Chapter 170 Death
Nikolai
I tasted the salty taste of tears before I felt something soft of my lips. A kiss. A kiss of life.
Avalyn.
Luna.
A lifetime of memories flashed in front of my eyes. This was it. This was our chance to rewrite history and be together again.
It has been several millennia since I had a winning chance to make everything write again.
Werewolves, witches and vampires were united. Fayes too now—considering Faelern and Fiyona's support.
Regardless of everything, the people were satisfied with their lives. They were happy, even. The Kingdom was thriving. We had proved to be more than competent to rule the Kingdom—together and independently.
I had my powers of fire and air.
She had her powers of water and health.
Our children were good kids who listened to us and didn't constantly fight with each other.
Avalyn and I just needed to reunite. I needed to mark her and make her mine again.
I raised my hand and grasped her head, kissing her properly.
She gasped before releasing me. "You're alive." The tears that filled her eyes escaped.
Her face was hovering over mine and all I could see was her. She was all I wanted to see.
"If you thought that I'd leave you for the second time—in the same lifetime, think again." I covered her hand that was on my cheek. "You're mine, Avalyn." I rasped.
"I'm yours." She nodded wiping her tears.
I heard a growl and I was up in a flash. I covered Ava from Adrik's sight.
Valerie, Fiyona and Faelern had formed a golden circle around him and he was looking at them and me with hatred.
"How long will you hold me in for? Your powers will drain soon and then I will kill you all." He growled. "Starting with you." He snarled at me. "And I'll do it properly this time. I've heard that third time's a charm."
"How do I kill him, Mom?" My body started charging with energy.
So much that I started vibrating. I wanted to release it all. It was begging to come out of my body.
"Contrary to popular belief, Adrik is not immortal." She spat. "He wanted to become as close to immortal as it gets."
"He can neither be killed by animal nor man, neither during the day nor at night, neither indoors nor outdoors, neither on land, nor in the air nor in water, neither by his weapon nor someone else's. He cannot die in a combat." Mom replied. "Neither his family not his foes can kill him."
Good thing I'm a family who is also a foe.
"Everyone step behind. Release him." I ordered, looking at Adrik, a plan already forming in my mind.
"Nikolai!" Avalyn clutched my arm. "It's not safe. Please. How will you kill him?"
"Trust me." I looked at her.
She met my eyes before she nodded and stepped away.
Everyone gave us a wide birth.
I nodded at the fayes.
They too stepped behind before they stopped using the powers and the circle disappeared.
Adrik stood in his place, looking at me arrogantly. "I am immortal."
"No you are not." I replied and circled around him so I was in the perfect angle.
I will get him to where I want him.
"You cannot kill me." He turned to face me.
"Time will tell." I stepped forward and he stood in his place.
Energy started flowing out from my body.
The tight control that I had on it, the lid I used to put on it— I opened it.
I unleashed my full potential.
In a split second, every single person was on their knees.
Including Faelern.
All, except Ava.
She was looking at me with concern and worry, her hand over her heart.
I looked at the fear build up on Adrik's face when be realised what he is exactly facing.
"What is this?" He hissed, his eyes turning black. His wolf was at the forefront. He was intimidated.
I continued walking towards him.
And he started taking steps backwards. Away from me.
He can be killed neither by animal nor human.
With more control over myself than I have ever exercised, I shifted half way. Half animal, half human.
My eye sight got better. It was night time and the sun would rise in a couple of minutes. My hearing got sharper. My smelling capacity got better. My height increased and I felt even more energy flow through my veins. My hands were half claws too.
I was neither animal nor man.
I stalked towards him.
He kept staring at me with wide eyes.
He can be killed neither during the day, nor night.
The sun was shining bright.
"Love," I called Ava, keeping my eyes on Adrik.
"Yes, Nikolai?" Avalyn replied instantly.
"It is your time to remember who you are, Luna. It is time to become who you are," I said and light myself up on fire, embodying who I was. "Face me. Absorb my light, my Love."
Adrik's eyes widened in fear. "What kind of sorcery is this?"
I could feel the silver glow Ava's skin radiated. It was the moon's glow—Luna's glow. "Very good. Now keep facing me and rise up in the sky. Cover the sun," I instructed.
"Yes, Soare," Luna whispered. I could feel the slight wind that her wings generated as she flew high up in the sky till she covered the light emanated from the sun and it looked like it was night time.
But it was an eclipse.
The sun was shining and so is my Moon.
It is neither day, nor night.
I stalked further and he walked backwards. His leg hit the steps of the house and he fell on the stairs.
I reached for him, grasped his throat and raised him in the air.
He clawed at my arm, his eyes widened as he tried to free himself from my hold. I didn't feel a single thing.
He can be killed neither indoors nor outdoors.
We were on the steps of the house— it was neither indoors, nor outdoors.
He can be killed neither on land, nor in the air nor in water.
I took a seat on the steps and pulled him over my lap.
He was now neither in air or on land.
He can be killed neither by his weapon nor someone else's.
I took out the dagger that Adrian had stolen from him years ago. It didn't belong to Adrik, not anymore and neither did it truly belong to anyone else.
He cannot be killed in a combat.
There was no combat.
This motherfucker hadn't even fought back.
I tightened my hold on his neck and squeezed.
Neither his family nor his foes can kill him.
Good thing I'm family who is also a foe. And that we don't consider each other as a family.
I met his eye.
His blurry eyed met mine.
We both knew it was his end now.
"I heard you didn't train properly today!" Dad backhanded me and I fell on the floor.
"Adrik! He is five!" Mom clutched his arm, trying to stop him.
"He needs to learn how to be an Alpha. You cannot slack on training!" He pushed her and her head crashed against the glass coffee table.
She was bleeding.
"Mom!" I ran to her.
He caught me from the back of my neck. "Go train again if you want to see your mother."
I dug the dagger in his chest but kept the blade just millimetres away from his heart.
His blood sprayed on my face.
"I finished training properly this time, Dad!" I opened their bedroom door. I wanted to see Mom. I wanted to help her apply her band-aid like she usually helps me.
"How many times do I have to tell you to not interfere in my business?" Dad growled.
I saw tangled legs on the bed but their bed was high and the blanket was blocking my vision of mom.
"I'm sorry!" Mom cried. "Please stop. You're hurting me."
I heard the slapping of skin. And I stumbled back.
"I'm want to hurt you so bad." And then I heard a smacking sound.
I covered my ears and ran out.
Even being a small boy, I knew that something was deeply wrong with what I saw.
I stopped going to their bedroom after that.
But I kept seeing them like that frequently. All over the house. And Mom always told Dad to stop whatever he was doing.
He never did...
I dug the dagger in his chest again, licking the blood on my lips.
I dug my fingers in the little hole I had created and then shoved my fist in before I stretched my fingers open.
His scream was music to my ears and the sound of blood gushing out along with the ribs breaking was so satisfying.
I pushed my hand further down and pulled out his intestines.
Blood gushed out of his mouth and ears and nose.
I could literally hear his blood flowing out. I could see the life drain out of his eyes.
I shoved my hand in again and then held his heart in the palm of my hand. "Remember this face, the last face you see before your death. Let this face haunt you in your afterlife too."
His eyes started drooping.
I crushed his heart inside his body.
I saw the life leave his body.
I was breathing hard as I pulled my hand out again.
It took me two long decades to do this.
It felt damn satisfying.
I pushed his body over and and stood up.
I phased back into my skin as I walked outside.
I looked up and saw Ava in the sky, looking at me with teary eyes and a smile on her face.
I smiled back.
Avalyn slowly lowered herself back to the ground and then she was running towards me.
She jumped and I caught her in my arms and her legs went around my waist. I hugged her tightly.
I breathed in the scent of her. My nose was exactly at the juncture of her neck.
I'm fucking obsessed with it.
My canines elongated and I didn't hold back as I bit deep into her neck, marking her for the rest of my life.
A scream released her mouth before she bit into my neck too.
It stung a little as I felt her being getting mixed into my system. I felt her soul reunite with mine.
The mating wasn't complete though.
Sadly.
I finally pulled my teeth out and she did the same. I placed her on the ground, grabbed her face and then kissed the crap out of her.
When she finally pulled back, we looked around to see each and every person kneeling in front of us.
"Soare Luna." A person whispered in awe.
"Soare Luna." Another person whispered.
"Soare Luna." Everyone spoke again before they began chanting our names.
I looked at Ava and both of us smiled knowingly.
Our names will always be taken together. We were finally reunited.
Everything happens for a reason. And we went through everything we did so that we could be together. Or else, our souls were destined to be separated. Had we not gone through everything we went through we might not have rewritten our history—which we did unknowingly, but we did and that was what mattered. Because that was what allowed us to break our curse.
"Rise," I announced and everyone stood up, looking at us in a new light and with a revered look. The royal order was definitely restored too.
The love in her eyes slowly turned into a sensual look. The heat in her eyes flared up. We had a millennia to catch up to. "Get ready to not sit for a long time, Moya Lyubov."
"Why would Mamma not sit for a long time, Dadda?" Tori asked.
I didn't know what to say.
I heard a couple of muffled chuckles in the background.
"Because there is a lot of work I might have to stand for, sweetie." Avalyn replied and extended her arms to hug our daughter.
Tori scooted behind. "You both are dirty. Shower first and then hugs and kisses okay?"
I chuckled. "Okay."
