Charlie
"So anyways yeah I fell and I hit my head so hard, but I couldn't even cry I was just embarrassed," Kenny said laughing and I was joining him.
We were in one of the lounge rooms sharing our weirdest memories of each other and our embarrassing moments and just enjoying each other's company.
"What did your mom do?" I asked him.
"What all moms do. Started freaking out and kissed me all over my face. I of course pulled away and told her I am 21 and I don't need her kissing me to make me feel better."
"But did you?" I asked him.
"Yeah, I did. But I couldn't let her know that. I wouldn't hear the end of it."
I laughed along with him and we just stared at each other. Why was it so easy for me to be with him? Shouldn't I be more resistant to it? Was it because my wolf was quiet? I don't talk to her much but I wonder if that's why I am so detached.
"I enjoy spending time with you," Kenny said randomly and grabbed my hand.
"I haven't been with someone this easily before and it scares me honestly."
"I hope I'm not being too hasty, please tell me if I am. but would you want to go on a date? I mean I completely understand if you say no. Because I know you haven't fully rejected Tyler, and I don't know how you feel about me. I could be completely misreading the situation and looking for something that's not there."
I knew if I didn't stop him he would keep rambling on and on so I grabbed his face and turned him to me. His bright eyes met my dark ones.
"Yes, Kenny. I think a date would be really fun."
A giant million-watt smile covered his face and his eyes lit up.
"Okay great! Tonight?" He asked me.
"Yeah, sure. I'll go change."

I was throwing on outfit after outfit, nothing seemed to work. I didn't have super nice clothes and I had no idea where he was taking me. I decided on just black jeans and a white V-neck top. Very casual but I hope that would be okay. I slicked my curls back into a low bun and attempted makeup but nothing covered what I was most insecure about. My nose. I rolled my eyes and gave up and I went to open the door and Kenny stood there with his hand up like he was just about to knock.
"Oh, sorry." I chuckled nervously and looked at what he was wearing. He just wore a pair of shorts and a plain T-shirt just like me.
"You ready?" He asked, and I nodded and grabbed his arm, and followed him out of the castle.
He opened every single door for me. Every single one. What a gentleman. Once we were in the car it seemed like he was driving for forever.
"Where are we going?" Did I ask him?
"Just enjoy the ride. I'm gonna take you to my favorite spot."
I just huffed in annoyance and looked out the window and watched as we got closer to the main city it seemed. Kenny then pulled into a parking lot and the lights lit up saying Gordigios. Italian. We got out of the car and the line out of the restaurant was extremely long everyone was in their best apparel and here we were in jeans and a T-shirt.
"We are underdressed." I spoke to him. Kenny just shrugged like he didn't care, and he probably didn't. This place may be fancy and expensive for regular pack members but for him it's like a fast-food burger place.
Kenny pushed himself through the line and we got dirty looks up unit they saw who it was and immediately they looked away. We got to the host stand the girl's cheeks immediately lit up with blush. Kenny was a good-looking guy, I'd blush too.
"Beta Kenny, nice to see you. You're table as usual is already ready." She smiled grabbed menus and we followed her.
I took a look around the restaurant and took in just how beautiful it was. So far all I had seen were couples and they were so engrossed in each other and what the other person had to say I couldn't help but smile.
Once we were at our table, Kenny pulled the chair out for me and I sat down and he did the same. I grabbed the menu and started looking through it but it was in Italian.
"What you don't read Italian?" Kenny joked and I rolled my eyes at him.
"Surprisingly no." I scoffed.
"Americans."
"Aren't you American?" I mean I knew we fly overseas, but I guess I never asked where exactly we were.
"You can't hear my accent?" He raised an eyebrow at me.
"No, not really." Kenny just let out the biggest laugh and I looked at him so confused. He had an accent?
"I'm British love. We all are. Tyler, myself. Everyone else you've seen. You're telling me you haven't been able to tell?" He raised an eyebrow and never in my life have I ever felt so stupid. That's when I heard it. The accent. The charm. It was all making sense.
"How am I that clueless?"
"Something is occupying your mind. You're extremely distracted so figuring out where you are is the last of your worries."
The waiter walked over asking what wine we wanted to drink and see if we were ready to order. I hadn't even decided yet. I looked at Kenny with panic in my eyes. He understood and order something for me, I just hope it tastes good.
'Something doesn't feel right.'
I have never perked up so quickly before in my life. I was confused about where that sound came from. Then I realized who it was. It was Sadie.
'Something doesn't feel right.' The voice spoke again, okay wait. Not Sadie. This voice was powerful and unfortunately, that wasn't my wolf.
'Uhh...hello?'
'Something doesn't feel right Charlie. It feels wrong.'
I have no idea how it knew my name or still where it was coming from but it responded to that so I'm going to keep up with it.
'What feels wrong?'
'He's not our mate. Not our true mate.'
'Mate? Sadie is that you? I thought...Wait but didn't...I'm confused.'
'They are dangerous. Be careful. I feel it.'
"Charlotte, you okay?" Kenny asked pulling me out of my daze.
The waiter was long gone and it was just him and I again. I truly couldn't wrap my head around what just happened. Was that...my wolf? I haven't heard from Sadie in a long time. And even when I did, she never talked like that.
Was she right? Was he, not my mate? I mean aren't you supposed to hear your wolf say something...I didn't. Did someone put a spell on me?
"No, something isn't right. It doesn't feel right." I told him truthfully.
"What do you mean?
"Why am I not as affected as Tyler? He feels the mate pull but I don't. Just not in the way that I thought I would. Like shouldn't I be missing him? Why was t so easy for me to come here with you? Does it make sense to you?"
Kenny land forward and grabbed my hand and pulled me towards him.
"You're right it doesn't but who are we to question the moon goddess? For all we know you were brought here for me."
I loved how he was trying to be sweet and reassure me but it didn't distract me in the way he thought it would.
"Kenny, that's sweet. But we both know that's not true" I tried to pull my hands away and leaned back but his grip just got tighter.
"Look, Charlie, you need to drop it okay? For your own sake, forget about it." His whole demeanor changed when he said that, it was kind of scary. Maybe Sadie was right...was he dangerous?
"Okay." I put on a smile and shook the thought out of my head. Kenny wouldn't hurt me. He'd never do that.
Right?
