Livy's curiosity
Dave sat down in a nearby chair annoyed. He was in a good mood when Evander said that Arthur had invited them to his house to discuss something. However, when he met Arthur, he did not expect to see the man injured.
"How did you get hurt? Who did it?" Dave narrowed his eyes.
Arthur, "..."
"Tell me, Boss, who the fvck did it, then I will get back at that person." Dave clicked his tongue, got up from the chair again, headed to the buffet looking for a medicine box. "Was that even fvcking handled properly, huh? I think you stuck some random gauze in there."
"It's nothing. No need to exaggerate it."
"Fine, if you don't want to tell it. You always feel like you can solve your own problems, don't you? That's great, strong heart. Even if you die out there, we will know news of your death from others!"
On the other hand, Evander was very calm. "Someone attacked you?"
"Just a little accident."
"I remember that you met with Gwen today. Is this incident related to her?" he asked again.
There was the sound of the buffet door being slammed shut on purpose.
"Don't ask him anything, he won't want to answer you." Dave sneered. Still annoyed he approached Arthur with the medicine box in hand. Unexpectedly, Arthur let Dave change the gauze on his wound.
"That means what I said is true."
"There was a little fuss between me and Mr. Estelle, but I can handle it." Arthur answered finally.
"You're still in contact with that fart old man?" Dave snorted while pressing the ointment on Arthur's forehead, luckily the wound wasn't too bad. "I have to call you noble-hearted, huh? With what he and his daughter did in the past, you can still be nice."
"She was threatened."
"What fvcking ever." Dave spat. "By her complying with threats to stay away from you, it's clear that she never had you in her heart. I wouldn't be surprised if she was with you because she wants your wealth."
Arthur also didn't have Gwen in his heart at that time. So if this is the reason Gwen left, it's worth it too. After all, back again, who wants to be threatened with being blind and paralyzed?
He didn't want to blame anyone.
"But ... I'll bet. If the threater feels like doing this could bring you down, he can do it again in the future using the same method." Dave's voice lowered.
Arthur's heart went cold. "I'm not going to let anything happen to Livy."
Evander smiled. "Well, the bodyguards I sent are so reliable, you don't have to worry."
Dave glanced at Evander. "You took some people from Eternuz as bodyguards for Livy, right? They should be trustworthy. How many people did you send to protect her?"
"Six."
Dave wasn't surprised. He covered the last bit of glue on Arthur's new bandages and packed up the tools.
Arthur rubbed the bandage on his head and he was lost in thought. "I want her to know about Eternuz."
Hearing this, Dave and Evander looked at each other before looking at Arthur. They did not expect that Arthur would come to this decision. Their organization, Eternuz, is often considered a cunning underworld mafia gang by some of their rivals. This was just a rumor that was fueled by one of the business rivals at first and grew into a bad rumor that never stopped.
Many of their rivals are always looking for trouble just because they want to find out who owns Eternuz. Their base is often the target of attacks. Trucks and cargo ships, which are their largest means of business at the port, are almost always spied on.
Even though those who do that never get any results. No dangerous illegal goods are hidden there. Factories, large warehouses or whatever, all purely to support a healthy business.
That's why Eternuz is called a dangerous organization. Not because of the organization itself, but its bad rumors. And Arthur wanted Livy to know about this.
"Telling her or not doesn't matter. After all the bad rumors spreading outside aren't true." Evander picked up a cookie and sniffed the sweet smell. "We've always been secretive all this time, no one knows about your identity."
"We have a closed and heavily guarded cellar, how could a business rival not suspect anything? How many times have the police been invited to investigate the organization because of reports of suspicion." Dave interrupted.
In reality the cellar was filled with wooden pallets, iron racks and wooden drums filled with oil to fuel the ships. Even though Dave had illegal weapons hidden there, they were only a few and he was always good at fooling the police. If someone were to report the warehouse to the police, would they know that the guns were actually there?
Evander tapped Arthur on the shoulder. "No need to think about that. Just tell Livy the real truth, sooner or later she should know about it. Aren't you going back to Eternuz after breaking away from your family? I think you've worked things out with Gwen."
"Not yet. I'm still responsible for the cooperation contract between Branimir Estelle and the new colleague. I'm going out of town tonight." Arthur opened his tablet, looked back at his schedule.
There were at least five days when he had to go take care of all this. Before Gwen was truly free, it wasn't over. There are still other threats.
On the other hand, Arthur was also worried that Livy will be involved if she finds out about Eternuz.
Even though it wasn't a dark organization, the track record of that place wasn't completely pure either. There will be many dangers that accompany it.
Arthur looked at his two comrades seriously. "So can I trust Livy while I'm gone?"
***
Though Livy jots down lots of cheerful memos all over for Arthur to look at, the truth was she herself was moody. She was still thinking about why Arthur had sent her back to the dorm, did her existence bother him?
Indeed, coming to the dorm was originally Livy's idea. She did it because she thought that she could not stand living in a house with a lover who did not love her. She was worried that she couldn't face this.
And she was regret.
After Arthur finally confessed his feelings and they became official, there was no more reason for her to stay in the dorm, in truth, she wanted to continue to be by Arthur's side.
"But it's like he doesn't want to see me. He's always been busy lately. He's not working, so what does he take care of?" Livy was feeling sad. "Did he tell me to leave because he got tired of seeing me? Has his attitude changed because of that?"
Really, Livy really wanted to cry.
"No way! If he's bored, he won't be sweet to me. He always hugs and kisses me, sometimes we sleep together, right?"
Hearing her own words, Livy felt reassured. Arthur was very poor in expression, it was only natural that the man was so unpredictable. All this time, her guesses about meeting them from the start were always wrong, right?
She felt relieved in her heart. "Fine. I'll wait for him to ask me to come back."
She chuckled.
Having been thinking about this for so long, Livy forgot about time and dinner time was almost up. She hadn't stocked up on food today, so there was nothing outside. Finally she decided to leave.
There are hotpot restaurants and food stalls around campus, maybe she will buy junk food temporarily. Just when she came out of the dormitory gate, someone came from a distance and approached her. The man was wearing a black coat and sunglasses. She took a wary step back.
"Miss, don't be afraid. You must have seen me, I am the bodyguard at Mr. Finnegan's house." The man said.
"Oh." Livy nodded, but her heart still felt doubt. This place was deserted and she was a bit scared.
The bodyguard gave her a parcel. "Mr. Finnegan asked me to deliver some food for you. Sorry for the delay."
"Ah?"
Livy was confused. Then she remembered that during her stay in the dorm, there was always dinner sent for her by Arthur. But usually Amara, who came to the room and delivered the food in person, saw this bodyguard, Livy was not used to it.
"T-Thank you."
"You come in, don't go out at night without someone accompanying you. Very dangerous." The guard said firmly.
Livy had no other choice but to comply. The bodyguard didn't seem to give her permission to leave and he looked sinister. She was scared. So she decided to return.
Once in the room, she closed the door and opened the food package. There were main meals, desserts and warm drinks. She smiled before her eyes caught a scrap paper in the flask.
[Sorry that the food came late. I love you.]
Her cheeks immediately turned red and she couldn't hold back a smile on her lips. If she didn't stop now, her mouth might tighten up from smiling.
After all, what did he say?
I love you ...
God, why is Arthur so cute???
Without further ado, Livy devoured her meal which was a serving of whole grilled chicken, the color of the oil shining. Seriously. This was the same menu she had ordered for Arthur. When she ate it, she felt that she was sharing a table alone with her handsome husband.
She really wanted to come back. What reason should she make up? She couldn't wait for Arthur to ask her back. What if he won't ask her back?
She immediately became gloomy.
"Ah, why do I have to think about this again? If he doesn't ask me to come back, then I can come back as I want, why make it hard on myself?!" she said, then ate some more.
Right! Her accusations against Arthur are always wrong, right?
After finishing dinner, Livy texted Arthur that she would be back tomorrow. She reasoned that she was not comfortable in the dorm and wanted to be at home. She waited long enough for her phone to ring and a message came in.
[So you're going home tomorrow?]
Follow-up message arrives,
[I'm out of town, might arrive tonight. If you come home tomorrow, I'll have someone pick you up.]
Out of town? Why did Arthur go out of town?
This made Livy's negative thoughts come back again. She wanted to ask him where he was going and for what reason, in the end she didn't dare to ask and put her phone down again.
Suddenly her phone rang and it was an incoming call from Arthur. She was taken aback for a moment, deciding not to answer. She was afraid that if she accepted it, she would ask a lot of questions about what she was thinking earlier and make Arthur uncomfortable. She didn't want Arthur to think she was meddling too much.
Livy sighed.
In the end, Livy simply replied that she was going home and asked Arthur not to call because her phone's speaker was broken—which was actually just an excuse. Then immediately sent a message to Dave.
[Dave, do you have time?]
After sending the send button, Livy bit her lip. She had intended to meet Dave, but she herself didn't know whether she had the courage to ask the man about Arthur or not.
But this anxiety, like it or not, must be resolved.
***
Arthur's face was expressionless seeing Livy's answer.
"Stop by the phone shop on the way home, look for the newest brand and good quality. Give the phone to Livy."
"Yes sir." The driver said.
Arthur looked out the window and it was currently raining heavily in the city. He got stuck in traffic on his way to the airport. Even though he said he was out of town, he was actually just about to depart at this time.
He could have postponed it another day, but Branimir's deal with the new company starts tomorrow. Arthur didn't want to be present so that the old man would believe.
But Arthur's mind was not at ease at the moment. He called Livy and she didn't answer, then said her speakerphone was broken, did something happen?
"What is it?"
Arthur flinched and remembered that he was not alone in the car, besides the driver there was also Gwen.
"Something happened? You bought a phone for your wife, did she lose her phone?" Gwen stared at him.
"It's okay. Don't think about it."
Gwen smiled bitterly. She thought Arthur definitely didn't want her to meddle in his personal matters, so she didn't ask anymore.

In the evening, Dave came to the house, he knew Arthur was not there, so he dared to come to pick up Livy. In order to convince the maid, Dave said that he would take Livy to buy a present for Arthur.
"Mr. Hummel, what guarantees do you have for me to have more confidence?"
He winced. "You again. You must be the spy in this house, right? Want me to report to your master?"
The maid was confused. Dave had come to this house a lot and he hadn't proved to be evil, but their master had often told her not to believe anything Dave said.
"Sir, I dare not let you take young lady away without Young Master's permission." The maid tried to be firm.
"Jeez! Why are your shoulders so tense? Come here, come here!" Dave came over to her and massaged her shoulders. "Why do I need permission from Boss? That will let him know the surprise. You can ask sister-in-law, she came up with this plan."
"But, sir—"
"He's right." Livy suddenly appeared from the stairs and came down to meet them both. She glanced at Dave before glancing at the maid with a smile. "I have business with him, you can trust me because I'm not going to get too far. Right, Dave?"
"Yeah."
Dave glanced at Livy and his mind immediately flashed back to the message sent to him. Of course, this wasn't to surprise Arthur, it was just an excuse. She said that she wanted to ask something.
Of course, Dave felt a little suspicious, but also curious. He felt that Livy was in a hurry to meet him.
Arthur was such a perfectionist, he was used to doing things perfectly, and he couldn't let Livy go without his permission. Maybe even Livy's return home would have been known to him too. So they can only hide. Since Dave knew that Arthur had placed a bug on Livy, he immediately asked Livy to remove some of the items Arthur had given her, as a condition that Dave agreed to leave.
And Livy also agreed, she said that the only gift Arthur ever wore was a diamond necklace.
"Are you guys going to be gone long?" The maid still hesitated.
"Don't be tense. We won't be long anyway." Dave massaged her shoulders again. "If your master fires you, I am willing to accommodate. How?"
Dave grinned. The maid sighed.
"Deal! Sister-in-law, come on, let's go."
Dave immediately grabbed Livy's hand and led her to the car. After the two got into the car, Dave saw that her expression immediately became gloomy.
"It seems you want to ask something urgent." While asking this, Dave glanced down at Livy's neck to make sure the necklace had been removed.
Dave could clearly see her annoyance.
Livy looked up listlessly, she was hesitant, but also curious. She opened her mouth and asked,
"Dave, do you know what Arthur has been busy with lately?"
... to be continued ...
