Chapter 38| Demons

Clark's POV

"How long will both of you keep this secret from me?" I asked in a low but dangerous tone. Bel didn't utter a word. She didn't even dare to look at me. She was looking straight at the road.

I sighed. My grip on the steering wheel tightened, then I blew a horn whenever someone blocked my way.

"Geez, Clark! Calm down! We might get into trouble if you keep blowing a horn at the road," Bel couldn't help to interrupt.

I punched the steering wheel in frustration when we got stuck in traffic.

"Fuck!" I exclaimed and hit the front of my head against the steering wheel repeatedly.

"Clark–"

"Damn it, Bel! Tell me the truth! She's a prostitute, isn't she?!"

Bel looked away. She shifted her gaze to the window. She slowly nodded in a reply that made my heart hurt.

"Are you a prostitute too?"

She just silently nodded again as a response. I took a deep breath and looked at the road. There was one thing left that needed to be confirmed.

"Does Angela happen to be Magda in the entertainment club?" I nervously asked. My heart started to pound hard. The air that I breathe became thinner and thinner.

Bel didn't respond immediately. Tears were rolling onto her cheeks which answered my question. I buried my face in my hands out of frustration. I didn't know what to think right now. I felt like I got played.

I shut my eyes in pain. My sweet Angela is a prostitute.

"Now that you know who she is, what she does for a living, how she survives the day just to feed and give her siblings an education, do you still love her?"

I shifted my gaze quickly back to her direction after hearing it. She was now bravely looking straight into my eyes.

I didn't answer her immediately. My mind is still in shock about the revelation. I couldn't think and decide right away.

"Do you know, she's planning to resign from the club just for you? It is a risky decision for her, Clark. It may give her a hard time finding a decent job because of her past. It may affect their daily expenses and most especially the education of the kids. But despite those possibilities, she still chose to take the risk. Just for you, Clark. Just for you, for herself, and for the relationship she has with you."

My mouth was agape after what I learned.

"If you felt fooled by her, Clark, kindly think again. If you still feel fooled, think again. Do it many times until you'll see and understand why," she added.

I looked away from her and lowered my gaze in embarrassment.

"Since you already know the truth, I'll share with you this thing. She told me last time that she's going to resign from the entertainment club. To be honest with you, that's a dangerous decision that she will make and I'm afraid she's doing it right now," she said in a worried voice.

I blew the car's horn again. We're still stuck on this damn road.

"Why might it be dangerous?"

"Our boss is a drug dealer, has a business in the black market, and most especially, has a connection to the corrupt authorities. Boss doesn't want Angela to be separated in his club because my best friend is his asset. The reason why the customers and almost all the clients in the club kept coming back to the club, just only looking for her. It's a big loss to him if he will let Angela resign to his club."

Bel leaned closer to me and held my right arm. She looked at me pleadingly.

"Our boss is known to be violent. I'm afraid of what they will do to her if she resigns. And I badly want to see her as soon as possible, Clark. I don't know what they will do to her once our boss bursts into anger. Clark, please...Save her," All she said and cried hard on my shoulder.

I froze in my seat while staring blankly in the air. My heart pounded hard in fear.

I shifted my gaze back to the road. The traffic was now getting fixed. I gently guide Bel to sit properly in her seat. She seemed to have weakened because of too much crying and worrying about Angela.

I held the steering wheel tightly and drove as fast as I could. I badly need to be there as soon as possible.

Hold on, Angela. I'm going to save you.

Angela's POV

I ran away quickly after seeing Sir Kenny lying on the floor, lifeless. I opened the door immediately to get out of the office but I screamed when the guards caught me in an instant. They held my both shoulders and dragged me inside. They locked up the door.

I looked anxiously at our boss who was wearing a devilish smile on his face.

"Surprise!!!" he exclaimed in joy and laughed evilly. I swallowed hard as my heart was beating wildly. My chest moved up and down rapidly in fear.

"P-please...Let me go..." I pleaded while my tears kept on flowing. He stared at me in disbelief and then, later on, laughed. It looked like I was a big joke in his sight.

"I thought we were already clear about this?" he asked and sarcastically scoffed.

I gulped.

"You disappoint me, Magda. Big time!"

I was startled after he put the gun down on his office table harshly. My heart beats faster.

"Do you remember what I have told you before? Just be good then I'll be good," he reminded me. I shut my eyes after hearing it. I felt there was something worst scenario is about to come.

"But you acted badly today. Also Kenny," he said in a sad voice. I started to cry badly. This is getting worse. His voice made me more nervous. He stood up in his office chair and approached my direction.

I tried to withdraw my arms from the two guards but I failed.

"Look at him..." he took a glance at Sir Kenny then shifted to me.

"He did something bad today so that is what he received. Cool, right?" he asked, which made my knees tremble in fear.

"And of course, I want to be fair with Kenny. He was the best employee I have had so far for over eight years. If he received punishment because of what he did, of course, you should receive punishment too!" he exclaimed in joy.

I didn't know what I was going to do anymore. He looked insane.

"L-let me live..." were all the words that I could say. I remembered the face of my siblings, Bel, and also Clark. I couldn't stand to leave them.

I can't... I just can't.

Boss chuckled and shook his head. After a minute, he looked at me intently.

"Of course! I don't want my club to shut down so I'll let you live."

"Your punishment that you are going to receive is different. And I know you'll enjoy it since this is your job and this time, I will give it a twist."

My eyes widened in horror after hearing the word "job". My heart wanted to escape from my ribcage out of fear. I hope that an idea forming in my mind isn't correct.

"Guards..." he called. The two guards let go of my arms. I looked at his guards that are now staring at me. My body froze at the moment they unbuckled their belts and took off their pants. They now looked like a predator approaching my direction.

I looked back to my boss who was now taking off his pants too.

I screamed in shock when one of the guards lifted me and threw me to the sofa.

Three men were now looking at me with wide grins on their faces. I cried hard and screamed when they started devouring my body.
