Twelve
But what is he expecting? Geez, what’s wrong with him?
He closed his eyes tightly. This must be the effect if candies.
As he looked at the nerdy girl in front of him, he couldn’t help but feel a sense of confusion. He had been spending more and more time with the nerdy girl lately, but he wasn’t sure if he liked him in a romantic way or not.
On the one hand, the nerdy guy was incredibly smart and passionate about his interests, and the man found that fascinating. He enjoyed listening to the nerdy guy talk about his latest scientific discoveries or video game strategies, and he appreciated the depth of knowledge and enthusiasm that the guy brought to their conversations.
On the other hand, the man couldn’t help but feel a little self-conscious when he was around the nerdy guy. He was used to hanging out with more conventionally attractive and popular people, and he worried that being seen with the nerdy guy would make him look like a loser. He found himself making excuses to avoid being seen with the nerdy guy in public, even though he enjoyed spending time with him in private.
As he grappled with these conflicting feelings, the man couldn’t help but wonder if he was just using the nerdy guy for his intelligence and companionship, rather than genuinely liking him as a person. He knew that he needed to sort out his feelings soon, before he hurt the nerdy guy’s feelings or led him on. But for now, he couldn’t shake the feeling of uncertainty that lingered in his mind.
It’s too sweet so--- shut! He hasn’t even eaten yet so it’s impossible because of the candy!
He turned it with a frown.
“W-are you still there?”
He nodded.
“Do you need anything?”
Instead of answering that, he went inside the tent and sat opposite it.
She moved back for him to fit it. The tent looked big when he wasn’t there but when he entered it seemed to be very small because of his elegant body.
“Y-you’re not leaving yet?”
“Why would I?”
Her head tilted.
“This is my tent.”
A smile escaped his lips when her eyes widened.
“I traded tents with Freeda.”
“W-how? He agreed?”
“She doesn’t have a choice.” He grinned.
“B-but you can’t be here---”
“Why?” He leaned forward, “Don’t you like it when I’m near?”
His eyes piercing on hers. His arms both in her sides. Her eyes are gorgeous up close its not just her amber eyes that’s pulling him in, it’s the mystery behind her deep eyes.
A smile crept on his lips when she gulped. He finally has a chance to tuck the fallen strand of her hair away from her face. Her warm breath near his lips.
His heart pounded against his chest. He took a deep breath as he stared at her lips.
He wanted so bad to taste her lips. This is the only chance he has in her. After this, things could go in two ways. It’s either she’ll like him or hate him if he kisses her now.
Damn it! Come what may!
He leaned closer, expecting their lips to touch but instead of her soft lips, he tasted the bitterness on someone’s voice that stopped him.
“What the hell is this?”
Wilder closed his eyes tightly before turning his direction.
“What are you doing here Ava?”
His arms are folded. Her eyes are throwing daggers but it doesn’t bother him at all. .
“Shouldn’t I be the one asking that question Wilder? What are you doing with that nerd?”
“Why do you care Ava?”
His nose and ears seem to be burning with anger because of his blushing.
“I’m your girlfriend! I have the right to know---”
“You know what Ava? That’s just the effect of the candy. You must have had too much---” he was cut off.
“And what did you do a while ago? You actually helped that nerd! I’m your girlfriend!”
He sighed. This is the reason why he doesn’t want commitment. They tend to be clingy and possessive even though it’s just a one time thing.
“How many times do I have u tell you that you’re not my girlfriend Ava? We’re just flings!”
Ava took a deep breath. His gaze shifted to Fertine. The second I blink, she’s grabbing Fertine’s hair already!
Ava pulled Fertine out of the tent, tightly tugging on the woman’s hair. The few who were there stopped and turned to her.
“You’re not really carried away, are you?”
“You’re a flirtatious nerd! You’re just pretending to make Wilder like you because you look innocent but the truth is you’re worse than me!” Ava screamed while tugging hard on her hair.
Fertine hissed in pain, she tried to pull away from her grip but she’s eager to pull every strand of her hair. It was even easier because her hair was only in a navel.
“Ava stop it!” Wilder screamed. He tried to grab her arms away from Fertine but she won’t let go.
Fertine is already bent over but Ava is still trying to push her to the ground. Dirt is all over her clothes, she is a little soaked yet Ava didn’t stopped making her life difficult.
The few onlookers shouted and screamed.
“Fuck! Ava what the hell?! That’s it! Let go of her!”
“Should I let him go? For what? So you can flirt? No fucking way Wilder!”
“I don’t know if you haven’t been brought here, you silly nerd!” Ava said and dug her nail into Fertine’s butt.
She whimpered in pain.
“Let go of her now Ava! Don’t let me use force.” Wilder warned.
“Oh do use force Wilder. I like it when your rough.” She smiled deviously.
Wilder took a deep breath. He knew Ava wouldn’t take it seriously. Atlis he still tried. He’s about to push her hard away from Fertine when Avery shouted.
He ran closer and supported Fertine’s back.
“Ava please stop it! Fertine is hurting.”
“And I’m not hurt?” he laughed a little.
She finally let go of her, Ava pushed her away. Avery was leaning on the back so Fertine didn’t fall completely.
“I’m your sister but why are you on her side? Is that nerd your brother?” Ava’s voice was full of bitterness.
Avery’s eyes are full of concern towards her sister. Silence filled the air.
“She did nothing to you Ava.” Said Wilder.
“Not yet,” she said.
“Ava…” Avery called her but she acted like she didn’t hear it. Her eyes shifted in Fertine.
“I hate you.” He said before leaving.
Wilder didn’t look at that for long. He turned to Fertine who was in Avery’s arms.
He pulled Fertine away from him. She twitched on his arms, his eyes remained on her. He shook his head when he thought Fertine smiled deviously.
Geez, I must be going crazy!
“Are you all right?”
She nodded.
He can’t deny how he cared for Fertine the moment she whimpered in pain.
“I’m sorry Fertine. Ava’s just having a hard time.” Avery said.
Fertine smiled at him.
“He-he needs you.”
He sighed. He glanced once again at Fertine before following her sister.
Fertine removed Wilder’s arm. He turned to her with a frown.
He wants to ask but when he noticed Freeda running towards their direction he knew the reason why.
“What happened here?” He asked. He doesn’t have any idea what is going on. He is confused at the same time. After they’re eyes meet eye to eye. He is not sure anymore if he knows what is going on.
He needs to be sure.
“N-nothing, Let’s go.” Fertine said to Freeda before entering her tent again without looking at her.
