don't care if it comes to fruition or not. You are not greater than the Moon Goddess to play God with innocent lives like Althea."
"You will regret this, pup," Orlando's eyes flashed red as he glared at Dimitri but Max had a firm hold on the old man. He wasn't escaping.
"I don't do well with threats." Dimitri hissed, making his mate wear his t-shirt, who did so without a word. "Another fucking word about Althea and Nikolai, and I will rip your tongue out."
"Tell us where Adrik is and we will be on our way." Max said.
They exchanged glances again.
"We know that you know where he is. You helped him form the army of zombie witches. You provided him with the jet and the bombs. Tell us where the fuck he is!" I roared.
"We don't know." Yolanda said, her face impassive and her eyes holding determination.
"Was it fun?" I asked, deciding to target her instead.
"What?"
"Changing the funeral rituals from burning the dead ones to burying them? To kidnap so many witches, putting them under the influence of black magic on them and then killing them?"
Her eyes widened at the accusation before they narrowed, "I had no hand in that!"
"Lies!" I snarled. "You are the strongest witch of Jivan. You are the one who has the most influence over them and the power to do magic on all of them. You disgust me. You talk about saving lives but here you are, sacrificing them for a self proclaimed 'King'."
"I speak nothing but the truth." She said and I could easily sense the lie again. I could also sense the change in the demeanor when I mentioned Adrik. It made me realise that there was possibility that there was something between the two. He would have held some power over her for her to do so much for him. And from the flare of her eyes...I had an idea of what it was.
I walked towards her and made my blood hum, imposing my full dominance over her. "Did you sell your soul upon his command? Did he want you to look younger so that he could even bear to look at your face while he fucked you?"
She gulped and took a step back. I took a step forward. I was right. They were fuck buddies.
"Was fucking him enough to make you sell your soul? Was having him for a few nights worth it?" I goaded. "It should be. You got a purebred, strong werewolf all to yourself right? Isn't that why you always helped him? Isn't that why-
Her eyes grew teary, "I didn't get him, Miranda did!"
"Miranda?"
Her eyes widened and she cupped her mouth, "oh no."
"Who the fuck is Miranda?" I asked.
"Miranda is Yolanda's older sister. She was the Elder before Yolanda." Viktor replied. "She was the one who changed the cremation ritual and ideated the creation of zombie witches. So if you want to accuse someone of that, it should be her and not Yolanda."
"But you still know where he is, don't you?" I kept my focus on Yolanda. I knew I could crack her. This old woman was bat shit crazy and that crazy would crack. "You can find your sister, can't you?"
Her eyes widened comically, "she's dead! She couldn't satisfy Adrik like I could! She mad—"
"Yolanda!" Orlando snarled, stopping her from saying anything else.
And then without our realisation, Viktor had gotten close to Max and Orlando. He punched Max, making him stumble back and freeing Orlando.
And the next moment, both my brothers began choking.
"Althea, reject Dimitri right now!" Orlando snapped at his daughter and Dimitri let out a mix of a growl and a wheeze.
Her eyes grew teary but she followed her father's command anyways, "I, Althe—"
Fuck no!
I ran to her and covered her mouth with my hand, stopping her from speaking anything.
"Nikolai, reject Avalyn or your brothers die." Viktor said, narrowing his eyes at me.
And then suddenly both of them collapsed, clutching their throats as they began choking to death.
"Say the words, Nikolai," Yolanda said, her eyes wild, "say it or they die."
"News flash, I have powers too." I extended my hand and opened my fist, pulling all the air they had in her body and then closed it, keeping her life in the palm of my hand. She coughed before she swayed on her feet and collapsed on the floor. Dimitri and Max immediately started taking in large gulps of oxygen. I looked at my brothers. Their faces had turned red but they nodded. They were fine.
I released Althea from my hold and Dimitri was there in an instant to make sure that she wouldn't try to reject him again.
I let Yolanda suffer a little before returning a little air back to her, just enough for her to gain her consciousness but not enough for her to stand on her own feet or use her powers. "Try that again and I will fucking burn you alive." I hissed.
Her teary eyes met mine, "we all are going to die anyways! Reject her!" She coughed.
"Use your logic, Nikolai." Viktor said. "I sacrificed my daughter for this. You can sacrifice your mate too!"
"Never!" I thundered, furious that they were serious about it and willing to abuse power for it. "Just because you are a pathetic excuse of a father, it does not mean that I will hurt my mate!"
"Nik—" Orlando started but I cut him off.
"Where the fuck is Adrik?" I hissed. "This is your last chance before I kill all of you."
Yolanda had the audacity to smirk, "you will never be able to find him."
I strode over to her, picked her up by her throat to my eye level and shook her frail little body, "where is he?" I growled in her face.
She coughed and spat on my face. I closed my eyes, took a deep breath before opening it again, "Where. Is. He?" I gritted.
The old hag began laughing loudly. "He promised me that would bring you to us if Miranda went with him."
"Where is he?" I gritted and tightened my hold and she coughed again.
"God knows," she managed a grin. "He brought you yo us. He's our partner. And we don't betray our partners. A deal is a deal."
I snapped her neck and tossed her body away.
Althea shrieked loudly but I ignored it. I had more important things to do. I removed a handkerchief from my pocket and wiped the fucking spit from my face. Fucking fanatic old bat.
I turned towards Viktor next who was looking at Yolanda with wide eyes before he met my eyes and he calmed himself. I walked over the body and went over to him. Max grabbed his neck and rattled him, "where is he?"
"I don't know," he replied. Damn him. He was saying the truth!
"Then what do you know?" I menaced.
And then a searing pain shot through my side. Ah fuck. I gripped my side and realised that someone had impaled a knife.
I looked up to see Orlando.
"Why is he still conscious?" He snapped at Viktor, looking restless, "she said he would faint!"
Anger surged through me. These are the elders? Conniving to separate mates for some misplaced prophecy? Sacrificing multiple bonds and lives. There were the 'jewels of our society'? Who wants such jewels?
"Let me guess," I hissed as I pulled out the knife. It was definitely some magical knife. I felt like my insides were on fire. A normal knife doesn't hurt this much. Or does a silver knife of a knife laced with wolfsbane. I knew. "Magic does not work on me."
He took out another similar knife, ready to stab me unconscious again. Oh hell no. "You need to reje—" I slit his throat before he could finish his sentence.
I heard a distant scream but I was angry. I knew it was from Althea but Dimitri was handling her. And she was better off without him. I stalked over to Viktor and Max tossed him on the floor.
I stalked towards him as he backed away. "What do you know about Adrik?" I snarled.
There was pure fear on his face. What a coward. He wasn't even trying to defend himself. He wasn't even trying to fight me. "You will never be able to find him." He said in his moment of bravery.
I snarled and walked closer before I grabbed his long hair and made himlook at me in the eye. "The only reason you are alive is because you are my mother's father. But you aren't worthy of her." I hissed. "You gave her away to Adrik, knowing the kind of monster he was. You have no idea what kind of hell she has suffered in his hands," I snarled in his face. My wolf was on the surface and he wanted his blood. I promised him, soon. "And then you tossed her away when she came to you for help. After that, you had the audacity to punish us for defending her honour and then threw us in a cell."
He was looking at me with terrified eyes. "Help!" He screamed. "Help!"
"Guess what? I am the King of Air. And sound travels through air." I smirked when understanding dawned in his eyes. "No sound will travel out of this room."
Pure terror filled his eyes and a grin formed on my face. "Scream all you want. Goddess knows your daughter has because of you."
"I had to do it! It wasn't my fault! It needed to be done!"
"Is that what you tell yourself so that you can sleep at night?" I tossed him away, his head banged against the cold tiled floor.
His eyes grew hazy.
"That house was our own version of hell!" I screamed. If he hadn't made Mom mate with Adrik, she would have had a much better life! And Goddess knows she deserved it. I didn't care that I wouldn't have been born. Mom didn't deserve the kind of life she lived. She deserved to live a happy life. And now she is dead. And this man is the one who sent her to hell.
I grabbed his long hair and started pulling him out of the room, dragging his entire form with me.
Max had a grin on his face as he opened the doors for me.
Viktor screamed and thrashed but I didn't loosen my hold. He clawed at my hand and drew blood, but I didn't care.
The enforcers tried to attack us, to help Viktor but Max killed anybody who came near us.
"Help!" Viktor screamed as he clawed at my hand, "help me!"
I hissed at the burn as I dragged him out of the palace, dragging him on his ass as he tried to hold things here and there so I couldn't be able to pull him. But his old body was no match for my raw power.
When we reached the main entrance, General Jonathan turned around and looked at us with wide eyes, "what did yo—" Max bit into his neck and tore his head before he could even finish his sentence. He licked his bloody lips, "I've always wanted to do that." He grinned.
I smirked back as I pulled Viktor in a standing position and held his arm and Max held on to his other arm, holding him firmly in position.
"I know this wasn't our plan, but it needs to be done. Do the honours." Max said with a dark grin.
I brought my wolf forward as I looked at my army standing in front of me and the enforcers who had surrounded them who were looking at us and Viktor in shock.
I growled loudly.
And then chaos erupted.
Viktor watched in horror as my army started slaughtering his army. The enforcers tried to keep a brave face and defend themselves but they were no match for the wild Rogue army, the coordinated Montana army and the relentless Neos army. He thrashed in our hold as he watched his entire army being brutally murdered.
And when they were all dead and the ground was nothing but a bloody mess, I looked at him. His eyes were filled with tears and his face was full of agony. My favourite combination.
"The hell that you saw today was nothing compared to the one you sent your daughter to. I would ask you to give her my regards but I'm pretty sure heaven is not where you are headed." I told him.
He began shaking his head, unable to form words.
"Since Adrik and you are partners, I will make sure that you remain partners in the afterlife too. Wait for him in hell, Viktor, he shall be joining you soon. I have made it my cause to chase him to the ends of Jivan and kill him."
His eyes widened in horror as he watched me plunge my hand in his chest and rip his heart out.
'Nikolai, Heath and I have found Adrik. We need to go to Russia right away.' Mikhail mind-linked Dimitri, Max and I.
