Chapter 52
CHAPTER 52
|| Savannah's POV ||
Relief settled into my stomach after Aria made sure that she had moved with Ethan to a safer place. She suggested to me that it was best for me to restrain myself from contacting Ares today. The media was crazy all over, waiting for a single clue. Now that, the reporters had already found out about my relationship with Finn and Ares, I had to stay on alert. Reluctantly, I had no choice but to go home until my parents arrived home.
" Explain this to me, Savannah Yardley!", my mom slammed the magazine right on my face, referring to those bold lines that were written " Savannah, a two-timer girl." A moment of fear crept through my mind since it was her first time, talking to me in her icy cold voice. This voice was so foreign to me that it made my heart feel guilty. Perhaps, it was my bad choice to date Ares for real.
My parents lead a very respectful life. They preferred to stay a thousand miles away from the limelight. Even while dating Finn, they used to warn me about the media as to how badly they didn't want their daughter's name in the magazine with Finn before engagement. I appreciated their thoughts and balanced my presence with Finn. But everything was ruined now.
I swallowed hard, looking away before admitting truthfully,
" Yes..Ares..and I are dating currently...I love him.."
Truths couldn't be hidden forever. Hence, I chose to answer them honestly. Well, they were never against my dating but they had red signals about these bad boys. It wasn't like they hated Ares or Aria. They adored each one of them but my mum just thinks that someone like Ares wasn't suitable to date with me no matter if he was a renowned player or not.
My dad finally had some reaction on his face. I think, my sudden confession shocked them but it was hella the truth. Through his round glass, I saw the grim look in his eyes as if he was disappointed with my words.
My mum started rampaging, trotting on her heels all over the house,
" I can't believe this..You are dating Ares, that playboy who just knows how to fuck without commitment? You seem to disappoint me, Savannah."
I felt a sharp arrow, piercing through my heart after my mom repeatedly addressed me by my name. Naturally, she was a sweet talker and never talked to me except 'honey', and 'sweetheart'. As a loyal girlfriend, I defended Ares there,
" He has changed now, Mum. He is good to me and all these rumors happened because someone is jealous of his success."
My mum paused, her palms resting over her hips,
" What will you do with his success if he isn't loyal to you? Have you seen that sex scandal? He did with multiple girls in the past, including Savannah. He can do it with you too."
There, all my hopes crashed down. I hoped that they didn't find out anything about his scandal. But they had turned out to be too informative today. They did not only find out about me but Ares and his newly trending sex scandal too.
I had no idea where I was getting that confidence. My eyes pushed me to meet my mother's glaring eyes before blurting my words out confidently,
" He won't, mum. Ares has changed and there's really..."
" Enough!", I winced slightly, the angry voice of my father was ear-piercing. In my 20 years of life, I bet that I had never heard such a tone from him. Besides, they always loved me as their only child.
Oh, Ares! What did you do?
My father fixed his glass before glaring down at me to continue, stressing each one of his words,
" That's not how you should live, Sweetie! We never confiscated your freedom. Finn was fine at least he didn't make some shameful headlines. But we can't trust you with Ares. From this day onwards, you will be staying in your room without any contact with Ares. I hope that you will reflect on your mistakes and see what's good for you!"
I opened my mouth to say something but my mum cut me off, pointing at the stairs,
" No more talk! Upstairs now, Savannah!"
________
One day later, my parents kept their words strictly for the first time. I was indeed locked in this small room like an island person. No cell phones or laptops were allowed inside my room. I slept and ate like a pig idly without having anything to do. But that didn't go well with me. My mind and thoughts were all over on Ares, wondering what he might be facing at this time. From the seriousness of these rumors, he was going to be banished if it was proven true.
I couldn't entirely blame my parents. They had every right to not trust Ares but they should also focus on this part that I was an adult now and had choices of mine. I didn't try to make them understand anymore. After years, they would probably believe that I didn't fall for the wrong person. Although they weren't always home, that didn't make things less troubling for me. Within a short time, they hired two people to take care of me especially watching me closely. So even if I wanted to meet Ares, it was impossible to escape their observant eyes.
Later at night, I was laying on my back. The sky seemed to growl occasionally, sending an announcement of early rain. Suddenly, I wasn't liking my room anymore. Although nothing changed in my favorite decoration, my mind screamed at someone's absence in my room.
Ares! I missed his smug look whenever he wanted to be playful. Letting out a long sigh, I managed to close my eyes, hoping that a long night's sleep would take my worries away. Before I could consume into my sleep deeper, a knocking sound jolted me up from sleep.
I gasped, shaking slightly at this sudden interruption. When my eyes followed the doorway to ensure where the noise was coming from, I heard knock from a different direction.
Sitting up straight, I glanced around and saw a familiar figure, standing against the tainted window.
Ares!
Despite everything we were going through, I couldn't stop a big smile, forming on my face. Jumping off my bed, I ran over to him, pushing it open to give him access inside my room.
" Oh my gosh! Ares! How did you come?", I gasped, staring at him speechlessly. I thought about those times in movies when the hero sneaked inside his girl's room. I couldn't believe that it was happening real in my life. I must say that it felt too good especially when you are madly in love with the person.
Ares took a glance at my door, muttering with an exhale,
" I guessed it right. They are locking you up here?"
I nodded and suddenly felt my throat dry to notice his sullen expression. I guess that he was blaming himself for my condition. His eyes had round black circles within a day and looked haggard and a bit messy. I assumed that he didn't sleep well yesterday.
" How are you?", I spoke, twisting my lips worryingly. I didn't like to see him upset. His playful eyes became my favorite which I used to hate once.
Skipping my question, he pulled me closer until I was pressing his chest, hearing his speedy heartbeat,
" Do you trust me, Princess?"
Of course, I did now but I didn't believe the past Ares!
I replied, placing a hand over his heart,
" I do..Ares.. now.."
His gaze softened at me, lips quivering up into a happy smile. We spent a few moments in silence until he leaned forward to kiss me hard, a raw fucking ' I missed your kiss.
________
" So, you aren't sure whether it's you or not?", I asked, settling myself next to him. My caretakers sent me a weird look when I asked for two mugs of coffee instead of one. They didn't imagine that I was hiding someone right under their nose in this house. I just made this excuse that I was craving for more.
Ares hummed, dragging his legs up to lay comfortably over my bed. He sipped from his mug and nodded his head. Pushing his dark eyes up, he mumbled, fear lacing from his voice,
" I am not one hundred percent sure but what if it's me, Princess? My career is at risk."
I saw the fear of losing me in his eyes. The infamous playboy, Ares had his own insecurity that was me. Dropping the mug aside, I moved forward to cup his cheeks, assuring him with a budding smile,
" I won't, Ares. It's not like you cheated on me."
He blurted, sounding confident,
" Never!"
I smiled then switched the topic to something serious. Inhaling a deep breath, I began to look through the events that happened in last few days,
" I feel like it's a well-prepared plan, Ares. Someone must be doing it on purpose. Do you have any suspects apart from Finn? I guess that in his current condition, he has no strength to fight with you."
Ares agreed, gazing sharply at his mug as if it was the invisible enemy who was after his life and career,
" I feel the same, Princess. I am worrying that what will I do if the sports jury decides to ban me. I have to provide evidence to prove myself innocent."
I mumbled, using all my detective knowledge,
" We can get that girl as your evidence. But first thing first.. is that... you? Only this girl can tell the truth. Do you have her contact now or anything else so that I can talk to her?"
Ares seemed a bit guilty to tell everything. I knew that he wasn't wishing to make me uncomfortable. Biting his lips, he confessed slowly, squeezing my palms,
" It was just nightstand, Princess. Then, I had an ugly fight with this girl, Catherine. I don't even know her contact now. Why on earth would try to stab me after years?"
It made sense. If the girl wanted to take any sort of revenge on Ares, she wouldn't have waited for years. Someone must have manipulated her to do this right now.
I squeezed his palms back, sending warmth to tell him silently that we can fight this together,
" We will know after finding her, Ares. Tomorrow, we will go after her location."
Ares gave me his deep look, adding in a guilty voice,
" But your parents..."
I smiled brightly at him, hissing in a soft voice,
" They were my priority for years. Right now, you are my priority, Ares!"
His eyes got lost in mine, glazing with emotions that he had never shown me before. I assumed that he had always wanted to be someone's priority. As his hands outstretched to grab me, I slid aside sideway to tease him. Placing my mug carefully in a remarkable destination, I mumbled sarcastically,
" But I hate to see that someone got the chance to ride you, Ares."
A hungry growl quickly left his mouth and I smirked victoriously. I knew that my dirty words were turning him hard which I liked. Before I had the chance to tease him more, he wiggled his ass before pushing me down on his lap. His possessive grip quickly went around my waist. I giggled at his arms, slightly horny to think that he was so desperate to have me.
He smiled, relief crossing over his features. Perhaps, he was more scared that I would leave him after everything. Tugging the corner of my T-shirt, he whispered into my ears, fanning my skin with his seductive voice,
" You can always replace the memory, Princess."
