She's a good girl
After calling her aunt, Livy was in a bad mood.
She really shouldn't have contacted the woman so the good day wouldn't turn out to be bad. She regretted it now.
By this time she finally knew, her aunt would do anything to suppress her. Even confidently contacted her mother-in-law for help. If this happened, it was confirmed that her mother-in-law had already contacted Arthur. Too bad the relationship between the stepmother and stepson was also not good.
Livy wondered if her mother-in-law would actually contact the man.
Just as she decided to take a short break, her phone rang. That was Evander.
"Miss Livy, I've seen your test announcement. Congratulations to you." Evander said, "Mr. Arthur must have told you I'd be in touch, so I'll get to the point. Miss, please take your time in the next five days."
Livy was confused.
What?
She had just thought about what gift she would ask Arthur if the man asked. When Evander asked about her free day, she didn't get the point. Actually she didn't have much freedom, she still had a schedule to teach private lessons. In one week, there were three disciples she had to visit.
"Sorry, but why should I take my time?" Livy asked.
"Are you busy?" Evander asked back.
"Um, yeah, quite busy."
"What are you going to do in the next five days? I will rearrange a new schedule for you. If it's not urgent, I can shift your busy day outside the next five days."
"..."
Why did this sound like she had no other choice?
As she paused, Evander continued, "Mr. Arthur has prepared the next five days of overseas vacation. The schedule is tomorrow morning."
"???" Livy was shocked. "Wait! Vacation?"
"Yes. You'll be busy after university, so Mr. Arthur decided to take you on a honeymoon vacation before your school starts. He's cleared his schedule for the next five days."
"H-H-H-Honeymoon?" Livy stammered violently. "But, but ..."
"Miss, what are you busy with tomorrow?" Evander insisted on asking.
"Teaching private lessons," she answered half dazedly. "W-Wait a minute, I still can't digest this properly. It's a h-honeymoon vacation? What ... did Arthur say this? He arranged it?"
There was a brief pause after this question, she guessed Evander was frowning.
Evander replied after a moment, "Yes, he said this directly to me. I've vacated a private island and bought a ticket for your honeymoon trip."
'Vacated a private island?'
What does it mean? And honeymoon?
Livy's hands squeezed her own nervous chest, as the strong beat pounded as if her little heart was going to jump out of it and scatter on the floor.
Honeymoon?
Honeymoon ....
Honeymoon ....................................
Her face couldn't withstand the heat from being burned.
It was just a fake marriage, why were they going on a honeymoon? Was this a formality?
"Miss, I hope you don't mind even though this is an impromptu schedule," Evander said, "During the time I worked under Mr. Arthur, he never once asked for a vacation even though he broke his arm and leg, so this is the first time. Please don't refuse this request, Miss."
Livy believed it when Evander said that. According to Arthur's personality, he must be a hardworking type of guy.
Especially when she accidentally heard the commotion in the main house that time. She suspected that there was a problem at his company and that it had something to do with his family. With this conjecture, she felt that it was possible that all the work was passed to Arthur and because he was a quiet person, everyone thought that the man accepted everything and deserved to be bullied like a money machine.
Though for her, Arthur must have been tired.
Moreover, Arthur had fallen ill a few days ago. This vacation was very good for him to rest.
"Okay. But regarding my schedule, can I arrange it myself?" she asked.
Evander agreed with that.
After they made small talk, Evander didn't say much else, he said that all the travel gear had been prepared by the maids.
Livy was shocked to hear this and decided to go to her room. When she entered, sure enough, there was a large suitcase standing by her bed, as well as a small bag that had been neatly arranged on the table.
"It's very effective to have multiple servants, isn't it?"
Livy didn't see this as fun, instead she felt unfamiliar and a little scared.
During her life, she was used to doing everything alone. When things were well served with no gaps like this, she felt like she was dreaming. On the one hand she didn't want to wake up, on the other she was afraid of being trapped in this beautiful dream and forgetting herself.
She sat dreamily on her bed thinking about many things. What were they going to do this vacation? Evander said they were going to a private island that was ... empty?
At this time the maid in charge of cleaning the room, came in. "Miss, I will clean the room."
This greeting was also a sign that Livy needed to get out to make it easier for the maid to work, so she quickly left.
On the stairs, she saw the butler going upstairs in a relaxed and calm manner. This old man was too calm to be a butler, he was the one who managed the professional maids here. The butler's prowess definitely couldn't be compared to anyone.
"Lady, lunch is ready." Jim announced.
"Jim, can I ask you a favor?" Livy asked hesitantly.
"Don't be shy, Lady."
"I need information and some things I need for the holidays."
"Fine. I'll see you after lunch."
After lunch, Livy took no time to make small talk. The information she needed was about Arthur's health.
Fortunately Jim was willing to explain clearly. He said some things that were taboo for Arthur and some things that would trigger his illness. Livy even held a note to jot down everything.
"Lady, you are very considerate." Jim smiled.
"Arthur just recovered from his fever a while ago and when he's about to go this far away, I'm so worried."
Jim looked at Livy with a calm face, he was very relieved to hear Livy's concern for his master that sounded very sincere. Ever since he worked for Arthur, he saw that his boss was a cold and reserved type of person, Arthur would keep his troubles to himself and not complain when he fell ill. That he did even in front of Evander, or Dave, his own personal doctor. When the man really relapsed, it was Jim's least favorite moment. He couldn't stand seeing Arthur lying weak in the hospital and in pain, even as his eyes would then relapse.
Jim had heard that Arthur's eyes could actually be cured, the only way was surgery. But until now Arthur never wanted to do it.
Now that Livy was in the house, he hoped that Livy could get his young boss to undergo surgery to cure his eyes.
But on the other hand, he wasn't sure either; because Arthur himself never seemed to open up directly about his illness to Livy.
When Arthur was sick some time ago, Jim had received orders that Livy must not know that he was sick. Even two maids were stationed at the door to prevent Livy from entering. Somehow at that time Livy unexpectedly barged into Arthur's room just like that because the maids on duty were not there.
The two maids were finally dismissed a few days ago for no reason. Livy didn't know what Arthur was dissatisfied with because of them. Unfortunately when Jim had a small meeting with the housemaids, Livy heard the reason they were fired was because they didn't prevent Livy from entering Arthur's room.
Jim probably didn't know that Livy was blaming herself for the two maids.
Seeing how defensive Arthur was back then, Livy even guessed it seemed like he had had a bad time in the past.
Arthur looked like he was really going to attack Livy, if he didn't hear her voice.
This made her wonder, did Arthur often experience things like this that he grew his defensive nature unknowingly?
Could it be that Arthur thought Livy was the enemy who would attack him that night?
"Lady, the disease is caused by the toxic deposits remaining in his body which are difficult to expel. As long as Master doesn't eat the poison-inducing food, he will be fine."
Jim explained in outline. Livy wanted to ask what really happened, and how he got poisoned, but Jim refused to explain. So Livy didn't want to force him.
"There will be several maids accompanying this vacation. They are the ones who understand Master's condition the best. You can ask them later."
"Okay." Livy jotted it down in her head.
This of course would happen, but Livy just wanted to be part of Arthur's care.
She didn't have anything to give, but she wanted to repay Arthur's kindness. This was the only thing she could do.
Although Arthur seemed cold and indifferent, this man was actually very kind. Arthur was used to keeping things in his hands, he even arranged good things for Livy. Almost anything. Even when Livy was about to enter university, Arthur immediately made her a study room, prepared a complete guidebook, prepared test materials, didn't even prevent her from taking the scholarship path.
When Arthur said he would find a university for her, she also believed Arthur would.
Unfortunately she already has a university of her own choice.
After all, being given the opportunity to continue school was already an invaluable kindness for her. Her life wasn't really that bad. She had read many novels about arranged marriages, where the woman would be under house arrest and not allowed to do anything by her husband. But in her own matchmaking life, Arthur actually gives her a lot of freedom. He is a very understanding and kind man.
Livy was done with her preparations by nightfall. She had dinner alone because Arthur had not returned.
This was a common thing.
"Does Arthur usually have dinner when he comes home late?"
The maid nearby replied, "Dinner will be delivered to the room when he returns, Young Lady."
Livy nodded in understanding.
She got up and headed upstairs to rest. This house has two stairs. One on the left and one on the right, but the two stairs actually lead to the same goal. Livy usually went up the stairs on the right to get to the room, this time on the one on the left.
Arthur's bedroom door opened at that moment, she saw that there was a maid inside. She decided to enter without hesitation. This time she didn't sneak in, because there was a maid inside, that could be her alibi. She just wanted to see the preparation of Arthur's suitcase.
The maid who was inside was changing the sheets and pillowcases. When she saw Livy, she was a bit shocked. "Young Lady ..."
"It's okay, get on with your work. I wanted to see if Arthur's medicine box was ready," Livy said.
"It's all prepared. Please don't worry."
Jim had already said that there was only one kind of medicine Arthur would bring. It was just to ease the pain if he had a relapse, the rest was nothing else because Arthur didn't take much medicine. This was the doctor's advice.
Livy just stood there after answering, but her head scanned the room. The last time she came in, she didn't pay much attention to what was inside. To her surprise, the room was very spacious and not very furnished. Just a bed, cupboard and sofa in the middle.
Completely empty.
'Cold room, just like the owner,' Livy muttered gloomily.
With nothing else to do, Livy finally came out, she didn't know what she was doing. Was she really just curious about Arthur's suitcase and medicine preparation or did she want to enter the house to satisfy herself?
***
Elsewhere, Arthur took off the wireless earphones in his ears, his gaze turning cold. He turned off the tablet, massaged the bridge of his nose and closed his eyes.
His eyes were not perfect, but that didn't mean he couldn't see anything. It was just that he needed to put in more effort than anyone else if he wanted to see anything. This time he saw and heard everything that was happening in the house through his tablet.
Now he was confused.
Why did Livy come into his room?
Why did she ask about his medicinal preparations?
Was Livy's purpose in going into his room just to ask that question?
Arthur didn't find any answer satisfactory even though he thought hard.
"Do you want me to look into it one more time? This afternoon she called her aunt and they had a long conversation." Evander explained.
Arthur didn't answer.
Livy couldn't possibly have bad intentions towards him. Even though everyone who approached him always had bad intentions, but he felt that Livy was not one of them. Livy was the person he chose himself to marry, he had known the girl for quite a while.
Arthur had been looking for this precious needle in the haystack. Livy was a good girl. After all, wasn't she and her aunt's relationship not good? Even though Livy seemed to maintain good communication with her aunt, who knew that Livy was forced to do this.
"Investigate about her aunt. I'm sure she has plans with that woman." Arthur ordered.
Evander pushed up his glasses. "Okay. Anything else?"
"No, you can go."
Evander withdrew, he knew that the one referred to as 'that woman' must be Arthur's stepmother. After saying goodnight, he left.
