CHAPTER 62

|| Ares's POV ||

My subconscious was screaming one and only Finn Hansley, that fucker but Savannah was refusing to believe that. Because she assumed that Finn was already in his sorry state and wouldn't bother to do something big like this. But I was having different thoughts. I knew how Finn liked to uphold his position always. To Savannah, he only showed the part that he wanted to be seen by her. But Finn Hansley was much crueler than her imagination. He prioritized his goal and career over anything.

Kasper, the guy was helping us out this time. God, how I wished that I was some sort of cop like him. Their friendship made me jealous. It wasn't like I didn't trust my girlfriend. I was just a little afraid that she would be giving him more attention than me.

We drove the nearly broken rented car to Kasper's apartment. I hated this car more than anything in this world. It was slow like a tortoise and smelt so old inside. I missed riding my SUV. It wasn't like I wanted to show off my money. All I cared about was Savannah's comfort. I didn't want to let her feelings for a single moment that she wasn't happy here with me. She sacrificed so much for me, her family, and her peaceful life.

We both strode upstairs together, taking each other's hand before stopping in front of the door. After ringing the bell, Kasper opened the door for us, wearing his homey clothes. Savannah went forward to hug him briefly which made me groan inside.

God, it was such torture!

Kasper led us to his guest room and then seated around to face us. After pushing a few papers toward us, Kasper spoke in a suspicious voice,

" See, Catherine is a regular member of that bar."

I clenched my jaw hard. I just knew that we shouldn't have trusted her smiling face. She was just a snake under the veil. Savannah and I watched the reservation dates together, narrowing darkly. Savannah spoke first, pushing the papers aside irritated,

" Do you have any idea how to recover the footage from that day?"

Kasper shook his head, taking a sip of wine in his glass,

" That's nearly impossible, cupcake. But I do believe that there is a real copy of Catherine if she is involved in this incident. Here, I found someone interesting!"

Kasper plucked his cell phone out, tapping on a video to start. The video footage showed that Catherine entered with a man next to her into the bar. Kasper pointed at the man around my age and height eagerly,

" There.. there... Observe his back when he enters the elevator. He looks so much like you even though the tattoos are so similar. Do you think that it's a bit abnormal?"

I gasped when I saw the man's face.

Jaden Weasley!

He was a guy from the countryside whom I saw with Finn a few times. But the strange part was that his back looked similar to mine. Even the tattoos on my hands were exactly like his. Savannah and I both shared a startled look, watching them going into the elevator. Catherine was clinging to him.

Fuck! This is a well-structured plan!

I voiced, pointing at the guy with her,

" I saw him with Finn a few times which means.."

We all stared at each other in open wide mouths. I was fucking right. Finn was guiding them. I growled, clenching my teeth hard,

" Fuck, I told you, Princess! Finn is after this!"

I was more likely sure that Finn was plotting everything against me. If my image was ruined, he had the best chance to enter the national team this year. He would want to remove his obstacle like me.

Savannah's face twisted in anger. Kasper assured us with an evil chuckle,

" Don't be so impatient, brat. If Finn is doing such a horrific crime, he will be banned forever. The board will show him no mercy."

Savannah nodded, squeezing my palms together to assure me,

" Kasper is right, Ares. Finn will be gone forever if we can testify you are innocent."

She turned to ask Kasper then,

" Kasper, what can we do now? We have to clean Ares's name ASAP."

Kasper nodded thoughtfully and suggested smirking at us,

" We have to do another crime to get the evidence. As a cop, I can't do this because of my job but you guys can do it. Barge into Catherine's house and search for the evidence. She must have something useful against them. Besides, I will note down this guy's name as the prime suspect."

I couldn't wait any longer. They had damaged not only me but my family, and my sister for their selfish motives. I wasn't going to spare Finn at any cost. I jumped off the couch, urging Savannah immediately,

" Let's get it now, Princess. They have even dared to target my innocent sister. COWARDS!"

|| Savannah's POV ||

I couldn't even remember when was the last time, I had stolen something probably at the age of 5. But today, it felt different, adventurous, and scary at the same time. But it was worth anything whenever I looked at the guy, next to me.

Ares had his jaw clenched, anger tickling all over his expression. We were driving towards Catherine's house to see what we could find tonight. To our surprise, we saw that Catherine was alone in the house again like the other day. As it was only evening, we decided to stay in the car until it was late at night and Catherine would be gone to sleep. Meanwhile, Ares and I made a plan to enter her house without showing our presence. Fortunately, it was too easy to barge into a wooden house like this. They had a back door in the house. Catherine worked in their firms, leaving the key outside. We just had to pull out the key to the back door from it, hoping that we picked the right key.

The night grew deeper slowly. Crickets chirped from nearby bushes. We waited for Catherine to fall asleep but the lights in her room were still on. I wondered what she was doing so late alone in a house.

I sneaked a glance at my wrist watch and it showed 11:30 P.M. Cursing her mentally, I mumbled to Ares who was impatient as I was,

" I feel like I am doing a horrible crime, Ares."

Ares chuckled and we both heard a car parking in front of her house. We sharpened our eyes to find a guy climbing off.

Fuck, Jaden Weasley? Were they still having affairs? I just thought that they were fooling around.

Ares shook his head in disbelief,

" God! I knew it! It's him with Finn."

From our distance, we barely saw Catherine jumping out of the house and kissed Jaden before leading him inside.

Were they going to spend the night together? Of course, moron! They are together!

I scolded myself and focused on their movements as they went inside the house together. Ares took a deep breath, mumbling to me,

" Be prepared, Princess! We might get something more shocking and beneficial!"

It was easier to access her house than we imagined. The hallway was entirely dark, only a layer of light was shown from the street. We tiptoed together into the darkness, hearing rough movements from upstairs. Catherine was too busy making out with her boyfriend. After we slipped past the hallway, we strode upstairs silently, pausing in front of the half-opened door. A laptop was lying on the bed, and a cell phone was charged on the corner table. We quickly figured out that the room belonged to Catherine.

Smart girl!

She didn't make out with Jaden in her private room. I assumed that there was a spare bedroom in the distance. From what Ares told me, her parents were a bit conservative. That's the reason, she skipped the part about having sex with her boyfriend.

As we were forwarded to step into her master bedroom, moans and grunts filled the hallway. I paused involuntarily and Ares chuckled behind me. My cheeks turned hot in shame. It wasn't like we weren't like them but in this full conscious state, it was shameful in front of Ares. I pinched his arm, scoffing,

" Stop laughing, idiot!"

Ares brushed past his lips on my ears, and whispered in a low voice,

" Don't worry, Princess. You get louder than her!"

Gosh! Is this guy serious? We were on a serious mission.

Grabbing onto his arms, I dragged him inside, locking the door behind me carefully. Moving onto the bed, I took her laptop to find it open without any lock. She must be using this when Jaden came and forgot to turn it off. I had a feeling that God was finally on our side.

I wasted no more time logging in and searching through her folders. After checking the files, my heart was hopeless when I found nothing but a bunch of video songs. I almost cried in tension, mumbling to Ares who tried to unlock her phone,

" Ares... There's nothing..."

Ares quickly moved to my side and took the laptop from me. He groaned, typing faster on the keyboard,

" Impossible, Princess! There should be something."

I lowered my eyes helplessly then another idea popped into my mind. Placing a hand over his hand, I notified him quickly,

" Maybe, we should check her mail."

Ares immediately found the Gmail folder and went through it, finding Finn's name in front. We both froze for a while and saw the chat between them. Patiently, we read through the conversation and it seemed like it was Finn who approached him first. Catherine sounded pissed off especially when she typed that ' I wish that I could destroy Ares Thatcher.'

Ares growled next to my years, our eyes laid on the screen,

" I knew this fucker. See, he is just evil as ever."

After a series of reading their chats, we finally saw something sent by Catherine. A video file had been shared between them and Catherine sounded excited when she replied that ' I will be the doom of Ares Thatcher.'

Hoping on this piece of video, I finally played the video, waiting for the screen to turn on. Soon, I saw them inside the video, together rolling on the bed. It was none other than Ares and Catherine, an arrow just shot through my heart, suffocating me to breathe.

They were having sex!
