I haven’t seen him for a long time.
“Hera.” Hades said seriously.
“Oh you remember me, twin?” It said sarcastically.
Yes. Hera is our sister. Both of them are twins with Hades.
“You know, I don’t know who is your twin anymore. Is it me or her? You are always with our little freaky sister that you almost forget about the twin that you have! The twin that you shared your life with in our mother’s womb!” She screamed just enough for us to hear it.
I swallowed hard.
I just bow down. “Hera this is not about—” Hades started but Hera couldn’t continue to speak.
“Don’t defend her Hades, you and Dad longed for her. Yes I know. But isn’t it too much to the point that you forget about me?” I lift my head to look at her. I can feel her pain.
She’s been alone ever since I came. Hades’ attention was reduced to just the two of them.
Because Hades went to America and we studied there, he was left to continue the course at Ateneo.

“No Dad! I don’t have another sibling! Hadn’t Hades and I had enough and you still looked for your son outside?! We got along well as sons? We obeyed everything you wanted Dad!” Hera shouted furiously.
“Hera please.. understand the situation.. she’s your sister.” Dad said trying to calm her down.
“Understand the situation?! Can you hear yourself Dad?! You have such a thick face to say that that girl is my sister in front of Mom and me! You lied to her all long! You fucking lied to us! You didn’t really love her mom because you’re looking for a hookup! That girl’s mother is cute! Your slapping Fertin really has something to do with it—” he couldn’t finish what he was saying because Papa’s palm touched his cheek. Hera’s neck almost broke from the force of Papa’s slap. Her face was covered by her long hair. She stiffened .
“Zeus!” Hera’s mother shouted.
My eyes widened when he slapped Hera.
“That’s enough, Hera. I know your at rage and you can’t accept it right now but I didn’t raise you to have a filthy mouth! Where is your respect?!” Papa said angrily.
His mother approached him.
“You don’t deserve my respect for ruining this family…” His eyes were sharp when he said that to his father. “And you.” It turns on me.
“You will never be my sister.. You will never be a Wu because you’re a bastard.” Every word he spoke to me was sharp. I accepted all that because I know it hurts for his family too.
Who would have thought that the person I hate the most is my brother.
He ran to the door and left. “Y-you! Her—” “Dad that’s enough.” Hades stopped.
Hera’s Mother turned to me then left to follow her son.
When that happened I never went to their house again. Every time Papa invites me, I sneak out. We are both affected by the decisions made by our parents. We are both hurt but the pain we both feel is different. He grew up with a beautiful, complete and happy family. As for me, he has nothing. Instead of harboring anger for what he did to me, I just understood him. His mother was formal with me at gatherings and when I was introduced as Wu she was not there.
“Athena Fertine Wu.” It turns on me. “A bastard creating her name in the business world.” He laughed mockingly.
“Hera.” Weaned by Hades.
“You know even though your name changes and your life. Your still a bastard who ruined everything for me. I hope that you’re happy making my life miserable.” It said
“Hera you are not miserable. Your not alone we are still here. You are the one who is staying away from us. I am your brother—”
“No. You are not my twin anymore. We’re used to be best friends. You are supposed to protect me from anything that will hurt me.. but you didn’t! Youre the one who hurt me by choosing that slutty sister of yours.”
“Hera please.” Hades begged.
“You lost your tongue, Fertine? Or are you begging for mercy so that my brother will take your side?” It promised.
“I’m not sorry Hera, it’s been four years but why are you still locked up with that disease?”
“Yes! It’s been 4 fucking years and yet your still haunting me! Everywhere I go, You look like the mouth of the people around me. Dad tried to make it up to me by bringing your name and it hurts me the most that even when he is apologizing to me, he puts you first before me!” It screamed. He stared at me intently and I could see his hatred for me from his eyes.
Pain and hatred is the only thing that you can see in her eyes.
That’s what I saw in his eyes before, it’s still like that until now.
People looked at each other inside the restaurant.
Hades stood up to calm him down. “Sit down first, Hera we can talk about it. Let’s eat first.” He said.
He removed Hades’ hand from his shoulder. “No. I lost my appetite already. Enjoy your dinner.” She said bitterly then walked away.
We continued eating. No one spoke until we left the restaurant.
I was getting into my car when Hades spoke. “She’s a brilliant and kind hearted person. She will accept it soon.” He said.
“She’s hurt, Hades. I understand.” I answered.
“So are you..until now.”
To Mom:
Mom, how are you there? I miss you already. I hope you can come to my launch ma. Be safe. I love you
I haven’t received a text from mom in four years. He doesn’t call or visit me either. He did not come to introduce me even though I invited him and sent him the fare.
He cut off all ties with me including the Wus.
He really rejected me. Especially now that I don’t use it as a last name anymore.
I regret that I hid my previous relationship with Mama.
