CHAPTER 23

Mark's POV

"How was the party?" I asked Rosy, the moment she took a seat on the sofa and I walked inside the living room.

"It was great, brother. I got to make my first female friend."

"Is that so?"

"Yes brother. She's just too nice, kind and beautiful. You should have seen how beautiful she looks, brother. You did fall straight up for her with her angelic voice."

"That's interesting. I would love to meet her but falling for her or anyone can't happen and you know that."

"Brother, when will you understand that not all women are like mothers? Why are you always hard to get?"

"You won't understand, Rosy. I'm glad you had fun. Go take a shower and come join me for dinner."

"Forget it brother." She screamed and rushed upstairs.

Love isn't easy to get, little sister, I hope you can understand that. And I have made my decision, never will I fall in love again with any woman. I'd rather remain single than marry a woman whose aim will be something else other than love.

But I know with time, you'll come to understand my point Rosy and let me be.

Casabella's POV

The moment Rosy left, I didn't waste much time there and also left the pool and headed back to the party to see Jace looking around for me.

But I told him, I got bored and stepped out to have some time alone but I didn't mention my encounter with Rosy to him.

And after a little while we left that party and he dropped me off at the house.

I was expecting Lora to lash me with words after Jace left but she didn't, instead she just stared at me and walked away to her room.

I guess my lashing earlier caused a great effect on her. If I had known giving her a piece of my mind in the first place, I wouldn't have suffered so much in her hands.

I'm glad it really got to her and I hope she limits the way she treats me just because I always act cool but once she starts again, I'm more than ready to show her how powerful I can be when someone pushes me to the last core.

I head to my room and take my bath, and change into my nightwear and drafted off into a peaceful sleep.

~MORNING~

Madison's POV

I can't seem to forget that lady I saw at the party. I've never seen anyone as beautiful as her before and I'm still stunned as to how she disappeared.

"Could it be that she's an angel or a goddess?" I conceited, trying to find a good answer for it.

"Maddy, you seem lost since last night. Don't tell me you're still thinking about that strange lady who vanished."

"Mary, you just won't understand. I sensed a strange connection with her which I'm still lost about."

"Come on babe, it could be just a feeling and nothing serious. You've got to forget about her and focus on why we are here."

"Alright babe. It is not something to be lost on after all, she doesn't seem real."

"Sure, Maddy." She reassured me and I nodded and wanted to say something when a knock came in.

"Yes." I responded and the door was pushed open with a maid walking in.

"Good morning Ma'ams. Breakfast is served."

"Alright." I disclosed and she left.

"Let go babe." She uttered, pulling me from the bed as we headed downstairs to the dining room and saw the breakfast all served with my favourite dish; Easter egg salad and avocado toast with café con leche.

"Oh, my goodness! I can't wait to try out my favourite dish." I moaned out, taking a seat.

"Cool a bit, babe." Mary chuckled.

"Easter egg salad and avocado toast are my favourite, girl. I'm so excited right now."

"Really!"

"Totally!" I bemoaned, taking a bite of the avocado toast.

"No wonder your mum called and had them make it for you."

"Seriously! That's my mum. She's my world and life. I can't do without her."

"L know babe but at least don't eat all of it and have me starve to death."

"Sorry Mary. Come join me." I urged her, and took another mouthful of Easter egg salad to my mouth.

Mark's POV

"What's up bro?" Alex uttered, walking up to me in the living room.

"Hey buddy."

"Why the angry tone? Did I offend you?" He questioned.

"No, Alex. Why did you turn up this early, is something wrong?"

"Chill bro. What's up with you? Why are you acting like you don't know I do turn up early to come meet my babe."

"Sorry bro. I'm just not myself right now."

"Did something happen between you and someone?

"No! Nothing happened. Give me a couple of minutes to get ready for the office." I requested and get on my feet heading for the stairs when Rosy showed up

"Good morning brother." She uttered, sounding like someone who cried.

"Did you cry?"

"I didn't and why do you even care when you don't listen to me about anything." She screamed and burst out in tears.

"Dude! How could you make my sweetheart cry? No wonder, you were putting up that attitude towards me. Come here, my angel." Alex rushed up to her and pulled her to himself.

I didn't mean to make her cry or anything. But what she's asking me to do sounds hard and impossible. I hope she forgives me for hurting her feelings.

"It's alright my love. Don't mind him, he's probably frustrated about something. He didn't mean to hurt you."

"I know he wouldn't do anything to hurt me but why can't he try to be happy for once."

"What do you mean?"

"He doesn't want to fall in love with any woman or even plan to get married and be happy. He isn't getting any younger and you know that as well."

I'm really a bad person after promising never to make her cry or hurt her which I just did.

"I'm sorry little sister for making you feel bad but from now on, I'll try and look for a decent woman who will tame my heart and bring her right to you."

"Do you promise?"

"I promise, sister but please stop crying. It really hurt my heart to see you in tears. Forgive me for breaking my promise."

"It's alright brother, I know you didn't mean to hurt me. I forgive you."

"Thank you, baby sister. You know you are the apple of my eyes and the only family I've got and never want to lose you."

"Me too. I love you brother."

"I love you more."

"Baby, what about me? Don't tell me you love your brother more than me?" Alex remarked.

"Yours is special but my brother's love is greater." She expressed and I smiled.

"I know he wants to turn you against me but my love for you will win his." He affirmed and we both chuckled.

Casabella's POV

Throughout the day, Lora didn't yell or utter any rude words to me. She was saying everything in a nice tone and even when I broke a glass cup, she didn't shout or insult me, she only asked me to clean up the mess and walked away.

While Annie, just stayed up all day in her room and refused to eat anything.

I see no reason why she will get jealous over nothing but she just seems to hurt whenever good things keep coming my way and I hope she suffers more of it because both she and her mother deserves it.

"Lunch is ready." I announced to Lora who was lost in her world.

"I'm not hungry. Go serve it on a tray and take it to Annie in her room if she will eat."

"That's if she will even open the door." I murmured to myself and walked back to the kitchen and served the food on a tray and headed to the little witch's room.

If she doesn't open up to take the food. I will eat it just like I did with her breakfast. I can't stress myself over someone who doesn't deserve my help.

"Annie! I brought you lunch. Your mother said, you should try and eat something. I'll leave it here and in the next five minutes, if I come back to see the food outside, just forget the thought of eating anything." I stated and dropped the tray on the floor.

When I didn't hear any sound from her, I turned around to leave when I heard the sound of the door opening and turned back to see her looking like a sick patient with puffy eyes.

I felt pity for her but what has jealousy got to do with her if not cause her pain.

She just gave me a deadly glare and picked up the food before slamming the door to my face.

"I was hoping you won't take the food." I joked.

"Fuck off bitch!" She yelled which got me laughing.

As far as I know no one can stay hungry for long not to talk of the almighty Annie herself.
