Angry
"Why did you leave the room?" Evander stubbed out his cigarette when he saw Arthur approaching him on the veranda.
Arthur's face was cold and irritated. "Dave is here."
Oh.
Evander knew that Arthur was very much against Dave's presence because he had forbidden him to come. "What can I do? He came alone with his men. He is waiting at the villa now."
Evander finally knew why Arthur chose to stay at a hotel instead of his own villa. Turned out it was because of Dave.
"Don't be so harsh on him. He's just worried about you that's why he came here."
Arthur's eyes looked at the vast expanse of the sea with a blurry vision. "Why should he worry? Aren't you here?"
"I'm not a doctor. Dave didn't mean anything bad to you anyway. Why should you scold him? He's impulsive and stubborn. You should understand his nature."
Arthur didn't really want to be angry either, but he was very upset to know that Dave had brought a lot of people to meet his 'wife'. He didn't want to frighten Livy.
Exactly the people Dave brought must have been people under his organization and they were mostly dressed oddly like thugs. Even though they weren't bad people, if Livy saw them, she would definitely freak out. Livy was young, Arthur didn't want to influence her with bad thoughts.
"You talk to him. Don't make a fuss. I'm going to the villa tomorrow morning." He'd be there when Livy left with her friends for a tour. He continued, "You sent someone to look after Livy."
Evander chuckled. "What are you afraid of? Your little wife will be fine. This island is yours, there will be no spies here. I have sent several trusted bodyguards to guard this territory in every corner. The island is not big. Who could come here unnoticed? Don't worry too much. Don't worry too much. It can affect your mind, ok?"
What Evander said made sense. Arthur didn't deny it and just agreed.
The next morning when Livy woke up, she didn't see Arthur anywhere. The bed beside him was cold. There seemed to be no sleep there all night.
Arthur didn't come back to this room all night? Why?
Livy didn't think about it any further and checked her phone. She saw a lot of messages from Brenda and her aunt. There was even one from Sarah too. She ignored the other messages and chose to open the message from Sarah first.
[I'm going to your room at eight, ok?]
[The hotel maid told me that we can go to the beach to ride speedboat.]
The two messages were sent an hour ago. It was half past eight. Livy replied 'okay' then went to take a shower.
Fifteen minutes later, she was just getting out of the shower and she heard a knock on the door. She was still wearing her bathrobe now, hastily opened the door. She assumed it was Sarah, but when the door actually opened, it was Arthur.
The two looked at each other in shock.
The one was surprised to see that it was not Sarah, the latter was also surprised to see the other party only wearing a bathrobe.
There was a gentle fragrance wafting in the doorway. Arthur's nose wrinkled. "Why are you dressed like that?"
"Ah? S-Sorry. I-I-I just took a shower, I thought you were Sarah."
Livy covered the chest of her bathrobe, it was actually tightly closed, but she felt like she had to hold it in.
Arthur gritted his teeth and said coldly, "It's just me, what if someone else comes? Are you also going to dress like this in front of other people?"
Before Livy could answer, her hand was gripped tightly and Arthur pushed her in forcibly.
Without looking at her, Arthur said, "Don't let your guard down. Anyone can have bad intentions even people you know. Next time don't go out like this."
Livy realized her mistake and looked down. "Sorry."
"Don't just say sorry with your lips. Do as I say. The world is so cruel out there. Don't be rash."
"..."
"So annoying."
Annoying? So annoying?
Did Arthur just say that she was annoying?
Arthur didn't say anything else. Livy felt the temperature drop to freezing point and she shivered. She saw Arthur open the door nonchalantly and leave, but the door slammed shut right after.
Livy almost jumped in shock.
She still didn't understand. Arthur wouldn't normally be that angry. Was it just because she came out in just a bathrobe?
Why did Arthur have to say all that?
Knowing Arthur was angry, Livy's heart ached. She slumped to the floor and tears fell from her cheeks.
After that incident, Livy was in a very bad mood.
However, Arthur's mood was even worse. He came to his villa with a dark face. Although nothing could be seen from the change in his expression, anyone could still feel his cold aura.
Dave greeted him excitedly, "Boss, you're finally here!"
Arthur looked inside the villa, the place was empty.
"I kicked everyone out because you were mad," Dave explained, laughing. "So where's my sister-in-law?"
Arthur ignored Dave's words and entered. He sat on one of the sofas to lean back, closing his eyes.
Now that he had sat down, his irritation had lessened somewhat. He could more easily figure out why he would say that to Livy, even be rude to her.
Why should he be angry?
Arthur had been through so much in his life that he was too wary. Seeing Livy come out wearing only a bathrobe, the anger just came. He couldn't stop thinking what if it was someone else or another man who saw her in such a state.
Arthur took a deep breath and decided to call his bodyguard. "Are you accompanying her?"
The answer on the other side was very positive and he was satisfied.
"Keep an eye on her. Don't let her get lost," Arthur said one last time, then hung up.
At the same time, Dave came back from the kitchen with some water and set it on the table. "Drink first, Boss."
Arthur ignored it, sleeping.
Dave sighed. He knew that Arthur must be angry that he had come here without being asked. Moreover he brought a large group of people, but after learning of Arthur's anger, Dave had driven them all away and left only a few people from the organization.
By the way, the organization in question was headed directly by Arthur, the organization he founded when he was a teenager with Evander and Dave.
In fact, without his father's company and wealth that Arthur took care of desperately, he would never have been short of money as long as the organization was around. This organization was built long before Arthur started the family company under pressure from his father. Until he finally managed to raise the nearly bankrupt company, everyone wanted the fruits of his labor and took over the abundant resources. In the end, many parties made sneaky attacks.
Even his own family.
Arthur had taken a lot of losses. Even in order to maintain the company, he had to suffer from blindness and paralysis. It was all done by one actor; his stepmother.
Although there were many people out there who want to bring Arthur down; of all his business rivals, it was his stepmother and stepfamily who resorted to dirty means.
Nancy, his stepmother, has not yet realized that Arthur has caught up with all her devious intentions. And how until now she is still playing behind him to keep bringing him down. Surprisingly even Albert Finnegan sided with the evil mistress to take advantage of Arthur, he even believed it when Nancy said that Arthur was not his flesh and blood.
Dave was furious to know this and wanted to kill Nancy and her family immediately, but Arthur was always against it.
"Boss, come on, don't be mad at me anymore. I didn't mean anything bad. I just wanted to see sister-in-law."
Arthur said, "You will scare her."
Actually even though Dave was a doctor, his appearance did not reflect that he was a doctor. He looked more like a thug. He has a lot of piercings on his nose and lips, even a full tattoo on his right hand, moreover he always wears jeans and a leather jacket.
What will Livy think when she sees this thug?
"Geez! Boss, you are too protective of her!"
Protective?
"Evan has said it all, that you are so protective of this girl. Even your attitude towards her is different from your attitude towards other people. You are so considerate of her."
Arthur, "..."
Dave patted his shoulder. "That's what I wanted to see. You know what I mean, right? I wanted to make sure she was a good girl."
Human instincts that are always in the face of danger are usually sharper than others. Also be wary of others. Not only Arthur, all of his subordinates had sharp instincts. Just by looking at a person, they would know that person's intentions.
This was what Dave meant by 'see'.
"She's fine," Arthur replied.
Dave snorted. He took the medical equipment under the table, before checking his boss' pulse.
"Well, she can wait, I want to check how you're doing first. Have you been feeling uncomfortable lately?" he asked.
"A little tired."
"You are tired from constantly working overtime. There doesn't seem to be anything serious. As long as you follow the regular medication, the poison will completely disappear from your body."
Arthur couldn't believe those words. The team of professional doctors said the poison that had been settling in his body for years had caused a lot of damage to his organs. Even if he was still alive at this time, it was because of his persistence in revenge.
"I know you don't believe me, but at least it's better than last time, right?"
Ever since Arthur was aware of everything around him, coupled with Dave's medication, things had gotten better. Five years ago, he was still completely blind. After slowly undergoing therapy, he can see better now. It was just that the tint in his eyes didn't completely disappear, and he still couldn't see very well at night.
"So, is sister-in-law really okay? She doesn't mean anything bad?" Dave cleaned up his tools again. He took the medicine and gave it to Arthur. It was a medicine to calm his tense nerves.
Arthur asked something else, "You haven't kicked them out yet?"
Dave felt the sharp tone of the question, grimacing. "You trust me, Boss. The thugs are gone!"
Arthut didn't answer, Dave gave him water and he drank the medicines Dave had just given him. Swallow two different pills at once.
"You rest here. I'll have Evan bring sister-in-law," Dave said, grinning.
"Leave her alone."
Dave's grin deepened, sadly Arthur didn't notice because he closed his eyes again. Instantly he began to feel sleepy, his heart suddenly felt a little tremble for no reason, his fingers were stiff and weak. He hated this feeling, it must be the effect of the medicine Dave had given him. This man must have deliberately given him sleeping pills.
Before he was completely lost in the darkness, he said weakly, "Don't you dare ... scare her."
***
"Woah, I now believe that this is a private island. You see, ever since we've gone anywhere, there's been nobody but us!" Sarah exclaimed. "But don't you find it too lonely?"
Livy, "Yeah, so quiet."
Since coming out to play, Livy wasn't excited at all. Even after she went shopping and bathed at the beach, her mood was still bad. She was still thinking about Arthur's words, and she was very sad in her heart.
On the door of the hotel room there is a magnetic screen that can show the area outside the door if someone comes. She didn't check that first and just opened the door.
This was actually her fault.
Even though she was sad that Arthur was angry, Arthur had some truth in what he said. What if the person who came at that time was a person with bad intentions? She opened the door in nothing but a bathrobe, as if giving someone else a chance.
She's so embarrassed now.
From morning till evening, Livy had not seen Arthur, and had not heard from him. She only saw bodyguards escorting her everywhere, but they didn't know where Arthur was.
Was Arthur still mad at her?
That was obvious, right?
Livy was startled as her arm was pulled. "I'm hungry now, wanna eat ice cream?"
The guard swiftly said, "Miss, there's an ice cream shop nearby. I'll buy it for you."
"Ok."
The guard immediately left.
Sarah glanced at Livy meaningfully. "So you have a problem, right?"
Livy, "..."
She couldn't be honest about Arthur's anger, she was afraid Sarah would be mad at him. She suddenly remembered that there were a lot of incoming messages on her phone from Brenda. Maybe she could use Brenda as an excuse to answer Sarah.
"It's about my cousin."
"What the hell is that bastard doing now, huh? Truly shameless, making people high blooded!" Sarah was unexpectedly angry. "Relax, I'll help you take care of it. Tell me, what are they doing? Ah, look, the ice cream has arrived."
Livy didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
The bodyguard brought two different kinds of flavours; strawberry for Livy and vanilla for Sarah. Right now Sarah was very satisfied playing this master and servant. She has a good mood. They found the gazebo and sat there, Livy finally telling her about Brenda. She said exactly as Brenda had sent them that they would visit after she returned from her 'honeymoon'. Previously she had reasons for refusing, but now she couldn't keep on reasoning.
"You really need to get rid of those parasites! Their purpose is so clear!" said Sarah.
"Mn."
"Look, I'll think of an idea for you. You calm down. We still have four more days of fun. Don't be nervous."
Livy wasn't nervous, thanks.
But she couldn't tell Sarah, that she was sad because of Arthur.
"It's almost dark, let's go home." Livy checked her phone to see the time.
"You're right. I'm so tired. We'll continue the play tomorrow."
After the two agreed to go home. They ride the go-karts that are available in every corner of the entertainment arena. The cold wind on this island had somewhat frozen the two of them. Livy had no idea the go-karts would take her to a different destination. When she realized that she had arrived at the villa near the mountainside, she was a bit confused.
"Where is this?" she asked.
"This is Mr. Finnegan's villa, from today you will stay here, Miss," explained the guard.
The place is beautiful and full of green trees, even the buildings are intentionally overgrown with vines. It was like the houses in an imaginary fairy tale. The villa consists of three floors, Livy was taken to a room on the third floor, she saw the man when she entered the room.
Her steps stopped for a moment.
At this moment she saw Arthur sleeping in a big bed. Because of the size of the bed and the thickness of the blanket, she felt Arthur was very small in it. She walked slowly while looking around, she found her suitcase and Arthur's in the corner.
Will she sleep alone with him again?
This thought made Livy blush.
But is Arthur still mad at her?
Step by step her feet advanced unconsciously. Until finally she was close. Her hand was outstretched, under the soft afternoon sun on the window his face seemed to glow slightly, his long eyelashes cast the shadow of a butterfly on his cheek.
So handsome.
Her hand was still outstretched, intending to touch that pale cheek ...
"Don't wake him up."
Hearing the sudden voice, Livy was startled. She slipped and fell to the floor.
... to be continued ...
