Earlier, Tang Hao had a hunch that it was them. Not many people who bore a grudge with him would have that much influence. The only one who might have been able to influence the Agency was the Song family.

The other military officials could not understand it either.

The Song family was one of the most influential families in the country. Why would they instruct someone to commit treason?

“The Song family’s target is Little Brother Tang!” Taoist Master Qian Ji said grimly.

He briefly explained the grudge between Tang Hao and the Song family to them.

The others immediately understood after his explanation.

All that was because of Comrade Tang Hao.

“This is preposterous! The Song family thinks that no one can touch them. They’ve gone too far this time!

“How dare they instruct someone to commit treason and conspire with the enemy just so that they can settle a personal grudge? This is a serious crime! If Comrade Tang Hao isn’t as powerful, we would have lost two talented people.

“That’s right. We should not let them off scot-free! Even the Song family should not perform such heinous acts!” The other military officers agreed.

“Taoist Master, did you ask him if the Hindustani cultivators who intruded our land were part of this nefarious plan?” The commander asked seriously.

“No, they were not, though they did plan on crossing the border. The traitors took advantage of that plan,” the Taoist master replied.

“Old Master Song approached Dragon Tiger Mountain to do the deed, but they did not agree to it and introduced Taoist Master Fu Yun to him. Fu Yun is notorious for his shady and opportunistic character. He only became a cultivator because of his fortuitous encounter. He could not withstand temptation,” the Taoist master added.

“I’ll leave his fate to the Agency. I hope you recorded his statement so that he cannot deny it later. I’ll bring this issue to your superiors. The Song family will receive their due punishment too,” the commander said.

He looked at Tang Hao and said, “Don’t act rashly, Comrade Tang Hao. You’ll receive a satisfactory answer from us.”

Tang Hao furrowed his brows but did not say anything.

Since the commander had said that, he would lie low and wait for any news from them.

The commander left hurriedly with the other officers following behind.

“Dammit, that old Song guy is a cruel bastard!” Taoist Master Qian Ji cursed as he punched the wall.

Then, he ran toward the room.

Soon, Tang Hao heard the agonized cries of Taoist Master Fu Yun again.

Tang Hao shook his head.

He turned around and saw that Mu Xintong was still standing there. She was staring at him.

“What’s wrong?” Tang Hao was surprised.

She did not say anything but continued to stare at Tang Hao.

She spat out a few words after a long while. “You’re strong!” After that, she turned around and left.

“Was that supposed to be a compliment?” Tang Hao mumbled and smiled awkwardly.

He stood there for a long time before taking out his phone and giving a call to Old Master Zhou.

It was very late at night. The phone rang for a long time before it was answered.

“Hey, Divine Doctor Tang! It’s already midnight… is there anything urgent?” Old Master Zhou was heard on the other end of the call.

He yawned as though he had just been woken up.

“This is serious, Old Master Zhou!” Tang Hao said grimly.

“Serious?” Old Master Zhou shuddered and immediately became wide awake.

Tang Hao briefly explained the incident to him.

The other end of the call was silent for a long time.

“This is the best opportunity!” Old Master Zhou said, “The Song family will be done for this time!

“That Song Weimin has gone too far… He didn’t expect that his plan would fail, right? Not only that, he made you a national hero out of it.

“Now that you have the full support of the military and the Zhou family, there’s a good chance that we can bring them down!

After that, Old Master Zhou ended the call.

Tang Hao kept his phone away and breathed a sigh of relief.

She was still awake, waiting for his news. She was very sleepy though, she kept on yawning as they chatted.

He briefly explained the mission to her and the dangers he faced, then they said good night to each other.

Ol’ Bai arrived at about two o’clock. His expression was grim, and he brought with him a group of people with equally grim faces.

They brought Fu Yun into a room and interrogated him for a very long time.

It was soon sunrise.

The commander brought him good news.

Now that they had concrete evidence, the Higher-Ups decided that the Song family shall not escape punishment. Even Old Master Song would be punished too.

The Song family had done many dastardly deeds over the years. It was the perfect chance to settle it once and for all.

It meant that the Song family’s downfall was imminent!

Very soon, Old Master Zhou called him and gave him similar news.

Tang Hao was at ease when he heard that.

After the sun rose, Tang Hao talked to the commander. He prepared to take the military jet back to Province Z.

He received a phone call just when he was about to board the plane. It was from an unknown number.

Tang Hao hesitated for a while but picked up the call anyway.

“Oh, thank god you picked up the call!” A familiar voice was heard over the phone.

“You are…?” Tang Hao was surprised. He could not recall who the voice belonged to.

“Where the hell have you been, Tang Hao? Don’t you know that I’ve been trying to contact you for the entire day yesterday? If you don’t pick up the call, Young Miss Ling will be marrying that Song guy soon.”

Tang Hao trembled, and his expression changed drastically.
