Chapter 31: Cassandra's Jealousy
She was getting a headache from the tears that wouldn't stop. While Edward was worried about Cassandra misinterpreting him earlier, she thought Edward might just play her. He then walks over to her room and knocks. "Can you please talk to me, Cassandra?"
"Can you please leave me alone!" she exclaimed as she opened the door and stared at him. He was dressed, which was more than she could have said an hour ago.
"I'd like to explain what happened back there," Edward said, closing the door behind him.
"It was obvious what was going on, so it's no surprise you didn't want to come in with me since you had other things on your mind. Look, just go, you owe me no justification. "
She turned to leave, but he grabbed her arm and swung her around. "Nothing happened between me and that woman. "Cassandra, you know I loved you and had already proposed to you; you are my soon-to-be Mrs. Consuelo; you don't need to be jealous of her because I'm only your sweetie," Edward explained.
She pushed him away by releasing her arm from his grasp. "Liar, do you think I was born last night? You kept looking at her throughout dinner, then you couldn't wait to ditch me, so get the hell out, I don't want to hear your lies."
That shove enraged him; it was at least the third time she had pushed him away. And if she didn't want to hear the truth, so be it. He walked out the door, slamming it shut behind him.
Cassandra sat back down on the bed, her whole body shaking as she sobbed again. It hurt so much to think that the man she loved had betrayed her so quickly. "Why is this happening now? when I had already agreed to marry him. Did he love me for real?" she wondered, but she hadn't told him properly how she felt, and she never expected him to after catching him with someone else. She didn't want it anymore if this was love and could cause this much pain.

Edward couldn't bear returning to his room, so he went down to the hotel bar and ordered a double scotch on the rocks. His thoughts kept returning to Cassandra, and the pain he saw on her face tore his heart out. If she had just let him explain, she would have known the truth, but the damn woman was so stubborn and obstinate.
After a few more double stitches, he reflected on how, if he had walked in on her, he would have assumed the same thing was going on.
The only distinction is that the other guy would be lying in a pool of blood. When a woman walked over and sat next to him, he ordered a couple more scotches and downed them.
"Hi handsome," the blonde girl said, "you look like a man in need of some company."
He began to think about Cassandra. "You might say that," he replied.
"Buy me a drink, and we'll talk later. Let us see where the night takes us "As she winked at him, the slut said.
He flags down the barista and tells him to give the lady whatever she wants. Then, standing up, he tossed some money on the bar and exited.
The woman jerks her head and mumbles under her breath.
Edward stumbles upstairs and bangs on Cassandra's door. Hearing the commotion, she rushes to open it, glaring at a very drunk Edward. "You're drunk," she exclaims.
He leans against the closed door, swaying from side to side. "We must do so.
talk, "He was slurring his words.
"Go to your room, Edward, and get some rest," she advised, snapped.
Grabbing her arm, he pulls her into his embrace. "You're messing with my head, Cassandra, do you realize how crazy I am about you?"
She tried to break free, but Edward gripped her even tighter. "You're so crazy about me you couldn't wait to jump into bed with another woman," she said, rolling her eyes at him. Cassandra managed to break free, opening the door and telling him to leave.
Rather, he went to the sofa and took off his tie. "I'm not leaving until you listen to me," he said as he closed his eyes.
She waited with her arms crossed, and when he remained silent, she walked over and gave him a shake. "Edward, Edward, wake up," but he was unconscious.
"Oh my God, this can't be happening," she exclaims as she enters the bedroom and pulls out a pillow and blanket.
Cassandra takes off his shoes and pulls his legs up onto the sofa. She sits on the edge, the blanket draped over her. She lifts his head, placing the pillow beneath him. She sits there staring at him, her heart racing as she reaches over and moves the hair that has fallen over his brow. "Why, Edward? Why did you feel the need to take that woman to bed when I had just given myself to you?" She cried.
Edward awoke with a severe hangover, his head pounding, his mouth dry, and he felt terrible. He realized he was in Cassandra's room when he looked around. He had no idea how or when he had arrived here. He stood up and walked over to the table where there was a coffee pot and some cups, where he poured himself a cup.
Cassandra then entered the room, and seeing Edward made her heart race; even hungover, he looked stunning. "Oh, I see you're awake," she said as she poured herself a cup.
"How did I end up here?" he wondered, rubbing his temples.
"At four a.m., you were banging on my door, stinking drunk, and passed out on the sofa."
"Look, I didn't sleep with that woman. Cassandra please, believe me, I can't do that to you," Edward said as he tried to explain to her again.
"Oh, Edward, she was almost naked, and you were standing over her in a towel. Just forget it," Cassandra said, looking away so he wouldn't see her tears.
He swore as he threw his cup across the room, hitting the wall and smashing it into pieces. "God, Cassandra, will you let me speak?"
"You have nothing to say to justify what you did," she sobbed.
He shook her, grabbing her by the shoulders. "Okay, I'm going to tell you what really happened, and you're going to listen. I was in the shower, and when I came out, she was in my bed, practically naked, and I told her to get the hell out. "
"Oh please," she scoffed, "how did she get into your room in the first place?"
"I don't know. I swear I don't know how he got in," he said, looking down at the floor, his hands still on her, "so why do you tell her I'm just your friend!? And why didn't you want to come in here last night when I asked you? And why were you constantly watching that woman in the restaurant? "
"I was just trying to make you jealous. I know I'm so stupid to do that, but I swear to God you are the only woman I love in my entire life. Cassandra, please believe me. Let's fix this misunderstanding right now, please," he begs.
"Oh, Edward, that makes absolutely no sense," she snapped, pulling away from him.
"I know Sofie is a crazy bitch; we dated for a couple of months a long time ago, and I broke up with her because she is a slut who can't live with a one-man-only. Cassandra, I don't have a reason to be with her again because you are the one I want in my life," he explained as their eyes met. Cassandra can see the sincerity in his eyes. Edward really loves her that much.
"If that were true, and if you truly loved me, why did you ignore me?"
"I told you I was just trying to make you jealous at the time, and I didn't expect her to do that; I have no idea how that crazy bitch got into my room, and when you walked in, I was telling her to get out."
"I'm not sure whether to believe it or not; it all seems too unbelievable to me."
Edward approached her from behind but did not attempt to touch her. "You don't believe me? I'm telling you the truth, but if you don't believe me, it's your problem. I won't beg, I won't explain it again; all I'll do is stop trying; I can't do this with you. Cassandra, from now on, you and I are simply the parents of a lovely little girl."
Edward then walked away, stopping at the door. "I'm going to shower, then we'll go home."
Cassandra was left standing there, her heart filled with pain and loss as a result of his words.
"Is that all? Has he already given up? He finally gave up after he knew my feelings towards him! After getting me to feel jealous," she said to herself, feeling disappointed towards him as her tears fell.
