Ending
One year passed in the blink of an eye. Arthur was back at work and Livy was taking care of their baby boy at home. Their baby was one year old now; healthy, handsome and adorable. The baby boy with the name Arsen Finnegan grew up with a fat body and white skin, he had black eyes like his father's, while the shape of his lips was similar to Livy's when she was young. Arsen was not only a proud baby for his parents, he was even loved by everyone including members of Eternuz. Arsen will even get gifts every week even though there aren't any special events on that day.
One day, Arthur suddenly, because Livy had given the name to the baby, he was curious about why she had chosen that name and her answer was very innocent;
"He must have a name similar to his father's, that way he will be as handsome as you when he grows up."
Arthur was speechless and agreed to that ridiculous excuse.
Now that a year has passed, the problem that used to haunt them has been properly resolved. Eternuz began to be known as the largest cargo service company that even penetrated foreign markets. Eternuz, who used to be known as the kingpin of the underground mafia, is increasingly recognized by the public, especially their business rivals. Not only do they shine even more, they have many jobs available for all ages. Their business world is starting to get busy. Dave, who retired from his medical job, began to pursue the marine world and began to explore many oceans to catch various types of fish from his private boat. He got busier.
Unlike the remaining two people.
Evander sighed. "You wouldn't recognize him again if you saw him in front of you."
"Oh, why?" Arthur was interested.
The two of them sat on a park bench, watching the sun slowly descend from the sky. Under the cool summer sky, the leaves started to fall, as well as the bustle of several people playing. The eyes of the two people were also diverted to two childish women playing with little Arsen on the playground in the middle of the city park. Looked fun to joke together. What a beautiful and precious sight.
Evander took out his cigarette and replied, "His skin is darker now, apart from fishing, snorkeling and diving in the open ocean, he has a new hobby; skydiving under the hot sun."
"I'm curious." Arthur grinned.
"He's in Mexico right now, maybe going home just to give us a present and then leave again."
"Dave is still young, he still has a soul to play."
"Yeah. He made a long list of what he wanted to do right after he took off his doctor's coat. Maybe he was feeling constrained all along." Evander exhaled the cigarette smoke from his lips.
"That's good for him."
"Good for spending money without working? What a dickhead." Evander snorted. "Don't defend him. The company is getting busy at the moment and he doesn't care one bit, you know."
"You'll start to be busier again in two months from now." Arthur said.
"What do you mean?"
Arthur didn't answer immediately, at which point Livy turned to him and gestured Arsen's small hand at him in a small wave. He returned the wave happily. Then looked at Evander. "I meant to tell you later but … I guess I'll tell you now. I'm about to take over Livy family company."
Evander was stunned.
"I've discussed this with her and she's agreed to me taking over the company." Arthur continued.
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah. The company had a good profit at the end of last year. I intend to grow it."
"..."
"So ... please take care of Eternuz while I'm not around. Consider me on temporary leave."
"Fvck!"
After another hour of play, Sarah and Livy were panting between the chubby babies in their arms. Little Arsen certainly didn't care about the tiredness of the two adults and started to whine that he wanted to play again.
"Damn it! This little baby doesn't know how to stop. My legs hurt." Sarah grumbled while pinching Arsen's cheeks.
The baby's little hands opened and closed, his lips pouted, when Sarah glared at him he laughed and there were two upper and lower teeth growing. The little baby kept rocking Sarah with its little bottom, hoping Sarah would take him away again.
"I'm tired, peanut. Just invite your mother, okay?" Sarah complained.
Livy waved. "No. I'm tired too."
"Hey, it's your child. You hold it!"
"Come on, Sarah, you're going to be a mother too. You have to get used to carrying babies." Livy grinned.
"You piece of shit! Don't—"
"Language, Sarah." Livy cut her off quickly. "My baby is not allowed to hear dirty words. What if he imitates you? Cover your ears, poor child. This auntie has a dirty mouth, forgive her, ok?"
Sarah was speechless.
"You'll see, the baby will remember who carried him more. Oh, he will forget about you later." She told Livy.
Livy was undeterred. "Whatever. You'll know how tiring it is to take care of a baby when you have one later. Ah. Come on. A little more and we'll be where we are. Where's Arthur anyways, why didn't I see him? Did we go the wrong way?"
"Geez!" Sarah rolled her eyes, in the end still holding Arsen in her arms and started walking. "Am I going to learn to be a mother now or your mother by selling me to you, huh, poor child?"
Arsen pinched Sarah's lips with his little finger until Sarah fell silent. Sarah glared at him instead and he laughed.
"This baby doesn't know when he's being scolded, and he's actually overjoyed." Sarah chuckled.
"Ah, there they are." Livy waved at Sarah who was lagging behind her, then pointed at a park bench under a willow tree. That's where Arthur and Evander were.
Sarah wearily didn't want to argue anymore.
"By the way, how was your thesis? Was the thesis really so hard to work on and almost made students die, like the campus legend said?" Livy asked while waiting for her to approach.
Ever since she took leave from her studies when Arthur had to undergo surgery, she still couldn't come back because now she has a baby to take care of. Arthur said if she wanted to continue studying at university, she could start when Arsen was one year old, but she didn't know if she could leave Arsen at such a small age and leave him to the baby sitter.
Seeing that Sarah had almost finished her studies, to be honest, she was jealous and wanted to go back. On the other hand, she also had a lot of considerations.
"I'm actually not free today and I'm going to meet the lecturer for revision. This is the third time," complained Sarah.
Seeing that her best friend couldn't even bring herself to curse, it could be said that her best friend had completely lost her energy.
"You can do it. I'm sure you can graduate smoothly." That was all Livy could say.
Sarah smiled bitterly, asking back, "And you, when are you going to resume your semester? Did you really quit?"
Livy gloomily replied, "I don't know. I want to start again but I can't leave Arsen."
"I know it's hard for you. So take some time when you're ready. I'm sure you'll find that perfect time."
Livy nodded, by then they were close to the park bench where Arthur and Evander had been waiting. By the way, there's an interesting fact here, actually when she decided to take a walk in the park, she didn't invite Sarah to come along at all. While she was playing with Arsen, Sarah suddenly came with Evander. Judging from the behavior of the two of them, she was sure that something had happened to the relationship between the two friends, only Sarah didn't admit it, and Livy would wait until Sarah told her.
But even if Sarah hadn't confessed, Livy had seen through them; that something was going on between the two.
Hopefully that's a good guess.
Livy averted her eyes from Arsen, looking at the ground ahead. "I'll be right back. I promised Arthur I'd only play until five and now it's time. How about you?"
"Does he manage your play time?" She sneered.
"Of course, he doesn't want me to play too long and get tired. Isn't he so cute?" Livy laughed.
"Shit! The smell of a couple showing off their affection is rotten!" Sarah pinched her nose.
Livy was clearly smiling proudly. She took Arsen from Sarah's arms and started to carry him herself.
Sarah said, "Tell me, how has Arthur been a father so far? Can he take good care of baby Arsen? I'm sure he can take care of you so carefully. But what about baby?"
Livy remembered all Arthur's treatment over the past year. Arthur may be tough and powerful at his job, but when it comes to taking care of Livy and the baby, he lacks experience and can be clumsy at times.
This may be due to a new experience in their life. In fact, they're both a bit clumsy.
Arthur, in order to fulfill all of Arsen's needs, he always went to and fro without remembering the time. He's a great father.
"Arthur is alert. He devotes all his attention to Arsen well." Livy smiled gently.
Even though Sarah was jealous, she was very touched to see Livy's smile and felt happy too.
Then Livy said off topic, "Actually we are going to see father-in-law today. Arthur finally has the intention to see his father after one year, so I want to accompany him as well as introduce a grandson to father-in-law."
"You did say that his father shouldn't be in prison for long, right?" she said.
Livy nodded. "Should be, but I guess it was father-in-law who didn't want to get out of there. I guess he just wanted to make up for his past mistakes."
The atmosphere became heavy after this sentence fell. Sarah, who already knew about their family's problems, did not dare to say anything.
Luckily the gloomy situation didn't last long when they arrived at the place where Arthur was sitting. He smiled broadly.
"You have done?" Arthur stood up and took Arsen from her arms.
At this time Arsen finally yawned widely and rubbed his eyes tiredly indicating that the super active baby was finally tired.
"Ow, baby, you're getting sleepy as soon as you hold your father, huh?" Livy nudged his chubby cheeks.
Arsen looked away and nuzzled his head into Arthur's neck.
"Are we going home now?" He asked.
Just as Livy was about to answer, she realized that Arthur was standing right where the late afternoon sun was shining on him with soft rays. He was wearing casual clothes; just dark brown slacks and a light blue long-sleeved shirt, but it suited him so well and she couldn't take her eyes off him. His white skin and tall figure really matched his outfit.
Seeing him exposed to the warm sunlight, the light seemed to focus on him who was very dashing and handsome.
Has he been this handsome for a long time?
The dashing and handsome man affectionately cradled his son, his slender hands gently stroking his baby's hair. His thin smile was so charming and seductive, it thrilled Livy. This feeling was the same as when she saw Arthur for the first time at that fancy restaurant long ago.
"Did you forget something? I can wait."
Even his soft voice was pleasing to the ear.
Livy blushed first. Even after they had lived together for more than two years, this feeling of being seduced by his good looks always overwhelmed her.
She tucked her hair behind her ear, before taking Arthur's arm and standing by his side. "No. We're leaving now. Let's go."
Somewhat flirtatious, Livy added, "How can I make my handsome husband wait any longer? What if his good looks could seduce the girls around here?"
Arthur was a little dazed, then found this a little funny and couldn't help but smile.
"Is my little wife flirting with me?" Arthur raised his eyebrows playfully.
Livy pursed her lips, blushing.
"Oh my God! Lovey-dovey couples do stink!" Sarah sneered beside her, glanced at Evander, then looked away again.
Evander was confused.
Arthur said goodbye briefly to Evander before finally unable to hold his little wife's hand with his free hand. Seeing his little wife teasing him, it seemed like there was another game they would be doing at home after this.
It was as if they were on an opera stage, as they started to leave, the sunlight only shone on the two of them. Unlike the scorching sunshine of summer, the light was gentle with sprinkles of spring flowers every step of the way. And of course, as soon as they walked there were lots of eyes looking their way, which even Livy proudly pointed out that the two of them were a happy married couple with a handsome son in their arms.
And Livy hopes that her little family happiness will last forever.
END.
