Livy's anger
In the end, the bodyguard informed him that Livy had returned to university. But she didn't even go to class, instead she hid in Sarah's room even during Sarah's absence.
Arthur didn't know what had happened to Livy, but he could feel her demeanor strange. By seeing how her would not wear the necklace he had given her anymore, he knew that she had noticed the bugger inside.
With this, Arthur couldn't wait any longer, after a week or so of not contacting her, he wanted to see her now. He wanted to see for himself what had happened to her, whether she was mad because he put a bug in her necklace or not. At first he wanted to wait until Matthew's troubles completely died down, right after Matthew threatened him, he also couldn't calm down, in fear that Matthew would actually prove his threat.
Arthur's heart became restless.
After the car arrived at the university, the bodyguard immediately met him and showed Livy's GPS location which was finally active again. She was nearby, at a fast food restaurant.
Since it was impossible to meet her suddenly, he sent a message.
[Where are you? I'm in front of the university.]
Elsewhere, Livy almost choked on the water she drank.
She was shocked when she read a sudden message from the person she missed.
Why did Arthur come here?
To be honest, she was still not ready to meet him, especially after she found him meeting another woman. Even though it hasn't been proven that they are playing behind her, but with some of their intimate poses, she was very jealous. She really didn't want to see him right now.
"How ...? What should I do? I don't want to see him at this time."
Before she could come up with an idea to run away, the restaurant door opened and she saw Arthur enter.
Livy immediately stood up nervously. "You ... why did you come suddenly?"
Arthur's gaze scanned around and found his little wife alone before looking up at her. "You should have finished your class. I intend to pick you up."
"Oh, this morning's class was postponed abruptly. So it will be at one o'clock." Livy explained.
Arthur now got it why Livy didn't go to class this morning. But that still doesn't explain where she went outside in disguise. His gaze immediately glanced at her neck to see the necklace there, but he didn't find it she put it on.
"Since you came, should we change places? You're not used to eating food like this," Livy said hesitantly.
"I'm fine eating here."
Arthur pulled up the nearest chair and sat down, pretending not to notice his little wife's nervousness.
"Haven't you ordered anything yet?" Arthur asked.
Livy gave him a slight glance, before replying, "I haven't ordered anything yet, so we can move places and find a new restaurant."
"Why?"
For some reason, Livy felt that Arthur's flat tone this time was a bit demanding. She licked her lips slightly. "Because you're not used to eating fast food, right? We can pick a place you like."
"I'm fine anywhere. Can't I eat here?"
"T-That's not what I meant." Livy clicked her tongue softly. "Okay. I'll start ordering. What would you like, um, to eat?"
Arthur took the menu book, every writing in the menu book was very small, he frowned because he couldn't read it
"You choose for me."
"Huh?"
"Choose a menu that suits me," Arthur said clearly.
Livy grimaced, she really couldn't calm down at this moment. Every time she saw Arthur, she would remember those photos, and she felt jealous.
"Then you can try warm corn chowder instead."
"How about you?" Arthur stared at her, before continuing, "What did you order?"
"Um, I've got a spicy sandwich with bacon and cheese. Also a cola and mango ice cream."
"Order the same as you."
Livy was surprised to hear him say this, and said, "T-That's ... if you're not used to eating this food, you shouldn't. This portion has an extra bit of spiciness. If you don't like spicy, this won't be good food for your palate."
Right. Arthur had never eaten spicy before, Livy never knew whether he liked spicy or not. She didn't want any trouble later.
"I want that. I like it spicy." Arthur insisted.
Because Arthur said so firmly, she was speechless and went to the counter to order. Shortly after, she came back with one tray in hand, there was one waiter carrying another tray. As soon as she placed the tray on the table, he noticed that the menu he had was slightly different.
Livy noticed that Arthur was a bit confused. "I didn't order a cola for you. Instead I added corn chowder and your sandwich wasn't too spicy either. If this is your first time eating spicy, it shouldn't be too spicy."
Arthur stared at the food blankly.
Livy pretended not to notice the odd look, she started to pick up her sandwich with some erratic feeling, slowly pushing the lettuce away.
"You always eat lettuce at home." Arthur commented.
"Hm?" Livy was startled, then realized what she was doing. "Oh. That's ... I don't really like lettuce."
Maybe because at home, the maids didn't know about her not eating lettuce, so they prepared it in a bread filling. Indeed, that doesn't mean she doesn't like it, because she still eats it that's why it's still prepared on her bread. Just the fact that she doesn't really want to eat lettuce.
"I'll eat it for you." Arthur took the lettuce, put it on his sandwich. "If you don't like it, there's no need to eat it."
Livy's hand on the glass she was holding tightened. She was trying to act normal in Arthur's presence today, but she couldn't help it. She wanted to ask about the photos she had received, the words were barely on the tip of her tongue and she desperately wanted Arthur to explain what connection there was between them. Her anxious mind made her chest tightly knotted. Meeting Arthur today made her even more breathless.
Without realizing it her nose started to hurt, her eyes were hot and maybe soon she would cry. She quickly took a drink to clear her throat. Unknowingly she choked and coughed violently.
Hearing Livy cough, Arthur wanted to help her, but she unexpectedly brushed his hand away.
Arthur was surprised.
"S-Sorry."
Her eyes reddened and tears were falling from her coughing so hard. Now her throat hurts. Arthur didn't get another chance to help her when she had opened a new bottle of water and was drinking greedily.
"You okay?" Arthur looked at her worriedly.
"I'm fine. Sorry," Livy said hoarsely.
"Does your throat hurt? I'll order warm water for—"
"No need," Livy cut him off quickly, "I mean it's okay now, just choking."
Arthur said nothing more. He saw her start eating her sandwich like nothing happened but he could tell she was trying to avoid it. But why?
After a while he said, "You didn't wear your necklace today."
Livy's hand movements stopped. "I forget."
Forget?
Arthur knew that the girl was lying, but not wanting to corner her, he just said "Maybe the necklace is a bit boring for you. Do I have to buy another necklace that you like?"
Livy gritted her teeth. "Why?"
"You don't seem to like wearing it."
"I love it. I just totally forgot to put it on." Livy's hands were covered in cold sweat, she put down her sandwich, her appetite gone. "There's no need to spend money on such an expensive necklace anyway."
Arthur was silent.
Livy plucked up the courage to continue, "After all, you didn't buy that as a mere gift, did you? You bought it because you had to."
Arthur was stunned. "... What do you mean?"
Her heart began to beat erratically and her desire to know the woman was getting bigger. But she didn't want to ask him directly because that would mean Arthur would find out that she was stalking him behind his back. Then what's the difference between the two of them?
Arthur was monitoring her and she was angry for it, then she also did it quietly behind his back.
If she was angry about it now and all this speculation of hers, it would be absurd.
Livy looked at the man in front of her, her eyes so sad and hurt. She remembered Dave telling her, that not only did the necklace have bugs in it, even the watch she owned before had one as well. Back then Arthur had quickly given her the necklace after her watch had broken, meaning he couldn't even go a few days without monitoring her activities.
And he gave those two gifts not because he wanted to, but because he had to!
This made her heart ache.
What exactly was she in Arthur's eyes? Does he really love her or does he want to get back at Gwen?
Seeing that Livy didn't answer, Arthur held her hand. "Livy—"
Livy slapped his hand away quickly, and it was very strong, like a solid slap. Then she stood up, her eyes red, but not because she had choked before, because she was on the verge of tears.
"What exactly do you want? Why are you doing this to me?" Her voice rose.
Arthur, "..."
"You've been watching me from afar all the time, so there's no need for you to come here to see me, right? Arthur, you haven't replied to my messages in days, and probably wouldn't have contacted me if I hadn't contacted you first. And now you suddenly appear in front of me, because I took off the necklace, right? Because you can't hear anything from me, can you?"
"Livy, what do you mean?"
"What do I mean, you say?" Livy laughed dryly. "Don't you know, or pretend you don't know?"
Arthur felt that the situation was not good and he stood up. "Listen to me—"
"No, no, no. You're the one who has to listen to me this time. You! Isn't it enough for you to keep monitoring my activities, dispatching all those bodyguards, and even the bugger on the necklace?" Her body was shaking. "Am I a prisoner?"
"..."
Everyone who was originally busy with their own activities started to take an interest in this commotion.
"What is your purpose in doing all this? Why do you have to monitor everything I do?!" She shouted.
Arthur was still silent even when he noticed that Livy was starting to cry. He knew that she had noticed the bugger, but he couldn't come up with a proper reason amidst her anger.
Livy turned her head away. "Oh, did you think I'd cuddle with another guy and go places with your back huh? You worried about that?"
Arthur frowned, not understanding why Livy had come to that speculation. Then he heard some of the diners starting to whisper loudly around him, perhaps taking the argument for some good show. He immediately pulled Livy's hand tightly, took her out of there, no matter how many times she rebelled. He gripped her hand very tightly.
Arthur led her into the car. As soon as the two entered, Livy attempted to get out, but he locked the door and pressed her under him.
"Let me go. Uh! Let me go!" Livy squirmed hard.
Arthur's energy was so strong that Livy didn't move, but his voice was very soft as he said, "I won't let you go until you hear what I have to say. Will you listen to me?"
"Why? Why do you have to wait to explain? Why do you have to ask me?" Livy was panting. "Did you ask what my opinion was when you placed the bug? Did you ask my opinion?"
Livy's anger was understandable, this was also what Evander had reminded him of earlier. He just didn't expect that she would be this angry, she had never spoken to him in such a high tone.
"I'm sorry. I was wrong." Arthur kissed her forehead.
Livy sobbed before she finally cried harder and started moving her hands to hit Arthur's chest. He loosened his grip.
"You're mean! You're mean to me! You made me your prisoner, you monitor me all the time and you only come to see me when you can't find me. Are you going to continue like this? You're evil! You villain! You're wrong!"
"... I know." He kissed her forehead again gently
Livy kept hitting his chest. "Actually you don't love me, do you? That necklace and watch ... you gave it to me not from your heart, right? But because you slipped a bug to monitor your prisoner. Why? Why, Arthur? Why am I like your prisoner? Why?"
Her cries became more sad and heart-rending, Arthur closed his eyes, feeling very guilty.
"Sorry. I'm sorry."
Arthur let go completely and hugged her not caring that she rebelled. He should have met her since he came back from out of town, he shouldn't have made her have these thoughts.
He loved her, how could she even need to ask?
"I love you so much, I'm sorry."
...
......
An hour later, Livy's crying had subsided and she was well seated next to Arthur.
"I have to get back inside."
"Wait." Arthur held her back as Livy was about to run away. "I'll pick you up when you're done with your class."
Livy didn't look at him at all, her expression blank. She waited until Arthur let her go and opened the door, then got out and left without looking back.
Arthur sighed. In the end he wanted to explain everything, but Livy wouldn't listen to anything. So he didn't explain anything at all.
He will give her some time.
On the other hand, Livy stopped walking right in front of her class, right at that moment, a message came to her phone. It was from Matthew, she immediately read it.
[I got Gwen's active phone number. Thanks me later :)]
... to be continued ...
